Efficacy and Mechanism of rTMS in Children With ASD: an Open-label Clinical Trial(Ⅱ)

Autism Spectrum Disorder

This study is a open-label clinical trial involving over 30 children aged ≥4 years with autism spectrum disorder. During the study, subjects received repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) intervention at the left primary motor cortex (M1) 10 times per day for 5 days. From the beginning of intervention to the end of 4 weeks after the completion of intervention, the subjects's clinical symptomatology, cognitive psychology, neuroimaging, and adverse events will be followed up. Based on results from a recent unpublished pilot data, the investigators propose that cTBS treatment will induce a significant improvement in verbal/social communication performance in ASD children.

Development of Self-regulation by Dialectial Behavioural Therapy in Adults With Autism

Autism Spectrum DisorderRegulation1 more

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are at risk to develop more pervasive emotion-dysregulation. In this study experiences of adults with ASD and severe emotion dysregulation with Integrative Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and the mechanisms and processes that hinder and advance the pathway to recovery will be studied, in order to make the treatment more tailored and effective for this target group.

The Effect of Tidal Model-Based Psychiatric Nursing Approach on Mothers of Children With Autism...

Autism Spectrum Disorder

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the effect of Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach on internalized stigma and psychological well-being in mothers of children diagnosed with ASD. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: [Is the Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach effective on the internalized stigma of mothers with children diagnosed with ASD?] [Is the Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach effective on the psychological well-being of mothers with children diagnosed with ASD?] Data will be collected through scale forms and face-to-face individual interviews. Within the scope of the pre-test application, data will be collected from all mothers in the sample group using the "Personal Information Form", "Parents' Internalized Stigma in Mental Illness Scale" and "Psychological Well-Being Scale". Face-to-face individual interviews will be conducted with each individual in the intervention group in line with the Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach. The researchers will compare the experimental group and the control group to see whether the Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach applied to mothers with children diagnosed with ASD has an effect on internalized stigma and psychological well-being.

Early Screening of Autism Spectrum Disorder in General and Pediatric Practices

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Early screening for Autism Spectrum Disorder has been validated using different screening tools, in particular M-CHAT-R and ITC in different countries. Unfortunaltely, in France, they are not often used. Thus, medium age for diagnosis in France is late. Yet, early interventions has shown efficiency (grade B of HAS 2010 recommendations, HAS 2018) . The American have described an efficient method using partnership between pediatricians and autism specialists (Miller et al). Autism Spectrum Disorders concern 1% of population. The third Autism Plan in France then HAS 2018 Recommandations and The 2018 National Strategy for Autism have propose to implement three levels for early diagnostic : the frontline is constituted by professionals who can detect the firsts signs ( in nurseries, general practice, pediatric practice, early childhood centers), the second line is constituted by the proximity network of professionals who can diagnose " simple " autism ( CMP, CAMSP, neurologic pediatricians), the third line is constituted by expert teem in specialized hospital centers for neurodevelopmental disorders diagnostic. This organization is, for now, not efficient. First lines professionals are not always formed to autism detection. When the screening is efficient, professionals have difficulties to address children to proximity teem trained to autism diagnostic because of delays or lack of professionals. The second line professionals are note always trained to use diagnostic tools and tend to address all the children to the third line, even when the diagnostic is not complex. The third lign is saturated by all these requests.

A Hybrid Effectiveness-implementation Trial of a High School-based Executive Function Treatment...

Executive DysfunctionAutism Spectrum Disorder1 more

This study will test the effectiveness of a school-based cognitive behavioral executive function (EF) intervention, Unstuck & On Target High School (UOT:HS), for transition-age youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). UOT:HS was designed to be embedded in high schools and delivered by school staff to improve generalization of skills, increase access to mental health care, and fill a gap in evidence-based approaches to support postsecondary transition. UOT:HS targets flexibility and planning skills and focuses on key functions needed for adult success across 25, 1-hour lessons. School staff will be trained to deliver UOT:HS, study staff will provide ongoing check-ins, and parents will be offered home extensions for each lesson and two trainings to generalize skills to the home environment. Behavioral and parent-report data will be collected prior to intervention, post-intervention, and at 4-to-6-month follow-up.

A Controlled Trial of Growth Hormone in Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and Idiopathic Autism

Phelan-McDermid SyndromeAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

This clinical trial will use growth hormone as a novel treatment for Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS) and idiopathic autism. A double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial design will be used in 30 children with idiopathic autism and 15 children with PMS to evaluate the the effects of growth hormone on visual evoked potentials (VEPs), socialization, language, and repetitive behaviors. The researchers expect to provide evidence for the feasibility of using VEPs in PMS, and to show support for growth hormone in ameliorating clinical symptoms of ASD.

Prodromal ImPACT Intervention for Children at Elevated Likelihood of ASD

Autism Spectrum Disorder

This randomised-controlled trial will assess the effect of an early intervention on the social-communicative abilities and brain activity of infants with elevated likelihood of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The children´s social-communicative abilities and the related brain activity will be evaluated at three time points: before the start of the intervention (pre-intervention), immediately after its conclusion (post-intervention) and 6 months after its conclusion (follow-up).

Early Diagnostic Response Model (EDRM)

Autism Spectrum DisorderAutism

Three districts of Babies Can't Wait (BCW) will be referring families with children seeking an autism spectrum disorder (autism) diagnosis at the Emory Autism Center's (EAC) Child Screening and Assessment Clinic. The objective of this study is to develop, pilot, and evaluate a diagnostic protocol for children identified at high risk for autism in the BCW early intervention program screening (part of a public health service). This program evaluation will be using pre- and post-data and data collected through the process to evaluate the effectiveness of the EDRM pilot.
