This multi-center observational study will prospectively collect data from patients who have an indication for servo ventilation therapy. This registry is intended to characterize the patient populations that may benefit from DreamStation BiPAP autoSV therapy (PR DS-autoSV, Philips Respironics, Monroeville, PA) in real life settings. In addition, this registry will assess adherence to the PR DS-autoSV therapy, the therapeutic benefits, collect morbidity and mortality data of servo ventilation in patients with central sleep apnea (CSA) and complex sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).

The goal of this study is to determine if sleep disordered breathing results in a measurable degree of overnight myocardial stress/injury in patients with acutely decompensated congestive heart failure. A secondary goal is to determine of a period of medical management attenuates this sleep disordered breathing-induced cardiac injury in this patient population.

The study assesses cognitive complaints in newly diagnosed patients with obstructive sleep apnea with no medical-comorbity affecting cognition. Cognitive complaints will be compared to healthy controls matched on age, sex and educational level. Factors related to cognitive complaints will also be assessed, including anxiety and depressive symptoms, complaints of fatigue and sleepiness, quality of life, psychological coping strategies and objective measures of cognition. Patients starting treatment for sleep apnea (continuous positive airway pressure or mandibular repositioning device) will be reassessed on all measures after 6 months of treatment to study the impact of treatment as usual on cognitive complaints and its related factors.

The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD) in clinically stable cardiologic outpatients of a German university clinic by means of polygraphy. Furthermore, the practicability of the underlying diagnostic process in clinical application is assessed as well as the sensitivity and specificity of polygraphy as compared to the reference standard of polysomnography. Another aim is to determine the individual cardiovascular risk profile by pulse wave analysis and risk classification according to European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC), "ESH/ESC risk".

Sleep apnoea (SA) is a common condition in adults and children that causes disturbed sleep and daytime symptoms. It is characterised by disrupted breathing with disturbed sleep patterns. In adults this can lead to dangerous daytime sleepiness affecting for example driving performance. In children it may lead to hyperactivity in the day and poor school performance. There are a number of techniques for diagnosing the disorder but they can affect the quality of sleep which sometimes makes them inaccurate. Most are unsuitable for small children who cannot understand the value of the tests and tend to remove the monitoring wires and devices in the night. This study aims to validate a new non contact device "Safescan", based on low power radar technology, which can be put under a bed and record breathing patterns with no measuring device in contact with the sleeper. In this initial study the device will be validated in adults, against the gold standard of polysomnography (PSG) in the sleep laboratory at Royal Papworth Hospital.

The study hypothesis is that the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea in patients presenting for total knee or total hip arthroplasty is higher than generally suspected. The study will include just one arm and results will be compared to a literature control group. Participants referred for preoperative evaluation will be screened using a standard questionnaire. Those at high risk of obstructive sleep apnea will then undergo a formal overnight sleep study (polysomnography).
