Predictor Analysis of Acute Radiation Oral Mucositis in NPC Patients Treated With IMRT/TOMO Combined...

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Radiation induced oral mucositis which may result in reduced quality of life is commonly seen during radiotherapy, especially combined with chemotherapy. This study is a prospective, single center, and exploratory study. Two contour methods of oral mucosal will be used in this study. All detail information will be recorded prospectively. The aim of this study is to explore predictive factors of acute radiotherapy induced oral mucositis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients treated with new precise radiotherapy (intensity modulated radiotherapy or tomography radiotherapy) by using different dosimetric parameters and clinically relevant variables.

Active Surveillance of Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma

Thyroid CancerPapillary

Papillary thyroid microcarcinoma are small thyroid cancer measuring 1cm or less. Most of this tumor are not palpable and are identified either through pathologic examination or from imaging modalities, such as CT scan or thyroid sono. Active surveillance of papillary microcarcinoma is to observe thyroid papillary cancer without immediate surgical approach. The purpose of this study is to understand more about the characteristics of papillary microcarcinoma, which has been known for "the cancer slowly progression"

Inherited Susceptible Genes Among Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian Neoplasm EpithelialHereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome

Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of the germline mutations in the BRCA 1/2 and mismatch repair genes in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and their relatives, and related somatic mutations in tumor tissues in the northern part of china. Patients and methods: A multicenter prospective study will be hold in the northern part of china form 2017. About 1000 female patients with epithelial ovarian cancer and their ralatives will be tested for germline mutations in the BRCA 1/2 and mismatch repair genes and related somatic mutations in tumor tissues, regardless of the family history. Study type: Observational Official title: Prevalence study of germline mutations in susceptibility ovarian cancer genes in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer and somatic mutations in their tumor tissures in the northern part of china. Prospective Study of Frontline H Pylori Eradication in the Treatment of Early-stage Extragastric...

Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma

Gastric low-grade mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALToma) is associated with Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection, and around 70% of these tumors can be cured by HP eradication therapy (HPE). However, the role of antibiotics in the frontline treatment of extragastric MALToma remains unclear. In addition to anecdotal case reports showing histologic regression of extragastric MALTomas after antibiotics, our explorative study found that frontline HPE (clarithromycin, amoxicillin, and omeprazole) resulted in complete remission (CR) in this subgroup patients (2 salivary gland, 1 lung, 1 colon, and 4 ocular adnexal MALToma [OAML]). Interestingly, two patients with OAML who do not respond to Chlamydia psittaci (CP) eradication using doxycycline achieved CR after HPE. These findings suggest that bacterial infections, including HP, may be involved in the lymphomagenesis of these extragastric MALTomas. Our preliminary results also revealed that 5 (23.8%) of 21 HP-negative gastric MALToma patients achieved CR after HPE, indicating that antibiotics may also have ability to eradicate non-HP bacteria. Based on our preliminary findings and the indolent biologic behavior of MALToma, it is reasonable to use frontline HPE in the treatment of early-stage low-grade extragastric MALToma.

Study of Blood Components as Probable Prognostic and Predictive Markers of Response to Treatment...

Colon Cancer Stage IIbRectum Cancer4 more

The main reason of cancer-related mortality is the spread of cancer cells to distant sites (micrometastases). However, only a few small groups of tumor cells can metastasize by acquiring mechanism to decrease the immune response. Changes in the systemic inflammatory response to the tumor can be measured by blood-based parameters. In particular, the proportion of neutrophyls- lymphocytes (NL) has been evaluated for predicting the survival of patients with different types of cancer. The first strategy to treat colorectal cancer (CCR) is complete resection of the lesion. Nevertheless, some patients experience recurrence, probably due to residual micrometastases. We have demonstrated that analysis of some resistance proteins (Tyms / MRP1) in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) may predict treatment response in metastatic CCR patients (mCRC). We also note that the CTCs kinetics can show response to therapy. Patients with stage III disease in the colon / rectum, although showing high cure rate, generally fall locally or remotely and studies with blood markers in this group of patients is still scarce. Primary Objective: To investigate cells found in the blood (lymphocytes and neutrophils and CTCs) to verify if they can help in the choice of anti-neoplastic therapy in patients with advanced colon and rectum cancers. Secondary objectives: - to evaluate the influence of CTC kinetics in response to treatment of patients with advanced colon/rectum cancers; - to check the expression of treatment resistance, invasion and proliferation proteins (Tyms, TGF-βR, MMP-2, β-gal, Ki-67 and CD45) in CTCs and their correlation with response to treatment; - to check the mRNA expression of the same genes observed by immunocytochemistry in CTCs and their correlation with response to treatment; - to quantify CTCs, neutrophils and lymphocytes of patients included in this study and verify if there are correlation among their rates and progression-free survival. Methods: there will be collected 10 ml of blood of patients with advanced colon and rectal cancer for analysis of CTCs, lymphocytes / neutrophils. CTCs will be isolated, quantified and analyzed after separation by ISET method (Rarecells/France). The marker analysis of these cells will be done by immunocytochemistry and the gene expression will be assessed by RNAscope. The quantification of lymphocytes/neutrophils will be made by common blood count in Delboni laboratory. Expected Results: We propose to show that not only the count and the kinetics of CTCs, but also their molecular characteristics, can provide relevant information to clinicians. Hopefully, by quantification of neutrophils and lymphocytes, we will be able to identify new prognostic blood biomarkers that can direct clinicians to the best therapeutic choice.

Chronic PancreatitisDiabetes1 more

The data management systems, auditing, and monitoring effort are supported by the MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Research Support Center (CRSC). The The Coordination and Data Management Center (CDMC) will provide high quality, efficient and consistent leadership and services in all aspects of data quality and assurance; data harmonization and management; while providing assistance to the projects in disseminating and interpreting those data. The CDMC PI will provide statistical (study design, analysis plans, data analysis, and interpretation), data management, and data monitoring/auditing (data quality assurance and harmonization) expertise for the proposed projects. The Cancer Center will have access to identifiable data from studies; analysis of this data will not be conducted under this protocol. Any future analysis conducted on data or specimens as part of CPDPC protocols will be conducted under a separate IRB approved data or lab protocol. The CDMC will leverage existing support, infrastructure, and resources from the Data Management and Coordinating Center for the Global Cancer Early Detection and the clinical expertise of the Division of Pathology/Lab Medicine at MDACC.
