Vaccine Therapy and IDO1 Inhibitor INCB024360 in Treating Patients With Epithelial Ovarian, Fallopian...
Recurrent Fallopian Tube CancerRecurrent Ovarian Epithelial Cancer31 moreThis partially randomized phase I/IIb trial studies the side effects vaccine therapy and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO1) inhibitor 4-amino-1,2,5-oxadizaole-3-carboximidamide (INCB024360) and to see how well they work in treating patients with epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer who are in remission. Vaccines made from gene-modified virus may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. IDO1 inhibitor INCB024360 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving vaccine therapy with IDO1 inhibitor INCB024360 may be an effective treatment for epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.
Lavage of the Uterine Cavity for the Diagnosis of Serous Tubal Intraepithelial Carcinoma
Ovarian Epithelial CancerCarcinoma in Situ1 moreThe current study aims at answering the scientific question, whether exfoliated cells from STICs get transported into the uterine cavity via the fallopian tube, and whether it is possible to detect those cells in the lavage fluid from the uterine cavity and proximal fallopian tubes. To address this question, the investigators will study 20 lavage samples and their 20 corresponding STIC-positive tissue samples in women who opt for risk-reducing bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (rrBSO) because of increased risk of high grade serous carcinoma of the pelvis (HGSC) (mostly carrying a BRCA mutation), without a history of tubal occlusion for sterilization. Women who opt to have the fallopian tubes removed but the ovaries preserved are eligible for the study too, as are women who opt for rrBSO plus hysterectomy.
Metformin Hydrochloride, Carboplatin, and Paclitaxel in Treating Patients With Recurrent Ovarian,...
Ovarian Papillary Serous CarcinomaOvarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma4 moreThis phase I trial studies the side effects and best way to give metformin hydrochloride, carboplatin, and paclitaxel in treating patients with recurrent ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as metformin hydrochloride, carboplatin, and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.
N-acetylcysteine Given IV With Cisplatin and Paclitaxel in Patients With Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian CarcinomaStage 3 or 42 moreRATIONAL FOR STUDYING IV NAC AS POTENTIAL CHEMOPROTECTANT: Cisplatin has shown efficacy in the treatment of subjects with epithelial ovarian cancer. Systemic toxicities associated with cisplatin include nephro, oto, and nerve toxicities. It may be possible to reduce the toxicities of cisplatin by administering it in conjunction with IV NAC. NAC may reduce cisplatin related nephro, oto, and nerve toxicities without compromising the effectiveness of the chemotherapy against the ovarian cancer cells. It is possible that this combination of drugs may in the future allow ovarian cancer patients to receive the full series of IP cisplatin-paclitaxel chemotherapy, with fewer side effects and improved survival. It is hypothesized that the proposed treatment of stage III or IV epithelial ovarian cancer with IP cisplatin and IV/IP paclitaxel in conjunction with IV NAC will limit the neurotoxicity, nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity that is associated with cisplatin administration.
Sentinel Node Detection in Clinical Early Stage Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian CancerSentinel NodeAs most cancers, ovarian cancer also spreads to regional lymph nodes. The concept of sentinel lymph node surgery is to see whether the cancer has spread to the very first lymph node or sentinel node (SN). If the sentinel node does not contain cancer, there is a high likelihood that the cancer has not spread to other lymph nodes. This means that, at least theoretically, a radical lymphadenectomy could be omitted and thus the associated morbidity. The sentinel node technique has been proven to be effective in different cancers such as breast cancer and malignant melanoma. In gynaecological tumors it has been shown to be effective in vulvar cancer. Currently sentinel node studies are done for cervix and uterine cancer. The present study determines whether or not a sentinel node procedure in patients with ovarian cancer is feasible when the tracers are injected in the ovarian ligaments.
Lavage of the Uterine Cavity for the Diagnosis of Ovarian and Tubal Carcinoma and Their Premalignant...
Ovarian Epithelial CancerEpithelial Ovarian cancer (EOC) is the leading cause of death among gynaecologic malignancies in western civilized countries, with an estimated prevalence in Europe and the US of 752,600 in 2007 and 59,828 deaths annually. State-of-the-art diagnostic tests for EOC include transvaginal ultrasonography and serum cancer antigen (CA-125) measurements; the specificity of these diagnostic tools however is low, and both tests are not effective enough at detecting EOC early enough to improve clinical outcomes. Definitive diagnosis of EOC still relies on histological or cytological confirmation. These findings underline the importance for an effective test for early detection of EOC. In the current project we will obtain a lavage of the uterine cavity. It will be investigated whether cells from EOCs or genetic material from those cells can be detected in the lavage fluid. Aim of this study: There is a clear clinical need for a diagnosis test to detect EOC at an earlier stage.

EF5 in Finding Oxygen in Tumor Cells of Patients Who Are Undergoing Surgery or Biopsy for Cervical,...
Primary Peritoneal Cavity CancerStage I Endometrial Carcinoma14 moreThis phase II trial is studying how well EF5 works in finding oxygen in tumor cells of patients who are undergoing surgery or biopsy for cervical, endometrial, or ovarian epithelial cancer. Diagnostic procedures using the drug EF5 to find oxygen in tumor cells may help in planning cancer treatment
Niraparib and Selenium for the Treatment of Recurrent BRCA Negative Platinum Resistant Ovarian Cancer...
Platinum-Resistant Fallopian Tube CarcinomaPlatinum-Resistant Ovarian Carcinoma4 moreThis phase I/II trial tests the safety, side effects and best dose of a combination therapy (niraparib and selenium) in treating patients with BRCA negative ovarian cancer that has come back (recurrent) and does not respond to platinum based therapy (platinum resistant). Selenium is a form of the trace element with potential antineoplastic activity which may help block the formation of growths that may become cancer. Niraparib is in a class of medications called poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors. It works by killing cancer cells and helps maintain the response of certain types of ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancers. Giving selenium and niraparib may kill more cells in patients with ovarian cancer.
ZN-c3 for the Treatment of Metastatic Triple-Negative Breast Cancer and Advanced Ovarian Cancer...
Advanced Fallopian Tube CarcinomaAdvanced Ovarian Carcinoma9 moreThis early phase I trial tests the safety and side effects of ZN-c3 in treating patients with triple-negative breast cancer or ovarian cancer that have spread to other parts of the body (metastatic or advanced). ZN-c3 is an enzyme inhibitor that may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
