P Gingivalis Oral Infection, Intimamedia Thickening in Infants, Atherosclerosis
Tooth EruptionAtherosclerosisTo determine if there is an association between Porphyromonas gingivalis infection of dental gingiva during primary tooth eruption and thickening of the radial artery intimamedial layers. Thickening of these layers in infants could be a promoting factor for later development of atherosclerosis.

ORACLE-NIRS: Lipid cORe Plaque Association With CLinical Events: a Near-InfraRed Spectroscopy Study...
Coronary AtherosclerosisThis is a multi-center, investigator initiated study that will prospectively examine treatment strategies and outcomes of patients who underwent clinically-indicated Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS). The information collected will be used to determine the frequency of NIRS imaging performed at the participating sites and to examine the clinical outcomes of the NIRS-detected Lipid Core Plaques (LCPs).

RLIP76 in Human Serum in Adults With Rheumatologic Diseases
Carotid AtherosclerosisIt is the investigators aim to determine the feasibility of directly detecting anti-RLIP76 auto-antibodies in human serum using prepared RLIP76 antigen peptides in persons with rheumatologic disease and persons without rheumatologic diesease ("healthy subjects").

Defining the Role of Endothelial Function Assessment Using EndoPAT in Cardiovascular Risk Screening...
AtherosclerosisOur study aims to evaluate endothelial function using the non-invasive EndoPAT device, and compare this assessment to traditional cardiovascular risk calculation tools and carotid intima media thickness measurements. We look to determine whether the discovery of endothelial dysfunction provides incremental risk stratification over traditional and CIMT methods of cardiovascular risk assessment.

Predictors of Coronary Artery Calcium Progression in Adults With a Prior Zero Coronary Artery Calcium...
Coronary Artery DiseaseEndothelial Dysfunction1 moreThis study is a non-randomized prospective cohort study that will define the rate of index atherosclerotic plaque development in adults with a prior coronary artery calcium (CAC) score of 0 given prior CAC zero > 5 years previous. Ancillary testing of serum, whole blood, and endothelial dysfunction will be performed to investigate any detectable systemic processes that predict CAC development.

Contribution of Hepatic and Intestinal Lipoproteins to Human Atherosclerosis
Heart DiseaseThis study will use excess tissue from endoscopic or surgical procedures to examine the elements of plaque that are found in the carotid walls of patients who have a type of heart and blood vessel disease called atherosclerosis. Tissue will be collected from patients undergoing carotid procedures as well as patients undergoing liver and/or intestinal biopsies. This lab study will examine the different types of proteins that play a role in developing heart plaque.

Telerobotic Ultrasound for Carotid Imaging - Feasibility Study
Carotid Artery DiseaseAtherosclerosis18 moreIn this proposal, the investigators will demonstrate the feasibility and noninferiority of telerobotic ultrasonography as compared to traditional manual acquisition in performing a limited carotid Duplex examination and in carotid plaque detection.

Endothelial Function-guided Therapy Compared to Usual Care in Patients With NOCAD
Coronary AtherosclerosisThe current study is designed to test the hypothesis that compared to conventional treatment; endothelial function-guided treatment reduces adverse cardiovascular events in patients with non-obstructive coronary artery disease documented at clinically indicated coronary angiography.

Near-Infrared Spectroscopy and Ultrasound Investigation of Coronary Artery Plaque
Coronary Artery DiseaseAtherosclerosisThe primary objective of this study is to characterize coronary artery blockages as determined by the LipiScan combined NIRS-IVUS catheter using multi-vessel imaging.

Effects of Lomitapide on Carotid and Aortic Atherosclerosis
Homozygous Familial HypercholesterolemiaStudy to assess changes in carotid and aortic atherosclerosis in patients being treated with lomitapide.
