Influencing Factors and Their Approach of Kinesiophobia in Patients With Traumatic Fractures

Traumatic Fracture

This study aims to investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia and pain catastrophizing, as well as the relationship between pain catastrophizing and pain level, anxiety and depression, self-efficacy and psychological resilience in patients with traumatic fractures, and to explain the approach and effect relationship between kinesiophobia and these variables.

PMCF Study on the Safety, Performance and Clinical Benefits Data of the Zimmer® Reconstruction System...

Acetabulum FracturePelvic Ring Fracture

The study is a monocentric, retrospective, non-randomized, non-controlled and consecutive series post-market study. The purpose of this study is to confirm safety, performance and clinical benefits of the Reconstruction System (implants and instrumentation) when used for temporary internal fixation and stabilization of fractures during the normal healing process. The primary objective is the assessment of performance by analyzing fracture healing. The secondary objectives are the assessment of safety by recording and analyzing the incidence and frequency of complications and adverse events. Relation of the events to implant, instrumentation and/or procedure should be specified. Subjects' outcomes will also be assessed.

INTERCOSTAL NERVE BLOCK: Efficacy of CINB for Patients With Multiple Rib Fractures

Rib Fractures

This is a prospective, randomized, non-blinded study comparing CINB plus medical therapy versus standard medical care (non-steroidals and opioids intravenous/oral inpatient and oral outpatient) alone for patients with multiple rib fractures. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of continuous intercostal nerve block (CINB) in the treatment of patients admitted to the adult trauma service with rib fractures. The effectiveness of CINB as adjunctive treatment will be compared to standard medical therapy involving nonsteroidal and intravenous/oral opioid medications.

Skeletal Effects of Type 1 Diabetes on Low-Trauma Fracture Risk

Type 1 DiabetesOsteopenia3 more

Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) have a higher risk of low-trauma (osteoporotic) fracture that is 7-12 times higher than non-diabetics. The bone density of people with Type 1 Diabetes is higher at the time of fracture than in non-diabetics. This suggests the presence of underlying bone tissue mechanical defects. The potential benefits to participants would be knowledge gained about their bone density and the results of laboratory tests. On a wider scale, there may be general benefits to society because the knowledge gained from this study may help better understand the effects of diabetes on bone health

Predicting Outcomes of Distal Radius Fractures: a Surgeon Survey

Distal Radius FracturesSurvey1 more

The goal of this surgeon survey is to find out if orthopedic and trauma surgeons can predict outcomes in older adults with distal radius fractures. The main questions it aims to answer are: Can orthopedic and trauma surgeons effectively predict which treatment would benefit a patient the most in terms of good outcome versus poor outcome (based on Δ PRWE) following casting or surgical treatment for displaced intra-articular distal radius fractures? What are the perspectives of trauma surgeons and orthopedic surgeons on current literature? What factors direct trauma surgeons and orthopedic surgeons to surgery?

Rib Fixation for Clinically Severe Rib Fractures From Trauma

Rib FractureFlail Chest

This is a multicenter randomized study investigating the differences in clinical outcomes of patients between two standard of care pathways for rib trauma: patients who receive rib fixation versus patients who receive modern critical care and pain control after sustaining clinically significant rib fractures from trauma.

VITamin D and OmegA-3 TriaL (VITAL): Fractures, Vitamin D and Genetic Markers

Fractures

The VITamin D and OmegA-3 TriaL (VITAL; NCT 01169259) is a randomized clinical trial in 25,871 U.S. men and women investigating whether taking daily dietary supplements of vitamin D3 (2000 IU) or omega-3 fatty acids (Omacor® fish oil, 1 gram) reduces the risk of developing cancer, heart disease, and stroke in people who do not have a prior history of these illnesses. This ancillary study is being conducted among participants in VITAL and will examine (1) whether vitamin D reduces incident total, non-vertebral fractures, and hip fractures and (2) whether this reduction is modified by vitamin D levels

Fracture Recovery for Returning to Duty (Teriparatide STRONG)

Stress FractureFracture Healing1 more

FORTEO (teriparatide [rDNA origin]; Eli-Lilly, Indiana, USA) is an injectable synthetic recombinant human parathyroid hormone analog that is commonly used to treat people with osteoporosis. In the current investigation this drug will be tested to evaluate its efficacy to accelerate bone healing and decrease the convalescence time of US Army Basic Trainees who have sustained a diaphyseal tibial stress fracture (DTSF). Investigators from the University of South Carolina will collaborate with military personnel to perform a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study at Fort Jackson, SC.
