Rehabilitation Strategies to Improve Outcomes For Patients With a Lower Extremity Fracture
Femoral FractureTibial FracturesThe purpose of this study is to evaluate speed high intensity interval training (HIIT) walking program following an orthopedic trauma.
Non-operative Treatment of Pediatric Lateral Humeral Condyle Fractures
Fracture HumerusPhyseal FractureThe diagnosis of LHCF is complicated by radiographic inability to show the full extent of the injury into the chondral (unossified) epiphysis. MRI gives a perfect view of these fractures. The safety and feasibility of non-operative treatment based on MRI findings in children with elbow fractures has not been investigated in a Danish setting. If safe and feasible, the use of MRI could dramatically lower the need for surgery in children with LHCF.
Ultrasound- Guided Continuous Retro Laminar Block Versus Continuous Erector Spinae Plane Block in...
Retrolaminar BlockErector Spinae Plane Block3 moreThe aim of this study is to compare the incentive spirometry volume and analgesic efficacy of ultrasound guided continuous Retrolaminar block and continuous Erector spinae plain block in patients with multiple rib fractures.
Comparison Between Anterior Approach (Deltopectoral) and Lateral Approach (Deltoid Splitting) in...
Humeral FractureAged Patient2 moreThe aim of the study consists in comparing two surgical approaches (deltopectoral versus lateral deltoid splitting) in the treatment of proximal humerus fractures treated with a reversed total shoulder arthroplasty The assessment will focus on clinical (clinical scores, efficacy, safety…) and radiological results, between these two types of surgical approaches by using a prospective, randomized analysis.
Hip Fracture Exparel Administration Trial Capsule During Hemiarthroplasty
Intracapsular Fracture of FemurFemoral Neck Fractures1 moreThis study will examine the efficacy of Liposomal Bupivacaine (Exparel) in hip fracture patients undergoing hip hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fractures through a posterior approach. Post-operative measures will be assessing pain, overall opiate use, delirium, time-to-ambulation and discharge status.
Surgery of the Pilon Fractures
Pilon FracturesFractures2 moreThe assessment consists in comparing the osteosynthesis plate with minimally invasive technique versus open reduction and internal fixation. The aim of study is to compare (period of bandage, efficacy, safety), these two types of surgical technique by using a prospective, randomized analysis.
Percutaneous Kyphoplasty Using Rotary Cutter in Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures
Spine FractureKyphoplasty(PKP) is performed under general anaesthesia in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture. The balloon is first placed into the fractured vertebra and inflated with contrast agent for height restoration. Then, the cement is injected into the cavity created by the balloon. As the diffusion of cement can be interfered by closely barriers formed by surrounding cancellous bones, refractures are often found in patients with conventional PKP. Furthermore, the loss of restored height of surgical vertebrae due to refracture in PKP. The investigators will applied a rotary cutter to destroy the structure of the cavity created by the balloon. Finally, the cement is injected, which may effectively interdigitates with the surrounding cancellous bone.
Regional Blocks for Lateral Condyle Fractures
FracturesClosed2 moreThe purpose of this study is to investigate the post-operative pain control in pediatric patients with closed lateral condyle fractures who undergo open reduction and percutaneous pinning. Patients will be randomized into one of two groups. Group 1 will receive an infraclavicular nerve block to the affected extremity by a fellowship trained pediatric anesthesiologist prior to surgery. Group 2 will undergo the Orthopaedic Institute of Children's (OIC) standard preoperative protocol. Post-operative pain management will be the same for both groups per standard protocol. Pain level will be assessed post-operatively using the Wong-Baker FACES scale and parents will be asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding their satisfaction with the surgery and pain control. Parents will also fill out a medication log until the patient no longer requires pain medication. All patients in both groups will receive standard oxycodone solution prescriptions post-operatively as per typical protocol. The duration of participation in the study is approximately 1 week and requires 2 visits (time of recruitment at surgery and 1st post-op visit). This study is being conducted in hopes of developing comprehensive pain management protocols to reduce opioid consumption after surgical fixations of displaced lateral condyle fractures if the study can show that patients are more satisfied and require less opioid medication when receiving preoperative regional anesthesia.
Dual Mobility Cups in Hip Fracture Patients
Femoral Neck FracturesOur aim is to develop a strategy that reduces the risk of dislocations after total hip arthroplasty surgery performed due to femoral neck fracture. We therefore perform a register-nested, pragmatic, randomized controlled trial to investigate the safety and efficacy of dual mobility cups that were designed to minimize the risk of dislocation in the large and fragile group of elderly patients with femoral neck fractures.
Soft Part Management for Surgical Fractures of the Lower Limb
Leg InjuriesFracture1 moreThe assessment consists in comparing corticoids injection versus placebo in surgery of lower limb fractures The aim of study is to assess (state cutaneous, efficacy, safety) corticoids injection on a prospective, randomized analysis
