Evaluating Dose Regimen of Intravenous Unfractionated Heparin and Low Molecular Weight Heparin in...

COVID-19Deep Vein Thrombosis2 more

To see whether our increased dosing regimen of unfractionated heparin (UF) and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in COVID-19 patients was effective at preventing thrombo-embolic complications. We did regular anti-Xa tests to optimise the dose of our thromboprophylaxis. Furthermore, we want to examine the time it takes to reach adequate anti-Xa levels, to determine additional risk factors and do a subgroup analysis. Lastly, we will study if there are possible complications of our thromboprophylactic therapy.

Impact of Balanced Crystalloid and Colloid Infusion on Haemostasis in Healthy Male Volunteers

Perioperative HemorrhageDilutional Coagulopathy

The project focuses on perioperative bleeding that requires transfusion of blood products and supplementation of intravascular volume with crystalloids and colloids. The implemented fluid therapy affects coagulation and fibrinolysis, depending on the type of fluid used in an intravenous infusion. Massive haemorrhage significantly impacts the perioperative period and postoperative quality of life and requires individualized therapy, rending the ongoing project relevant from the perspective of the patients.

Study Comparing Modified Lee White Clotting Time Against Twenty Minute Whole Blood Clotting Test...

Coagulation DefectSnake Bites

20 minute Whole Blood Clotting Test(20'WBCT) recommended by World Health Organisation guidelines is probably the most routinely employed bed side screening tool in the country. The Modified Lee and White (MLW) method gives a value which when performed serially gives a trend in clotting time which the investigators hypothesise to be a better tool in serially assessing the victim compared to the 20'WBCT. The investigators propose that delayed reading of both MLW and 20'WBCT to check for clot stability at 30 minutes also provides added information in management of snake bite victims.

Motor Proficiency of People With Bleeding Disorders Using the BOT-2 (TM)

Hemophilia

The purpose of this study is to find out if gross motor skills of children and young adults with bleeding disorders are different from those without bleeding disorders. The investigators will use the standardized motor test the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Second Edition (BOT-2 tm). The second purpose is to establish if history of joint disease secondary to bleeding affects gross motor skills. Participants and setting: Subjects will include up to 100 male youth and young adults, ages 4 to 21, recruited from the patient population of the Hemophilia Treatment Center at OHSU. A mailing that describes the study may be sent to all potential subjects who receive care through the Hemophilia Treatment Center at OHSU. Data collection will occur at either clinic visits or in the home. Information, including history of change in joint structure and synovium, from existing bleeding disorder repositories at OHSU will also be used. Design and Procedures: Research will be done using a prospective, cross-sectional study design to examine any relationship between a diagnosis of bleeding disorder and gross motor development. The gross motor ability of children and young adults with bleeding disorders who meet the inclusion criteria will be compared to sex-specific normative data from a standardized motor test. Information about age, type of hemophilia, presence of an inhibitor, type of management used, body composition, range of motion, and hand strength will also be collected through direct measurement and chart review. The information collected will be entered into a repository. A subject may choose to opt out of the repository while still participating in the research study. In addition, information from a current hemophilia repository will be compared to gross motor ability scores to determine if joint disease is related to skill level in this group of people. Proposed analyses: Two-tailed t tests and logistic regression will be used to determine if there are any significant differences.

Point-of-Care Testing in Coagulopathic Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery - a Multicenter Study...

Coagulopathy During Cardiac Surgery

Recently, the investigators study group showed in a mono center study that Point of Care (POC) based hemotherapy may reduce transfusion rates of allogenic blood products in perioperative care of coagulopathic cardiac surgery patients. The investigators aim to verify the obtained results by conducting this multicenter study.

Safety and Efficacy of Turoctocog Alfa During Long-Term Treatment of Severe and Moderately Severe...

Congenital Bleeding DisorderHaemophilia A

This study is conducted in Europe, and North and South America. The aim of this study is to provide additional documentation of the immunogenicity, and obtain additional clinical data, of turoctocog alfa in the setting of normal clinical practise in patients previously treated with a factor VIII agent (FVIII).

Observational Registry of the Treatment of Glanzmann's Thrombasthenia

Congenital Bleeding DisorderGlanzmann's Disease

This observational registry is conducted in Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States of America (USA). The purpose of the registry is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of activated recombinant human factor VII (rFVIIa) during bleeding episodes and for the prevention of bleeding during invasive procedures/surgery in patients with Glanzmann's thrombasthenia (GT) with past or present refractoriness to platelet transfusions. Attention will be directed towards complications related to thrombo-embolic events and concomitant medications especially antifibrinolytics.

Input of a Multidisciplinary Device to Accompany the Announce of Diagnosis for Young Children With...

Severe Forms of HemophiliaOther Constitutional Bleeding Disorders

Severe forms of hemophilia and other constitutional bleeding disorders represent a group of rare diseases. In last decades, news therapies have dramatically increased life expectancy and joint's protection. The investigators propose to set up a single-centre, descriptive, transversal pilot study, designed for the inclusion of around thirty children from 2 to 10 years, with haemophilia or allied hereditary bleeding disorders (HBD), who were referred to the Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) of Marseille at diagnosis. For those children who were able to benefit from the totality or part of the device accompanying the diagnostic announcement in the past 10 years.

To Compare TEG (Thrombelastography) and Conventional Tests in CKD Patients

End Stage Renal DiseaseCoagulopathy

Background: Coagulopathy in chronic kidney disease is multifactorial. Both hypocoagulopathy and hypercoaguability are seen. Conventional tests of coagulation (CCTs) end at the formation of thrombin, and do not take into account the interaction of coagulation factors, platelets, RBC etc. By overcoming the above deficiencies, thromboelastography provides a holistic picture of blood coagulation. The present study evaluated the TEG profile of ESRD patients and compared it to CCTs and to controls. Methods: 50 ESRD patients and 50 controls were recruited for the study. Venous samples were withdrawn and platelet count, INR and fibrinogen levels were measured. Simultaneously a Thromboelastography was performed. All samples were drawn prior to initiation of dialysis.
