Endogenous Lithium Clearance in Acute Kidney Injury

Acute Kidney Injury Due to SepsisProximal Tubule Function1 more

Critically ill patients are at high risk of developing acute kidney injury (AKI). Lithium is freely filtrated at the glomerulus and almost completely reabsorbed in the proximal tubule, which provides a quantitative estimation of proximal tubule reabsorption. We hypothesized that endogenous lithium reabsorption is impaired in the early stages of critical illness. We would like to study 10 ICU patients with AKI diagnosed, 10 patients without AKI, and 10 healthy controls. Blood and urine samples will be obtained at 08:00, 14:00 and 20:00 during one day. Renal clearance of creatinine (CCr) and lithium will be calculated.

Clinical Application of Quantitative Ultrasonographic Analysis in Early Kidney Injury

Patient Admitted to Hospital With Acute Kidney Injury Due to Sepsis

The purpose of this study was to quantify overall blood flow and renal cortical perfusion in patients with septic acute kidney injury (AKI) using ultrasound (US) Doppler and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS).

Nova Max Creatinine and eGFR Meter System

Chronic Kidney DiseasesAcute Kidney Injury

To assess the performance of the Nova Max Creatinine and eGFR assay in the hands of CLIA-Waived Point-of-Care users in at least three (3) distinct Point-of-Care clinical settings on venous, and capillary blood and compare the performance characteristics to a traceable laboratory reference method (the Siemens EXL creatinine determination). To assess the Ease of Use of the Nova Max Creatinine and eGFR Meter System in the hands of the intended CLIA-Waived Point-of-Care users.

A Study of Acute Kidney Injury in Children at Sohag University Hospital

Acute Kidney Injury

Acute kidney injury (AKI) has been traditionally defined as an abrupt loss of kidney function leading to a rapid decline in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), accumulation of waste products such as blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine, and dysregulation of extracellular volume and electrolyte homeostasis . Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a very common condition, especially among hospitalized patients. this work aims to study the demographics, etiology, clinical characteristics, and outcome of acute kidney injury in children in Sohag University Hospital - Pediatrics Department.

Renal Replacement Therapy and In-Hospital Mortality Incidence in Cardiac Surgery Associated Acute...

Acute Kidney Injury

The goal of this study is to analyse the relation of severe acute kidney injury post cardiac surgery which characterised by the need of renal replacement therapy, with in-hospital postoperative mortality incidence. The main question it aims to answer: To compare between patients complicated with acute kidney injury and exposure of renal replacement therapy (AKI-RRT) and patients complicated with acute kidney injury which does not require renal replacement therapy, in associated with in-hospital postoperative mortality.

Renal Tolerance of Amoxicillin and Cloxacillin Combination

EndocarditisAcute Kidney Injury

2015 European Society of Cardiology Guidelines have proposed the combination of Ampicillin and Cloxacillin for initial empirical treatment of infective endocarditis in acute severely ill patients (before pathogen identification). Yet this combination has never been studied in clinical trials. High dose penicillin treatments are associated with a risk of nephrotoxicity. The investigator's primary purpose is to describe patients treated with high dose Amoxicillin and Cloxacillin combination and to evaluate its renal tolerance.

Risk Factors And Outcomes Of Hospital Acquired AKI

AKI - Acute Kidney Injury

The aim of the study is to assess the common risk factors for development of hospital acquired acute kidney injury among hospitalized patients in Alexandria Main University hospital and their outcomes.

A Pharmacokinetics Study of Meropenem and Piperacillin in Patients With Sepsis

SepsisAcute Kidney Injury

This study was a single-center, open clinical study in Chinese septic patients with or without acute kidney injury. The aims of this study were to obtain the blood concentration and pharmacokinetic parameters of meropenem and piperacillin, exosome information and endogenous biomarker, and to explore the functional changes of OATs under the condition of sepsis and acute kidney injury.
