Lidocaine Infusions for Rib Fractures

Rib Fracture MultipleTrauma Chest2 more

Patients with traumatic rib fractures not receiving regional anesthesia through a epidural or nerve block catheter will be recruited for the study. Once enrolled, they will be randomized to receive either intravenous lidocaine or intravenous saline for control of pain related to their rib fractures. In addition, they will receive other pain medications, such as acetaminophen, gabapentin, and opioid pain medications. Our primary outcome is a decrease in their opioid medication requirements.

A Study Examining The Effect Of Wrist Joint Haematoma Washout As An Adjunct Procedure To Plating...

Radius Fracture Distal

Intra-articular fractures of the distal radius are common in urban populations and result in significant morbidity in terms of time away from work. Volar plating of the distal radius is a commonly used mode of surgical fixation of this fracture. The joint haematoma resulting from the fracture has been hypothesized to contribute to the post-injury disability. As such, this study aims to examine if the evacuation of the haematoma during volar plating results in superior functional outcomes at three months post surgery.

Long Term Follow up in Pediatric Supracondylar Humeral Fracture

Supracondylar Humerus FractureElbow Fracture

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about long term outcomes in Supracondylar Humeral Fracture in children after surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are: how good is the elbow function what are the post-operative complication what is the time before return to sport what is the aesthetic prejudice of the scar for the patient Participants will answer questionnaries and send photographs of their elbows to the examinator

Optimal Index for Pediatric Distal Forearm Fractures

Pediatric Distal Forearm Fractures

This is a prospective radiographic study of displaced distal forearm fractures requiring manipulation for children 3-12 years of age and will be treated with casting. The patients' full radiographic series (including the pre-manipulation, immediate post-manipulation, after 1 week and after 4 weeks radiographs) will be evaluated.

New Method for Distal Interlocking of Cannulated Intramedullary Nails

Fracture

We intend to include10 patients in this study and trial. Prior to treatment they will sign an informed consent form, stating that they are acquainted with the surgical procedure and study, and that they consent to participate in the study. Five patients will undergo regular operation with Universal tibial reamed nail (AO-Synthes) using the fluoroscopy device: OEC 9800 (GENERAL ELECTRIC). five patients will undergo the same operation using the new navigation system:"The Guiding star" method. The allocation will be random.

Pain as Indication for Operative Treatment of Traumatic Rib Fractures

TraumaRib Fractures2 more

The purpose of this prospective randomized controlled study is to determine whether acute and chronic pain in patients who suffer multiple traumatic rib fractures is decreased after surgical management as compared to conservative management.

Reliability of 6-Minutes Walking Test in Hip Fracture Patients

Hip Fracture

The purpose of this study is to examine the relative (ICC) and absolute intertester reliability of the 6-Minutes Walking Test in hip fracture patients (N=50) in an outpatient facility. The data collection is conducted by two physiotherapists, who are blinded to each other. The physiotherapists are randomized so they each are doing an equal number of baseline tests.

Femoral Nerve Block vs Peri-capsular Nerve Group Block for Hip Fracture Analgesia

Spinal AnesthesiaAnalgesia1 more

The purpose of the study is to compare the analgesic efficacy of femoral nerve block and peri-capsular nerve group block administered before spinal anesthesia for positioning to spinal anaesthesia in patients undergoing surgery for hip fracture and to evaluate the efficacy for postoperative analgesia

Bone Microcirculation After Remote Ischemic Preconditioning

Intact Scaphoid BoneIntact Metacarpal Bone2 more

In trauma surgery and hand surgery treatment strategies of none healing bone fractures aim at replacing pseudarthrosis by well vascularized bone and improving microcirculation. Although previous studies indicate that remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) can accelerate bone healing in case of non-union, only a few studies focused on the elucidation of its mechanisms of action. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the microcirculatory effects of remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) on scaphoid bones and metacarpal bones and metatarsal bones in a human in-vivo setting for the first time.
