Anxiety and Burnout in Anesthetists and Intensive Care Unit Nurses During Covid-19 Pandemic

The aim is to measure anxiety level and burnout frequency of healthcare workers including attending physicians, residents and nurses working at intensive care unit during COVID-19 pandemic. The study protocol had consisted of three parts. The first part was related to demographic details including age, sex, marital status, working position, past medical history. The second part of the survey was validated Turkish form of Beck anxiety inventory (BAI) It has 21 questions. Every question is a somatic symptom of anxiety. Participants scored them regarding how this symptom bothered them past week. Items have four possible answers: not at all (0 point), mildly (1 point), moderate (2 point), severe (3 point). Total anxiety score can be between 0 and 63. Participants were categorized as no or mild anxiety if the total beck anxiety score was between 0-16, and moderate to severe anxiety if it was more than 16 The last part of the survey was validated Turkish form of Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) to evaluate components of BOS

The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors affecting the ability and willingness of dentists to work during the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect of this situation on occupational burnout. A 51-question survey, including demographic and pandemic questions and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), was used as a data collection method and administered to dentists in Turkey via the internet in two stages. A link to the survey (onlineanketler.com) was sent to the participants by e-mail or social media (WhatsApp©). A total of 706 participants were included in the study. The second stage of the survey only applied to dentists who are assigned within the scope of COVID-19 measures in Turkey.

Together the external and internal factors lead to overall personality destruction. It was an observational study with a sample size of 443 participants.

A novel human coronavirus that is now named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (formerly called HCoV-19) emerged in Wuhan, China, in late 2019 and is now causing a pandemic. Human-to-human transmission is primarily achieved through close contact of respiratory droplets, direct contact with the infected individuals, or by contact with contaminated objects and surfaces. As a new chapter in human life opens up, the world seems to be divided into two parts pre- and post-COVID-19 era. Body mass index (BMI) is widely used to define obesity and overweight in adults. A BMI between 25 and 30 indicates overweight and above 30 indicates obesity. It is important to note that the levels of the inflammatory cytokines found in obese people are significantly higher than those in lean people, but they are still lower than those in individuals with infection or trauma. Obesity-mediated alterations in the airways and immune system are extremely important at the present moment considering SARS-Cov-2 infection. This study is designed to determine the effect of overweight and obesity with outcomes of patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 infection in critical care setting. Also, to see outcomes of assisted ventilation in obese patients. This may help in establishing strong association of obesity with COVID-19 in our part of the world. This may open new treatment strategies for COVID-19 by treating obesity as an essential risk factor.

Although COVID-19 affects primarily the respiratory system, several studies have shown evidence of cardiovascular alterations. Increased troponin levels were observed in a significant proportion of patients and this alteration was associated with higher mortality. In addition, case reports of cardiogenic shock or fulminant myocarditis have been communicated. Likewise, pulmonary embolism (PE), right ventricle dilation, and acute cor pulmonale (ACP) have also been described. Therefore, investigating cardiac function in COVID-19 is highly relevant, particularly in critically ill patients who are usually under sedation and mechanical ventilation, which may further impair cardiovascular function. Thus the objective is to determine the prevalence of left ventricle dysfunction and acute cor pulmonale, and its association with respiratory mechanics, in 100 consecutive critically ill COVID-19 patients, who were assessed with critical care echocardiography (CCE) within the first 24 hours of mechanical ventilation.
