Confirming the Efficacy/Mechanism of Family Therapy for Children With Low Weight ARFID

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder

This study is examining the efficacy and mechanism of family therapy compared to usual care for children between the ages of 6 and 12 who are diagnosed with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. Preliminary data suggest that family therapy is superior to usual care and that improvement in parental self-efficacy related to feeding their children is the mechanism of treatment. In addition, this study will attempt to identify specific patient groups who respond to family therapy.

Chompions! A Treatment Study for Childhood Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

ARFIDPicky Eating1 more

Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is a disorder that affects toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults. Individuals with ARFID are not able to consume an adequate amount or variety of food to a degree that it affects their mental and/or physical health. ARFID often begins in early childhood so it is important to treat children in early in life as possible to prevent any negative consequences of poor nutrition. There are currently no treatments for young children with ARFID. The investigators have developed two different study programs and the purpose of this study is to test them out and see if they help children with ARFID and to learn more about how these study programs work.

Implementation of Evidence-Based Treatment of Restrictive Eating Disorder With Pronounced Starvation...

Anorexia NervosaAnorexia Nervosa3 more

In the Region Skåne in Sweden, the investigators have developed guidelines for providing intensive and evidence-based treatment during the first month in case of severe restrictive eating disorder with pronounced starvation. The project is aiming at implementing this treatment program in the general Child Psychiatric clinic, with its main focus on the implementation of evidence based family therapy. The study aims to evaluate the implementation of a standardized treatment model during the first month. The outcome will be compared with the patients and families who have been in treatment before the ROCKETLAUNCH project started.

Evaluating Hunger Manipulation During Feeding Intervention

Feeding DisordersFeeding and Eating Disorders1 more

The primary objective of this study is to determine to what extent hunger provocation, via rapid weaning from enteral feedings, is acceptable and feasible and to evaluate the effect of this intervention when used in an intensive multidisciplinary feeding intervention (IMFI) model of treatment (standard care), for individuals with Avoidant Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) who are dependent on enteral feedings to meet their daily caloric needs.

Genetic Architecture of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder

ARFIDEating Disorders3 more

The goal of this observational study is to rapidly accelerate knowledge about the biology of avoidant and restrictive food intake disorder or ARFID in children ages 7-17 and in adults. The investigators will be evaluating the genetic and environmental origins of ARFID. Participants will be asked to answer questionnaires online and to submit a saliva sample for DNA using a kit that will be mailed to their home.
