Atropine Versus no Atropine for Neonatal Rapid Sequence Intubation
BradycardiaHypoxemiaThe purpose of this study is to compare heart rate in infants who receive atropine as a part of their medication before intubation to those who do not. To be able to find out , we need to divided babies into 2 groups; group 1 : receives atropine + sedation + muscle relaxant group 2 : receives water or saline ( placebo group) + sedation + muscle relaxant Then we need to compare heart rate during intubation and duration of intubation between the 2 groups.
Identification of Arrhythmias With One-time ECG
Atrial FibrillationHeart Rate Fast1 moreIn Western countries, every sixth person in their lifetime and 15,000 people in Finland have a new stroke each year. About every fourth stroke is based on cardiac embolism. Atrial fibrillation causes formation of thrombi in the left atrium with ensuing embolization in the cerebral and peripheral circulation. This study investigates the suitability of measurement techniques and new calculation methods used in sport/wellness technology for the screening and diagnosis of atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. New measurement technologies, the one-time ECG measurement and pulse wristband measurement, are studied for their characteristics, data quality and rhythm recognition. Identifying latent arrhythmias with new self-monitoring technologies can significantly reduce the number of strokes (the latent arrhythmias causes about 25% of strokes). The research will be accomplished in cooperation with the Kuopio University Hospital Emergency Department, the Heart Center, the Department of Applied Physics of the University of Eastern Finland and Heart2Save Ltd. The results of the research project will be published in the scientific journals of medicine and medical technology and will be presented at scientific conferences of the respective fields. The research results of the project can be utilized by all companies in the medical technology industry, in particular companies that produce ECG measuring instruments and companies that produce rhythm recognition software.
Gastroesophageal Reflux and Cardiorespiratory Problems
Gastroesophageal Reflux DiseaseApnea Infants2 moreCardiorespiratory and gastroesophageal reflux events often coexist in infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) thus leading to drugs over-prescription and delayed discharge. Through cardiorespiratory and pH-impedance monitoring this study aims to evaluate the temporal association between gastroesophageal reflux (GER) and cardiorespiratory (CR) events in a large number of infants with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and CR symptoms and, whether this association is significant, to clarify the impact of GER on CR events.
Conduction Abnormalities With Severe Aortic Stenosis Before and After Transcatheter Aortic Valve...
BradycardiaMost of the conduction abnormalities with TAVR are usually detected during the procedure or during the following days of observation. Little is known about the prevalence and timing of any conduction abnormalities that exist before (other than standard ECG) or after through long term cardiac monitoring.

Analysis of the Acceptance and Changes to Parameters Programming Suggested by the TherapyGuide Function...
BradyarrhythmiaThe technological progress allowed the development of more and more sophisticated pacemakers, widening the therapeutic indications but also meeting the physiological needs of the patient. This progress led to a more and more complex programming for the physicians. To help them set optimally the pacing parameters, physicians refer to the existing recommendations of learned societies as well as to his expertise. Manufacturers developed also algorithms integrated into pacemakers with the aim of assisting physicians in their programming. TherapyGuide is a function which proposes a programming adapted to the psychopathological state of the patient, with a justification based on experts' consensus, clinical studies as well as on published articles. Physicians have the choice to accept or reject the programming proposed by TherapyGuide. When rejected, there is no means to analyze the modifications brought to the proposed set of parameters. The nature, the frequency and the reasons of these modifications are not thus known. The purpose of this study is to assess the acceptance of the TherapyGuide proposals by physicians and to identify the most frequent type of programming changes they make and their rationale.
Clinical Outcome of Pacemaker paTIents According to Pacing Modality and Primary INDications
BradyarrhythmiaThe study objective is to collect mid-term clinical outcome in a group of patients implanted with permanent pacemaker (PM) according to real-life clinical practice in a multicenter and international environment.
