Comfortable and Stabilizing Chin & Forehead Rest Attachment for Slit Lamp Configurations

Age-Related Macular DegenerationDiabetic Retinopathy5 more

In this study, participants will be imaged using two Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) devices: device N, a standard conventional OCT device with an invention (comfortable chin and forehead rest that can be adjusted to fit each individual's size) attached to the device; and device C, the standard conventional OCT device with no invention attached. The investigators will assess whether the chin and forehead rest attachment (invention) provides a more comfortable experience for patients.

Comparison of Ocular Changes by Surgical Menopause Using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Corneal DeformityMacular Degeneration Advanced1 more

The aim of this study is to investigate the early changes in macular thickness, corneal thickness and intraocular pressure in young women undergoing surgical menopause. Methods: Eye findings of 30 surgical menopausal (Postoperative 3-6 months) and 48 natural menopause and 22 healty women (control) were evaluated using OCT. Women with no known eye disease, no chronic disease (Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiac Disease any Autoimmune disease) and no migraine in addition to non smokers were included in the study. Women using any hormone and obese women ( BMI >25 kg/m2) were excluded. Macular and corneal thickness and intraocular pressure (IOP) were measured in both eyes of the women

AMD Ryan Initiative Study (ARIS)

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Objective: To learn more about AMD. Eligibility: People ages 55 and older with any of the following: AMD or changes in the retina that put them at risk for AMD RPD Healthy eyes Design: Participants will be screened with: Eye exam: The pupil will be dilated with eye drops. Eye pressure and movements will be checked. Pictures will be taken of the inside of the eye. Reading an eye chart. Optical coherence tomography (OCT): The eyes are dilated. A machine measures the thickness of the retina. Participants will have a first visit that includes: Repeat of screening procedures Medical history Physical exam Questions about vision and general health Dark adapted fundus perimetry: Participants sit in the dark for 40 minutes. Then they sit at a machine that shines lights in the eyes. Dark adaption testing: Participants sit in the dark for 45 minutes. The pupils are dilated. They push a button when they see light in a machine for up to 1 hour. Participants will have annual visits for up to 5 years to repeat the tests in the first visit. Participant data may be shared for other research. ...

Exudative Macular Degeneration

We propose to undertake a retrospective review of approximately 200 patients with a diagnosis of exudative macular degeneration treated with triple combination therapy (Bevacizumab, Dexamethasone and Photo-dynamic therapy) during the years of 2006 to 2010 at The Retina Center and compare those results with an additional group of approximately 200 patients also treated with triple combination therapy and 20 mg of daily oral zeaxanthin.

Aflibercept Injection Into the Vitreous Body of the Eye: Study to Learn More About Patient Relevant...

Macular Degeneration

In this clinical study researchers want to gain a deeper understanding of treatment consistence under real world conditions over the course of 24 months of Aflibercept injections into the eye for patients suffering from abnormal growth of new blood vessels under the retina (neovascular age-related macular degeneration). The study aims to identify potential reasons that may allow classification of non-consistence as patient or physician driven. They want to describe treatment effectiveness (how well the treatment works) and associations between treatment effectiveness, non-consistence and patient relevant outcomes, such as vision specific quality of life and treatment satisfaction.
