Sensory Workshops and Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia

In the literature the use of olfactory dimension in the treatment of anorexia has not been verified experimentally. The investigator hypothesize that the therapeutic use of a dietary nature olfactory stimuli in anorexia nervosa promotes food recovery. The team propose a prospective study over a period of 12 months in which we use the Body Mass Index (BMI) as the primary endpoint of the state of anorexia nervosa patients.

Social Cognition in Patients With Anorexia Nervosa- the Study Examines Social Understanding in Patients...

Anorexia Nervosa

The current research has two goals: first to validate the Hebrew version of a new measurement for assessing mentalization failures. The second goal is to examine the connection between attachment, emotional regulation strategies, mentalization, and specific mentalization failures - As they manifested in anorexia nervosa (AN) compared with non-patient controls. The study includes computer tasks, questionnaires and two short tasks administrated by the examiner.

Care in Patients Hospitalized for Anorexia Nervosa at the Time of the Coronavirus-19 Epidemic (QUALICOVID)...

Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia nervosa is a severe psychiatric condition. On the nutritional level, one of the objectives recommended by the High Authority of Health is to "achieve and maintain an appropriate weight and nutritional status". It is recommended that, in the event of hospitalisation, this should be "as long as necessary" and be based on a weight contract as a condition for discharge. Within the Pôle Universitaire de Psychiatrie de l'Enfant et de l'Adolescent of the Centre Psychothérapique de Nancy, an inpatient unit takes care of children and adolescents with a specific valence in the management of patients suffering from eating disorders. Since the first quarter of 2020, France has been progressively affected by the pandemic of the coronavirus 2019, Covid-19. This pandemic has led to unprecedented containment measures in France and around the world. At the time of the announcement of the implementation of containment, the investigators proposed to the parents of patients hospitalized in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department of the Nancy Psychotherapy Center who were approaching their discharge weight to be able to end their hospitalization prematurely. As a follow-up to this hospitalisation, intensive outpatient care was offered to the families, in accordance with State recommendations in connection with the pandemic. In this hospitalized unit, weekly outpatient consultations were maintained and coupled with telephone interviews, teleconsultation interviews and a telephone hotline for the healthcare team. The objective of the study is to explore, in a qualitative way, the experiences of patients hospitalized in the child psychiatry department for anorexia nervosa at the time of the coronavirus epidemic in France and those of their parents, in relation to the reorganization of care.

Geriatric Anorexia Study 2.0

HealthyFrailty

Reduction in appetite and/or food intake among older individuals is referred to as anorexia of aging (AOA, also known as Geriatric Anorexia). AOA is linked with myriad comorbidities associated with aging, contributes significantly to adverse health consequences in old age, and has been used as a predictor of morbidity and mortality. The overall aim of this study is to compare feasibility of body weight, body fat, body composition and activity assessments in elderly subjects in long-term care (LTC), nursing home, or assisted living facilities. This will be accomplished through the use of questionnaires in addition to devices that evaluate movement, body composition, and body weight.

A Neurocognitive Model of Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia Nervosa

The purpose of this study is to investigate thought processes and neural mechanisms that may contribute to the development of habitual behaviors. The investigators hypothesize that patients with AN will perform differently than people without eating disorders on a series of neuropsychological tasks and will show different neural activation patterns in functional neuroimaging scans.

Severe Anorexia Nervosa Personal Recovery

Anorexia NervosaEating Disorder

A growing qualitative literature about personal recovery process in mental disorders emerges. However in Anorexia Nervosa (AN), it remains few understood, especially in severe AN during adolescence. This pilot study seeks to enhance understanding of recovery from AN in France and support the dissemination of the PR paradigm among the French mental health community working with AN, as a complement to the medical approach. A qualitative research according to Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method was conducted .Five young women hospitalized ten years before for a severe AN during their adolescence were interviewed with a semi-structured face-to-face interview on recovery process.

Microbiome-mediated Weight, Anxiety, and Stress Dysregulation in Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia Nervosa

The purpose of this research study is to analyze the microorganisms residing in the gut of patients with anorexia nervosa. Research has begun to link changes in the intestinal microbiota with diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBS), asthma, and obesity, but although some studies have investigated the intestinal microbiota in overweight/obese individuals, very little is known about the intestinal microbiota in underweight individuals. The investigators aim to identify the enteric bacterial groups associated with adiposity, BMI, anxiety, and stress in patients with anorexia nervosa.

Overgeneralization of Conditioned Fear as a Pathogenic Marker of Anorexia Nervosa

AnorexiaGeneralized Anxiety

Anorexia nervosa is a chronic mental health condition characterized by maladaptive food consumption (i.e., hypophagia) and distorted body image. There is substantial evidence of a phenotypic overlap between anorexia nervosa and anxiety disorders, as well as data suggesting the two share a common genetic pathway. Despite these findings, little research has examined fear conditioning among individuals with anorexia nervosa, and no research has examined whether individuals with anorexia nervosa have a propensity to overgeneralize conditioned fear stimuli, one of the more robust fear-conditioning markers of anxiety disorders. The current study assesses generalization of conditioned fear with fear-potentiated startle: the cross-species enhancement of the startle reflex when an organism is in a state of fear. Animal data, as well as an emerging literature in humans, tightly links fear-potentiated startle to the amygdala-based fear circuit. Thus, evidence of overgeneralized fear-potentiated startle in anorexia nervosa would link this eating disorder to hypersensitivity of the fear circuit and could inform the development of novel pharmacologic and psychological treatments for anorexia nervosa based on treatment models used in the anxiety disorders literature.
