WBRT & Erlotinib in Advanced NSCLC and Brain Metastases

Lung CancerMetastatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Erlotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Erlotinib may also make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. It is not yet known whether giving whole-brain radiation therapy together with erlotinib is more effective than whole-brain radiation therapy alone in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer and brain metastases. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying whole-brain radiation therapy and erlotinib to see how well they work compared with whole-brain radiation therapy alone in treating patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and brain metastases.

Pilot Study of 18F-FLT PET

CNS Brain MetastasisHead and Neck Cancer3 more

Fractionated radiotherapy induces an observable change in the proliferative activity as assessed by pre-treatment and early-treatment 18F-FLT PET imaging. This study is designed to investigate 18F-FLT as a PET imaging agent for predicting treatment effectiveness in several tumors and will serve as a pilot study to a planned PO1 submission

Nuclear Imaging of Human CSF Flow Using Ga-67 Citrate and In-111 DTPA

Central Nervous System TumorsBrain Tumors

Primary Objective will be to evaluate the use of Ga-67 citrate as an alternative radiopharmaceutical for CSF imaging. Secondary Objective will be to evaluate the biodistribution, pharmacokinetics and radiation dosimetry of In 111 DTPA and gallium-67 after intrathecal injection during remission of leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) and during LM occurrence, remission and recurrence.

ZK219477 (Sagopilone) in Patients With Breast Cancer and Brain Metastases

Breast CancerCNS Disease

The purpose of this research study is to determine the effects (good and bad) of ZK219477(sagopilone) on participants and their cancer. ZK219477 is a chemotherapy drug that is thought to work by interfering with the ability of cancer cells to grow and divide. It is a part of a group of drugs called "epothilones" which appear to cause shrinkage of cancer in some patients with breast cancer. It is generally difficult for chemotherapy to enter the brain. However, it is believed that ZK219477 crosses into the brain. We are also studying whether an investigational MRI scan procedure may eventually help to predict which patients will benefit from ZK219477.

Radiation Therapy and Stereotactic Radiosurgery With or Without Temozolomide or Erlotinib in Treating...

Metastatic Malignant Neoplasm in the BrainRecurrent Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma1 more

This randomized phase III trial is studying whole-brain radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery with or without temozolomide or erlotinib to see how well they work compared to whole-brain radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery in treating patients with brain metastases secondary to non-small cell lung cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Stereotactic radiosurgery may be able to deliver x-rays directly to the tumor and cause less damage to normal tissue. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Erlotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery are more effective with or without temozolomide or erlotinib in treating brain metastases.

Study of Intraoperative Radiotherapy for Patients With Large Brain Metastases Treated With Neurosurgical...

Brain Metastases

The primary purpose of this study is to establish a maximum tolerated dose (MTD) through a dose-escalation trial using intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) following neurosurgical resection for large brain metastases, and to determine the progression-free survival rate as in the recurrence rate of treated brain metastasis.

Optune Device - TT Field Plus Nivolumab and Ipilimumab for Melanoma With Brain Metastasis

Melanoma With Brain Metastasis

This phase II study will evaluate the safety of combining intermediate frequency electric field (TT Field) with immunotherapy in melanoma patients with brain metastasis. The data of this study will also inform whether this combination will offer advantage in progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival.
