S0820, Adenoma and Second Primary Prevention Trial

Colorectal Neoplasms

The investigators hypothesize that the combination of eflornithine and sulindac will be effective in reducing a three-year event rate of adenomas and second primary colorectal cancers in patients previously treated for Stages 0 through III colon or rectal cancer.

Pilot Study of a National Screening Programme for Bowel Cancer in Norway

Colorectal CancerColorectal Adenomas

The Norwegian government has funded a pilot study of a national colorectal cancer screening programme. This implies initiation of a screening pilot in the catchment area for two hospitals in Norway. The target population is average risk men and women at age 50-74 years. The programme is designed as a comparative effectiveness programme evaluating acceptance and test performance for two screening methods - fecal occult blood testing (FOBT) and flexible sigmoidoscopy (FS). This protocol describes the main methodological issues, necessary resources and the expected effects.

99mTc Sestamibi SPECT/CT vs 18F Fluorocholine PET/CT

Parathyroid Adenoma

This study proposes the use of a well-established PET isotope, Fluorine-18 (18F), bound to Choline, for a prospective single-center, single-arm study for participants with suspected parathyroid adenoma and negative or equivocal standard of care 99mTc Sestamibi SPECT/CT

Validation of the Global Polypectomy Assessment Tool (GPAT)

Colorectal AdenomaColorectal Polyp1 more

Colorectal polypectomy is offten incompletely performed with high variability between endoscopists, resulting in interval cancer or repeated procedures. Current available scoring systems for polypectomy technique are lacking in different areas so the investigators developed the Global Polypectomy Assessment Tool (GPAT) which is an online video-based assessment tool for any colorectal polypectomy. The goal of the study is to assess the validity of GPAT through demonstrating the inter-rater agreement (Fleiss Kappa (κ)). GPAT has 20 items, contains evidence-based statements to aid interpretation, calculates an overall quality score and a complexity score.

Performance and Safety of MiWEndo-assisted Colonoscopy (MiWEndo II)

Colorectal CancerColorectal Polyp4 more

The study involves the planned use of a new microwave-based device during colonoscopy procedures in 50 patients to assess the performance and safety of its use for detection of colorectal polyps and lack of normal clinical practice modification. The device is a final design version, which has been previously tested in several preclinical studies (including phantom studies, an ex vivo study with human tissues, and an in vivo study with porcine model) and in a pilot study in humans (NCT05477836)

GastroBot: Artificial Intelligence Applied to Bowel Preparation

Colonic PolypColonic Neoplasms2 more

It is estimated that about 20% of colonoscopies have inadequate preparation. (5) This is associated with lengthy procedures and less detection of adenomas, reduces the screening intervals, and increases the costs and risks of complications. Several strategies have been proposed to improve the quality of bowel preparation. Mobile healthcare Apps have been developed to increase adherence to bowel preparation agents, improving the quality of bowel preparation. However, adherence to mobile healthcare Apps is also a quality criterion and a pending problem to solve with this new technology. GastroBot is a new technology based on artificial intelligence that allows, through a software bot, to carry out a personalized follow-up of the patient's bowel cleansing, advising the patient to overcome contingencies that arise with the preparation, which in other circumstances could lead to the failure of it. The primary aim of this study is to determine the improvement in bowel preparation after GastroBot assistance compared with the traditional explanation. As a secondary aim, this study also pursues to determine adenoma and polyp detection rates (ADR and PDR, respectively), bowel preparation agents' tolerance, and GastroBot functionality.

Correlation Between SFRP1 and Colorectal Cancer and Adenoma

Early Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer and Adenoma

In summary, our study demonstrated the methylation sites of SFRP1 gene promoter in patients with colorectal cancer and adenoma and found SFRP1_16_17_18 CpG site was good performance as a diagnostic marker of colorectal cancer.
