Testing the Effectiveness of The Welcome Basket Intervention
PsychosisThe investigators propose to examine the effectiveness of a brief intervention that might better facilitate the transition into the community for people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder with psychotic features. The intervention is called the Welcome Basket. It involves Peer Support Workers connecting with and supporting hospitalized individuals in the days before discharge and again in the community in the first month immediately following discharge. The investigators will compare the outcomes of discharge from hospital as usual with the full version of the welcome basket and a preliminary test of an abbreviated 2 visit version of the intervention.
Psychosocial Intervention Designed to Familial Reintegration of Homeless With Mental Disorder in...
Mental DisordersThe aim of this project is to describe the mental health status of the homeless people in Maputo and Matola utilising standardised clinical and socio-demographic assessments. Simultaneously; the study aims to determine the influence of a psychosocial intervention in patients with apparent signs of mental illness, aiming at his/her family reintegration; This study is conducted hypothesizing that the familial reintegration after intervention would be the same across patients with different mental disorders.
Low Pulse Amplitude Seizure Therapy (LAP-ST Study)
Mood DisordersSchizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic DisordersThis study assesses the feasibility of a full course of Low Pulse Amplitude-Seizure Therapy (LAP-ST) (primary outcome).
Metabolic and Neurofunctional Responses to Breakfasts
Feeding BehaviorsLack of Satiety1 moreThis study aims at assessing the effects of glucose and different types of breakfast on metabolic and neurofunctional responses in healthy individuals. Twelve healthy subjects, on a stable diet, in a randomized-crossover fashion, received either a 50 g glucose load (control) or one of these breakfast: B1: milk (125ml) and cereals (30g); B2: milk (220ml), apple (200g) and cream chocolate filled sponge cake (30g); B3: milk (125ml), bread (50g), apple (150g) and hazelnut cream chocolate (15g). Prior and upon completion of each tolerance test, an EEG was performed to measure frontal P300-evoked potentials.
Assessment of Intra-subject Variability in the Bioavailability of Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride
Anti-PsychoticManagement of Manifestations of Psychotic Disorders7 moreCycle Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Cycle) is developing an oral tablet formulation of Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride and intends to conduct bioequivalence trials to demonstrate its similarity to the RLD. The aim of this pilot study is to investigate intrasubject variability in the bioavailability of Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride 25 mg sugar coated tablets. Cycle aims to demonstrate that Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride has a shallow dose response curve and a wide safety margin. This will then allow for the modification of bioequivalence acceptance criteria in future pivotal studies which will reduce the number of participants required whilst still maintaining assurance of safety and efficacy. Pilot Subjects (n): 20 Periods: 2 (2xR) Dosing: Single-dose Strength: 25 mg Test Product: N/A Reference: USL PHARMA Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride Analytes (in plasma): Chlorpromazine; 7-Hydroxychlorpromazine Bioequivalence based on 90% CI (Cmax, AUC): Standard; 80.00 - 125.00%

Effects of Web-Based Training on HbA1c, Quality of Life and Depression Levels in Adolescents With...
Mental Disorder in AdolescenceBehavioral Symptoms1 moreObjective: This study was conducted to determine the effect of diabetes training on HbA1c, levels of depression and quality of life of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus adolescents by using the Web-Based Watson Human Care Model. Methods: The study was conducted with 30 adolescents between 11-18 years old who was followed by Child Endocrinology Department and who accepted to participate in the research. A web page was developed by considering Training Guide for Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes and processes of Watson Human Care Theory. Live video interviews were done with adolescents in the experiment group on 14 sessions and these interviews were recorded.
Feasibility of Mobile and Technology Assisted Aftercare Services for Crisis Stabilization Units...
Substance AbuseCriminal Behavior1 moreIn this study investigators are examining the feasibility and acceptability of an expanded and technology-assisted aftercare program with persons released from a crisis stabilization unit (CSU) who were brought to the CSU by choice of law enforcement. Investigators are assessing the critical elements of CSUs, examining the feasibility and acceptability of pairing mobile and technology-assisted aftercare to improve treatment access and retention; and developing a study protocol to be used in a future multisite randomized controlled trial (RCT). Crisis stabilization units provide law enforcement officers an alternative to jail for individuals experiencing a substance use or mental health disorder crisis contributing to criminalized behavior. This study is designed to assist with the diversion of individuals toward treatment and away from subsequent contact with law enforcement through piloting mobile and technology assisted aftercare services to persons released from a CSU. One of the largest barriers to the effectiveness of CSUs is retaining the individual in treatment after discharge. Logistical factors including transportation, stable housing, and long waitlists for community-based treatment decrease treatment access. These factors may also be complicated by an individual's understanding of the importance of remaining in treatment as well as their motivation to continue. To overcome these barriers and enhance the impact of CSUs, investigators are developing an expanded model which includes mobile and technology-assisted modalities that address psychological, behavioral, and medication-assisted treatment.
Feasibility Study of a Diary for Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Patients and...
Hematopoietic/Lymphoid CancerPsychological DisorderAllogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is a specific time during hematological disease management for the patients, theirs relatives and the healthcare team. This heavy treatment is most of the time the last possible curative therapy and could cause many side effects such as infectious diseases and graft versus host reaction. The protective isolation is also a source of physical and psychological isolation. Published studies reported depressive syndrome, anxiety symptoms and post-traumatic stress disorders for patients and their families. Since 10 years ago, diaries are used in intensive care unit to limit these symptoms after a coma. In analogy, the diary for the patients with allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation could be a mean to reduce the psychological adverse impact and long terms consequences. The investigators want to evaluate the psychological impact of a diary on the patients hospitalized for allogenic hematopoetic stem cell transplantation and on their relatives.
