FDG PET-Scan Analysis of Evolutivity of Non-surgical Aneurysm of Abdominal Aorta

Medically-treated Aneurysm of Abdominal Aorta

The primary aim of the study is to determine if the evolutivity of global and segmentary captation of FDG-F18, which can be measured in the wall of abdominal aorta aneurysm, is predictive of the 9 month evolution of diameter and volume of the aneurysm, measured globally and segmentary in angioscan.

Effect of Simvastatin on Cardiac Function

Rheumatic Heart DiseaseCongenital Heart Disease2 more

It is well know that statins have been used to low cholesterol to prevent and treat coronary artery disease for many years. It was also reported that statins could protect endothelial function and cardiac function during coronary artery bypass graft. However, some results were controversial. Also, there is no clinical data available on statin cardiac protection during surgery in China where rheumatic heart disease is prevalent. Thus, the investigators are trying to see whether statins can protect heart injury during cardiac surgery in Chinese. Part of patients will receive statin treatment and part of will not before surgery in the study. Both patients' heart function will be measured and compared after surgery to determine whether statins can protect heart injury during heart surgery.

Aortic Valve Dynamics During Exercise After Valve Sparing Root Replacement Surgery

Aneurysm Aortic RootAortic Valve1 more

Aortic valve sparing operations are applied in patients with a non-calcified tricuspid or bicuspid aortic valve associated with a root aneurysm, in order to preserve the valve, and avoid new aortic dilatation by stabilizing the aortic valve anulus with a graft prosthesis. This results in a normal functioning aortic valve, with a low forward gradient across the left ventricular outflow tract. Little is known about how the repaired aortic valve behaves in conditions of controlled exercise, and how the gradients across the valve change during exercise.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Ischemic Pre-conditioning on the Morbidity and Mortality of Open...

Aortic AneurysmSurgery

Patients having a planned open surgery of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms and enrolled in the study will be randomized the day of the surgery in 2 groups: Arm 1 : Patients with aortic clamping with pre-conditioning Arm 2 : Patients with aortic clamping without pre-conditioning Patients will be then followed, during 60 days after surgery.

Patient Tailored Contrast Volume for Preoperative CT Angiography of the Aorta

Aortic Aneurysm

An in-house calculator was developed to calculate the appropriate contrast dose, rather than standardly administering a 120ml dose. This study aims for a more uniform contrast enhancement in patients by means of adjusting (lowering) contrast dose to patient parameters.

Dual Energy CT Urography With Reduced Iodinated Contrast

Aortic Aneurysm

The goal of this study is to validate that Dual Energy CT (DECT) urography when performed with a 50% reduction in iodinated contrast dose results in a CT exam with equal or better image quality and equal or better diagnostic capability compared to traditional Single Energy CT (SECT) performed with a standard contrast dose.

Screening of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms Among Male Patients With TIA Symptoms

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) among male patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) symptoms. Ethiology of AAA is known to be common with atherosclerotic arterial diseases (coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease), so the hypothesis is that AAA should be more common among these TIA patients, thus making screening of these patients (for AAA) more cost-efficient. Study will be carried out as a prospective screening study. Data will be collected in North Karelia Central Hospital within one year. All male patients with TIA symptoms will be recruited for the study and screened for AAA with ultrasound.

Screening Programme for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm by Hand-Held-Ultrasonography in Primary Health...

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

To determine the prevalence of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) in the Spanish men over 60 years through a screening program in Primary Health Care using a hand-held ultrasound and to analyze the relationship between cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular disease in patients with AAA.
