LI4 Acupuncture for Analgesia in Intrauterine Device Insertion
IUD Insertion ComplicationAcute PainPain during IUD insertion is substantially psychologic in origin, responds extremely well to non-pharmacologic interventions. Considering the fact that acupuncture is a modality exerting both psychologic and physiologic effects, the authors presume that acupuncture administration before IUD insertion may have positive effects on pain control. From this point of view, the aim of this study to investigate the effects of LI4 acupuncture administered shortly before IUD insertion on pain perception and discomfort of the women.
Intrathecal Midazolam, Fentanyl and Nalbuphine as Adjuvants to Bupivacaine in Spinal Anesthesia...
PainAcuteThe main limitations of spinal anesthesia are its short duration of action and do not provide prolonged postoperative analgesia when it is performed only with local anesthetics. Adding adjuvants drugs to intrathecal local anesthetics improves quality and duration of spinal blockade, and prolongs postoperative analgesia. It is also possible to reduce dose of local anesthetics, as well as total amount of systemic postoperative analgesics.
Intraosseous Morphine in Primary TKA
Knee DiseaseArthritis Knee2 moreThe research team wants to investigate if an intraosseous injection (directly into the bone marrow) of morphine during primary total knee replacement helps with post-operative pain following primary total knee replacement surgery. For this study patients will either be randomized into one of two groups: Group 1: Receives an intraosseous injection of morphine (mixed with standard antibiotics) during their primary total knee replacement or Group 2: Serves as the control group and only receives an intraosseous injection of antibioitics during their total knee replacement. The research team will have patients fill out a symptom journal for two weeks following their surgery to measure pain levels and pain medication consumed throughout the day as well as nausea and other symptoms. Additionally, the research team will take blood samples both intraoperatively and post-operatively (10 hours post-op) to measure the level of inflammatory markers as well as morphine.
BFA Treatment of Pain
Musculoskeletal PainAcute PainThe aim of this pilot study is to conduct an unblinded pilot randomized clinical study on the effectiveness and tolerability of auricular semi-permanent (ASP) vs intradermal (long), and pyonex needles in Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) for the treatment of pain.
PENG Block Combined to Wound Infiltration for Hip Replacement
Postoperative PainAnalgesia4 moreThis study analyze the effect of Pericapsular Nerve Group (PENG) Block combined to wound infiltration for analgesia after elective hip replacement. Half of participants will receive a PENG Block combined with wound infiltration, while the other half will receive wound infiltration alone.
Comparison of the Effects of Tenoxicam and Paracetamol on Postoperative Pain
Postoperative PainAcutePostoperative pain is generally caused by inflammation and oedema related to tissue trauma. Surgical tissue trauma is caused by many factors such as cotery-related burns, surgical incisions, dissections, and instrumental procedures like cutting, stretching, or compression. The pain stimulus is triggered by mediators released by the traumatic tissue and transmitted to the spinal cord and then to the upper centres of the brain. Tenoxicam is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic drug with a long duration of action, included in the oxicam subgroup of NSAIDs. Tenoxicam has been studied and found effective for many rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, extra-articular disorders, bursitis, tendonitis, and osteoarthritis. The primary aim of this study was to compare the effects of tenoxicam, paracetamol, and tenoxicam-paracetamol combination analgesic applications on the postoperative VAS score of double-jaw surgery patients. The secondary aim was to investigate the effects of these interventions on the number of both opioid and rescue analgesic drug consumption postoperatively.
US-Guided Serratus Anterior Plane Block Versus Thoracic Epidural in Patients Undergoing Thoracotomy...
Lung CancerAcute Pain1 moreThoracic surgeries is known to be one of the most painful surgeries . Multiple analgesic techniques have been used for post operative analgesia including Thoracic epidural , Patient Controlled Analgesia and systemic opioids. Opioids are associated with multiple sied effects including : PONV , Respiratory depression and ileus while thoracic epidural has its own complications such as hemodynamic instability , injury of spinal cord, pneumothorax and epidural hematoma. Peripheral nerve blocks provide good alternative for perioperative analgesia. The purpose of our study is to compare the effectiveness of perioperative continuous serratus anterior plane block versus continuous thoracic epidural in pain management during thoracic surgeries for malignancy resection.
Evaluation of Effect of Intravenous Morphine vs Intravenous Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen vs Intravenous...
Multiple TraumaAcute Pain Due to TraumaPain is an inseparable symptom of fractures and is the most important and common symptom that brings patients to medical centers; Therefore, paying attention to pain and its control is very important in the examination and treatment of fractures, and painkillers are usually needed for effective pain control. About 70-90% of the patients who go to the emergency room due to injuries have organ injuries. Among these patients, those who suffer from fractures endure severe pain, and since only 10% of patients have open fractures, the pain management of patients with closed fractures is particularly important. Various medicinal compounds have been used so far to control the pain of fractured patients, including opioid compounds such as morphine, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Opioids are the main drug class for pain control in fractures, but since they have significant side effects, various studies have been conducted in the field of comparing the anti-inflammatory effect of different drugs in fractures, and the effect of various combinations compared to opioids has been investigated. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories are always considered as an alternative to opioids and acetaminophen has also been considered to reduce the dosage of opioids, so in this study the effect of three combinations of intravenous morphine and ibuprofen plus intravenous acetaminophen and intravenous ibuprofen on pain levels in patients with a closed limb fracture will be investigated. This study is a blind randomized clinical trial, which investigates and compares the effect of intravenous morphine (Daropakhsh Company) with intravenous ibuprofen (Caspian Taamin Company) and intravenous acetaminophen (Caspian Taamin Company) with intravenous ibuprofen (Caspian Taamin Company) in reducing the pain of patients with closed limb fractures. The population investigated in this study will include all patients referred to the emergency room of Al-Zahra and Ayatollah Kashani educational centers in Isfahan city in 2022-2023.
