Comparing Synthetic Bone Alone Versus Synthetic Bone With Bone Marrow in Bone Lesions
Bone DiseasesThis is a prospective randomized study comparing Vitoss alone versus Vitoss with bone marrow aspirate in benign bone lesions.
Calcium Balance Studies in Children With CKD and on Dialysis
Chronic Kidney Disease Mineral and Bone DisorderThis is a novel, non-invasive method of assessing Ca balance by natural Ca isotope fractionation.
Ninth Dorsal Osteopathic Visceral Manipulation D9
OsteopathiaManipulationThe aims of this study is to verify that the vertebral manipulation of dorsal level D9 influences the pancreas biochemical and endocrinology blood values.
Spinal Infection Management With Structural Allograft
Bone DiseasesInfectious6 moreBackground. Bone infections can involve the vertebral column, intervertebral disc space, spinal canal and soft tissues, can generate neurological deficit in addition to the destruction of the bone that causes functional disability. Vertebral osteomyelitis is the most frequent, affecting 2 to 7 patients per 100,000 habitants. Management is bone debridement and bone reconstruction. Objective. Demonstrate that the use of bone allograft is a functional method to stabilize the spine after a bone spinal infection Material and methods. Patients with vertebral bone destruction are included in two groups. Bone allograft group will receive bone structural allograft; Auto and allograft group will receive bone structural allograft plus autograft. The bone reconstruction will be performed in a one-time surgical procedure. Bone consolidation, pain, functionality, and spine deformity will be evaluated.
Safety and Efficacy Trial With Zoledronic Acid for the Treatment of Paget's Disease of Bone, Including...
Paget's Disease of BoneThe primary objective of this core study was to show non-inferiority of zoledronic acid to risedronate, with respect to the proportion of patients who achieved therapeutic response. The extended observation period included participants of the core study who responded to treatment.
Prolonged Protection From Bone Disease in Multiple Myeloma
Multiple MyelomaMain hypothesis: Patients who continue zoledronic acid after year 2 have longer time until progression in bone disease compared to patients who stop treatment after two years? Secondary hypothesis: Serum will bone markers increase prior to progression in bone disease in the individual patient? Secondary hypothesis: Low-dose CT will detect more cases of osteolytic bone disease in Multiple Myeloma compared to conventional radiography
Regenerative Potential of a Collagen Membrane Associated or Not to Bovine Bone in Class II Furcation...
Periodontal DiseasesBone DiseasesPeriodontal disease is an infectious-inflammatory disease that accommodates the supporting and supporting tissues of the teeth, with the formation of periodontal pockets, and this destruction can generate anatomical defects in the region of bifurcation. Treatment of these lesions is a challenge for the clinician, as this area has limited access to bacterial biofilm and calculus. The surgical regenerative therapy using bone grafts and membrane may be a viable option in cases of class II furcation defects. In this context, the objective of this case series is to evaluate tomographically and clinically the treatment of class II furcation defects using an absorbable collagen membrane (Bio-Gide® Perio) associated or not with inorganic bovine bone associated with collagen matrix (Bio-Oss® Collagen).
Parallel Study Between BMP-2 and Autologous Bone Graft After Ilizarow Treatment
Bone Degenerative ChangesOsteoarthritis1 moreResults of growth factors indicate that Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMP) have an exceptional ability to stimulate different characteristics of mesenchymale cells to osseous cells. Local application of BMP results in an increase of osseous tissue regardless of the location of the growth factor. 5 years clinical studies show that BMP's can stimulate an increase of osseous tissue and improve clinical results when autologous bone graft is reduced or removed. The purpose of this study is to examine whether recombinant growth factor BMP-2 can replace autologous bone graft in order to stimulating ossification during transplantation of osseous tissue.
Denosumab in Metabolic Bone Disease in Chronic Intestinal Failure Patients
Metabolic Bone DiseaseLow bone mineral density (BMD) is commonly reported in patients receiving home parenteral nutrition (HPN). Denosumab represent a new drug, which helped to prevent osteoclast. The aim of the study was to assess its value in chronic intestinal failure patients.
