Immune Response to the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine in Young Women With Inflammatory Bowel Disease...

Inflammatory Bowel DiseaseUterine Cervical Dysplasia

The Gardasil vaccine, a vaccine targeted towards the human papillomavirus (HPV), has been shown to prevent the transmission of several strains of HPV in young women. Women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may not respond as well to this vaccine, either due to having IBD or due to immunosuppressants used to control IBD. This study will test how well women with IBD respond to the Gardasil vaccine.

Adjuvant Vitamin D With Corticosteroids in Active Crohn's Disease

Crohn's Disease

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of vitamin D to standard corticosteroids improves onset of remission in active Crohn's Disease, a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

A Randomized Controlled Trial of VSL#3 for the Prevention of Endoscopic Recurrence Following Surgery...

Crohn's DiseaseInflammatory Bowel Disease

This randomized placebo-controlled double-blind, multi-centre trial will determine the efficacy of the probiotic VSL#3 in the prevention of Crohn's disease development following surgical resection and re-anastomosis. A total of 120 patients will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive VSL#3 or placebo for 90 days. Patients who respond to study treatment, as defined by the absence of a severe endoscopic recurrence at day 90, will be offered open-label VSL#3 for an additional 9 months.

IBD Neoplasia Surveillance Pilot RCT

Inflammatory Bowel DiseasesColonic Neoplasms1 more

To determine if random biopsies can be safely eliminated from screening of average risk persons with IBD, the investigators propose to carry out a pilot randomized control trial in which targeted biopsies in combination with random biopsies will be compared to targeted biopsies alone in terms of pre-cancerous lesion capture rate, side-effects and CRC risk. The pilot study will aim to capture 20% of the overall study population in order to evaluate the feasibility of recruiting the needed number of participants in the specified time frame, while maintaining high quality of data collection.

Genomic Resources for Enhancing Available Therapies (GREAT1.0) Study

Chronic PancreatitisInflammatory Bowel Diseases25 more

This is a prospective, descriptive, observational research study designed to observe and document the clinical practice by domain experts, and how the knowledge of new findings that are published in the medical literature affect clinical decision making. The study will evaluate risk factors and co-variants, including genetic variants that are associated with disease progression such as pain, inflammation, organ dysfunction, disability and quality of life.

Methotrexate Polyglutamate Measurements in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

IBD

There are currently no serum levels to help guide appropriate methotrexate therapy. Data from this study will assess the correlation between dosing and whole blood methotrexate(MTX) polyglutamate measurements in children and adolescents with IBD.

Effect of Real-world Tight Control Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Inflammatory bowel disease, which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is a condition that causes inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. The disease goes through periods of remission and flare. Biomarkers such as fecal calprotectin have been proposed as a tool to monitor disease activity. Fecal calprotectin is a test that measures the amount of inflammation in the stool. Monitoring fecal calprotectin levels can assist gastroenterologists in making decisions regarding patients' IBD treatment such as whether to increase the dose of medications. A recent study showed that frequent measurement of fecal calprotectin every 3 months, also called the tight-control strategy, was associated with improved clinical outcomes in IBD patients. The purpose of this study is to assess whether the tight-control monitoring strategy, which includes fecal calprotectin monitoring every 3 months, improves clinical outcomes in IBD when performed in the real world compared to routine clinical practice.
