The Efficacy of Robot-enhanced Therapy for Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autistic Disorders Spectrum

This trial will test the efficacy of robot-enhanced interventions for developing social skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The study will compare, in an equivalence design, an innovative intervention delivered by a semi-autonomous robotic agent with standard behavioral intervention. The target group is children between 3 and 6 years old which will be randomly allocated to one of the two treatments. Each treatment will be delivered over 8 bi-weekly sessions of 45 minutes each.

Communication Intervention for Toddlers With Autism

Autism Spectrum Disorder

The goal of this study is to conduct an efficacy trial to determine whether an early communication intervention which blends two evidence-based interventions, Enhanced Milieu Teaching (EMT) and Joint Attention, Symbolic Play and Regulation Intervention (JASPER), improves social communication in toddlers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Parent Language Intervention for Autism

Autism

Improving social communication outcomes for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has important public health implications. The proposed research is a randomized controlled trial of 108 children with ASD that examines how specific parent characteristics influence outcomes of two different parent-mediated language interventions. Evaluating effective language intervention strategies for children with ASD supports NIDCD's mission of behavioral research aimed to remediate the disordered process of language development in children with ASD.

Open Label of Clinical Trial of Sulforaphane in Children With Autism

Autism

This is an open-label, 4-month study examining the effects of Sulforaphane (SF) on behavior in children with ASD and the correlation between behavior change and urinary metabolites. The goal is to determine a potential mechanism of action of SF in this population.

Social ABCs for Toddlers With Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder: Trial of a Parent-Mediated Intervention...

Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Social ABCs is an innovative parent-mediated intervention for toddlers with confirmed or suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The intervention draws on what is known about core, early emerging impairments in ASD, and on evidence-based Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and associated parent training programs for enhancing development in children with ASD. Completion of a comprehensive pilot study set the stage for a randomized control trial (RCT) of the Social ABCs. The purpose of this RCT is to evaluate the efficacy of the Social ABCs intervention program on improving spoken language skills and positive parent-child emotion sharing in toddlers with signs of or a diagnosis of ASD.

Efficacy Study of Vayarin in Children With Autism and Comorbid Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder...

Autism Spectrum DisorderAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

This research study is carried out to examine the effects of Phosphatidylserine-Omega 3 supplements (i.e., Vayarin) among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. Participants will be randomised either to receive the Vayarin treatment (Intervention group) or to a Control group.

Exposure Therapy for Auditory Sensitivity in Autism

Sensory DisordersAutism4 more

Auditory hyper-reactivity affects up to 66% of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and has been linked to greater stress and anxiety for children and their families. Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP) is highly effective for reducing obsessive/compulsive behaviors in children with both OCD and ASD. This study is the first to assess the feasibility and efficacy of E/RP for auditory sensory hyper-reactivity in ASD.
