Parenteral Nutrition in Patients With Biliopancreatic Mass Lesions

Weight LossPancreatic Cancer1 more

Patients with biliopancreatic tumors are at risk for malnutrition and have to undergo many procedures for diagnostic workup that require fasting periods. In a prospective randomized monocentric study we evaluate the effect of additional parenteral nutrition on weight loss, nutritional status, quality of life and length of hospital stay.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine and gemcitabine, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Palliative chemotherapy may improve the quality of life in patients who have locally advanced or metastatic biliary tract cancer and may help them live more comfortably. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of adjuvant capecitabine and gemcitabine in improving quality of life in patients who have locally advanced or metastatic biliary tract cancer.

PACE-Mobil-PBL is a prospective randomized controlled trial. The aim is to investigate the effect of a multimodal and exercise-based intervention among older patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, biliary tract cancer, or lung cancer during treatment with first-line palliative chemotherapy, immunotherapy or targeted therapy. The hypotheses: That the multimodal intervention will increase or maintain physical function levels and strength, reduce symptoms and side-effects, improve quality of life, reduce treatment-related complications and hospital admissions, and reduce risk of cancer cachexia and sarcopenia.

Pancreatic CancerPancreatic Adenocarcinoma5 more

This Endoscopic Ultrasound guided Biliary Drainage (EUS-BD) vs. Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP-TP) trial (BILPAL) is a randomized controlled multicenter trial that will provide evidence whether or not traditional ERCP biliary drainage is to be performed in patients with obstruction in bile duct due to unresectable pancreatic head or periampullary tumor.
