Sleep Disordered Breathing and Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers in Normal Aging and Mild Cognitive...

Sleep Disorder

The purpose of this study is to determine the sleep patterns of subjects with or without sleep disturbances (insomnia, sleep apnea) and compare these findings with their previous FDG/PIB PET, structural MRI and brain blood flow scams performed during their participation in the Following studies 'Alzheimer's Disease Core Center (ADCC) Clinical Evaluation' (IRB: 2942), MRI Progression Markers of Cognitive Decline in the Elderly' (IRB:09-0586), or 'Imaging Neuro inflammation in Alzheimer's Disease with [11C] Arachidonic Acid (AA) and PET'(IRB: 10-00442).

Sleep Apnea After Extubation

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is common after extubation, approximately 71%, and is independently associated with hypertension and metabolic disease contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. Respiratory polygraphy is a simpler alternative to in-laboratory polysomnography for the management of more symptomatic patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of sleep apnea after extubation by respiratory polygraphy.

CPAP Observance During the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) Pandemic

Sleep Apnea Syndromes

The hypothesis of this work is that the COVID 19 pandemic and the associated lockdowns are likely to modify the adherence to positive airway pressure (PAP) treatments among patients with sleep apnea. Identifying these patients and identifying adherence "trajectories" over time would help mobilize human and telemedicine resources on the patients most in need.

Physical Status of OSA Patients

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Assessment of the Accuracy of the Non-invasive Wireless Armband Gabi Baby Band for Continuous Vital...

Blood Oxygen DesaturationsSleep-Disordered Breathing

During a polysomnography test (PSG) previously prescribed by a physician, the patient also wears the Gaby Baby Band (GBB) during an entire night of sleep. After the test, data from the device and from the PSG (HR, SpO2, BR) will be saved and analysed in the aim to assess the actual accuracy of the GBB with golden standard values (ECG, Oximeter, belly belt). In a second analysis, the aim is to improve the accuracy of the GBB algorithm.

Prevalence and Dynamic of Sleep-disordered Breathing in Patients Pre and Post Heart Transplantation...

Sleep Disordered Breathing CentralHeart Failure1 more

Sleep-disordered breathing is believed to appear at a high prevalence in end-stage heart failure patients and the presence of sleep-disordered breathing has been associated with increased mortality. This study is designed to investigate prevalence and dynamics of sleep-disordered breathing in end-stage heart failure patients pre and post heart transplantation.

Ischaemic Stroke and Sleep Apnea in Northern Part of Finland

Sleep ApnoeaCerebral Palsy

Obstructive sleep apnoea is a risk factor for ischaemic stroke. study hypothesis: In prospective study the investigators want to know how many ischaemic stroke patients have sleep apnoea and does thrombolysis play a role in severity of osa in six months follow up.

ECG Derived Respiration for Automated Screening of Sleep Disordered Breathing in Chronic Heart Failure...

Heart FailureSleep Apnea Syndromes1 more

The prevalence of sleep disordered breathing (SDB) reaches more than 50% in chronic heart failure patients (CHF). The main consequence is an increase risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events. A treatment by continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or adaptative servo-ventilation (ASV) reduces this risk. Nevertheless, 75% of severe SDB cases remains undiagnosed and untreated especially due to cost and time delay for polysomnography examination which is the gold standard for SDB diagnosis. Indeed, alternative methods are developed. Some methods, based on nocturnal ECG analysis showed promising results but they are not validated and adapted for cardiac population. Thus, the goal of present study is to test the accuracy of ECG derived respiration signal to screen SDB in a CHF population.

Sleep Disordered Breathing

Sleep Disordered BreathingTetraplegia

Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) occurs in 2% to 4% of the non-disabled adult population and is characterized by periods of complete breathing cessation (apnea) or marked reductions in airflow (hypopnea) during sleep. By contrast, the diagnosis of SDB affects as many as 83% of persons with tetraplegia within one year of their injury. While some consider daytime somnolescence from poor sleep quality a 'tolerable annoyance', SDB can decrease near-term physical performance and mental alertness, decay memory and intellectual processing, invoke mood disturbances, decrease healthrelated quality of life(HRQoL), and cause vehicular or occupational injury. Recurrent sleep arousal is now strongly associated with cardiometabolic (CM) component risks including insulin resistance, obesity, inflammatory stress, and endothelial dysfunction. Despite considerable advancements in understanding and treating SDB - including favored use of positive airway pressure (PAP) - an evidence base sufficient to warrant routine evaluation and treatment of SDB and related sleep disorders remains elusive for those with spinal cord injury (SCI). To address these knowledge and treatment shortcomings the investigators will conduct a hypothesis-driven study with specific aims that will: 1) describe by stakeholder survey the clinically-relevant determinants of sleep quality in persons with chronic tetraplegia, 2) assess clinical features and co-morbid risks associated with SDB in persons with tetraplegia, and 3) determine in persons with tetraplegia having SDB whether treatment using PAP reduces health risks and improves HRQoL. Hypothesis 1 will be tested using data derived from a website survey.
