Heavy Menstrual Bleeding and Iron Deficiency Anemia

Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

In the present study, we test the ability of AMSS as a simple tool to identify women with HMB who have ID/ IDA. We will compare the AMSS score to patients' hemoglobin and serum ferritin in women with self-reported HMB and women with normal menstrual flow.

A Two-part Single- and Repeat-dose Study of CSJ137 in Anemic Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

AnemiaIron-Deficiency

The study will assess the safety, tolerability and efficacy of CSJ137 in chronic hemodialysis patients. It is hypothesized that treatment with CSJ137 may improve the level of hemoglobin in patients on chronic hemodialysis with iron-restricted anemia while reducing the need for dosing with erythropoietin and intravenous iron in these patients.

Hospitalization & Mortality in Patients With Iron Deficiency CKD and HF Treated With i.v. Iron....

Iron DeficiencyHeart Failure1 more

Iron deficiency, independent of anemia, appears to increase morbidity and mortality as well as impairing health-related quality of life in chronic heart failure (CHF), and these effects are compounded when patients also experience chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study was designed to determine the effects of intravenous iron treatment on morbidity and mortality following an initial 6-month period and a longer period of up to 5 years.

Safety and Efficacy Study of Oral Ferric Maltol Compared to Intravenous Iron To Treat Iron Deficiency...

AnemiaIron-Deficiency2 more

The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of ferric maltol and intravenous iron (IVI) Ferric Carboxy Maltose in the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) and subsequent maintenance of haemoglobin in subjects with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Hypophosphatemia With Ferric Carboxymaltose Vs. Iron Dextran in Iron Deficiency Secondary to Heavy...

Iron Deficiency Anemia

The primary objective of this study is to assess the safety of an investigational intravenous iron (ferric carboxymaltose [FCM]) or an equal dose of iron dextran and explore the mechanism of hypophosphatemia following administration of FCM or that of an equal dose of iron dextran when treating women with iron deficiency anemia due to heavy uterine bleeding (HUB).

Intravenous Ferric Carboxymaltose vs IV Iron Sucrose or IV Iron Dextran in Treating Iron Deficiency...

Iron Deficiency Anemia

The purpose of this study is to compare safety and the oxidative stress potential of two doses of an investigational IV iron, ferric carboxymaltose (FCM), compared to an equal single dose of IV iron sucrose or IV iron dextran in the treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) in female subjects.

Enhancing Treatment of Iron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia With an Antioxidant, Vitamin E...

Iron DeficiencyIron Deficiency Anemia

The study addresses treatment of iron deficiency, the most common nutritional deficiency that infants and young children encounter. With the knowledge that iron deficiency may irreversibly affect a baby's long-term neurodevelopment and behavior, the investigators are offering free screening blood draws at Children's Hospital Colorado to older babies and toddlers (9-24 months old). If their blood results indicate a serum ferritin of ≤ 15 micrograms/dL without the presence of an elevated C-reactive protein (CRP), they will be invited to continue in the intervention portion of the study, where they will receive iron supplements as well as vitamin E (or placebo) for an eight week treatment period. The rationale for the study is to test whether addition of Vitamin E, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, improves the treatment response to supplemental iron.
