Phenotype and Prognosis of Patients With Breast Cancer and Pathogenic Variants of TP53

Breast CancerTP53 R337H2 more

A prospective and retrospective cohort study of patients with a documented pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants of TP53 were identified using blood DNA colection and breast cancer diagnosis by histological confirmation, between 1999 and 2022. All patients were followed by the Hereditary Group of a single cancer center (Instituto do Cancer do Estado de Sao Paulo). Patients were included if they had a histopathological diagnosis of localized invasive carcinoma or in situ carcinoma of the breast and with localized disease. Patients met Revised Chompret criteria, Li Fraumeni like syndrome, family member of carrier TP53 or hereditary breast and ovarian syndrome for germline test.

Consequences of Eccentric Cycling on Exercise-related Neuromuscular Responses and Biomarkers in...

Breast Cancer

This is a monocentric, prospective and interventional study aimed to investigating the physiological responses of eccentric compared to concentric cycling realized 1) at the same metabolic demand and 2) at the same mechanical power output. In order to compare the physiological responses between these two cycling modalities, 3 cycling sessions should be performed for each patient where concentric one will serve as reference / comparison to the eccentric one: Session (a): eccentric cycling Session (b): high intensity concentric cycling realized at the same mechanical power output than eccentric cycling Session (c): low intensity concentric cycling realized at the same metabolic demand than eccentric cycling The 3 sessions will be performed for each patient and order will be randomized.

Noninvasive Assessment of Lymphedema Among Breast Cancer Survivors

Lymphedema of Upper ArmBreast Cancer

This proof of concept study will evaluate the ability of a new, ultrasound based technology called Bullseye Constructive Shearwave Interference (CSI) (trade name, Bullseye Elasticity Quantification) to measure lymphedema of the upper arm among breast cancer survivors. The study's hypothesis is that the CSI device can detect the presence of clinically significant lymphedema when compared with the standard arm tape measurement.

Rehabilitation Through Hippotherapy for the Management of Women After Primary Treatment of Breast...

Breast Cancer FemaleSide Effects2 more

Breast cancer is the most common women's cancer and the third leading cause of death. Advances in prevention, detection and primary treatment have improved overall survival leading to its growing acceptance as a long-term disease. Following the announcement of breast cancer, but also after primary treatment, some symptoms appear directly compromising psychic and physical spheres. Hippotherapy is an emerging specialized rehabilitation approach performed through specially trained horses by accredited health professionals. The proposed hippotherapy program offers key elements for physical, psychic and social reinforcement, complementing conventional care. The aim is to provide patients with tools to consolidate their self-awareness and thus strengthen their ability to cope with the disease.

Ketotifen: as a Cardioprotective Agent in Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Anthracycline-containing...

Breast CancerIron Chelation

The objective of our study was to evaluate the expected cardioprotective effects of ketotifen due to its activity as an iron-chelating agent previously uncovered by us in the in vitro chemical test which included in the study, when used in patients receiving anthracyclines for the treatment of breast cancer. The study was a randomized : , prospective controlled trial : , and the patients were identified by coded numbers to maintain privacy. Eligible patients (111) fulfilled the criteria. Control Group: 55 patients received their standard therapy (anthracycline-containing chemotherapy without ketotifen). Ketotifen Group: 56 patients received anthracycline-containing chemotherapy plus ketotifen as a cardioprotective agent. Ketotifen will be given orally as one tablet (1 mg/tablet) 3 times daily, before and during the chemotherapeutic cycle for 6 cycles of treatment. Blood samples were obtained from all patients, and echocardiography two times for each patient at baseline and after 6 months (EF%).

Motivating to Exercise and Diet, and Educating to Healthy Behaviors After Breast Cancer

Overweight or Obese Breast Cancer Patients

The primary objective of MEDEA is to compare the effect of a personalised telephone-based health education weight loss program based on motivational coaching, exercise and diet versus a standard health educational program control on fatigue of overweight or obese BC patients (as measured by the EORTC QLQ C30 (Aaronson et al. 1993; Sprangers et al. 1996))
