Swallowing, Speech and Quality of Life of Patients With Carcinoma of the Oropharynx
Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the OropharynxThe curative treatment and organ preservation in advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx is multimodal. It involves induction chemotherapy and depending on the response radio-chemotherapy or surgery. The combination of these methods has important functional consequences. The aim of this prospective pilot study is to describe swallowing, speech, but also patients' quality of life before and after therapeutic management (existing studies measuring these functions after treatment but not before).
24hr Imaging Of HCC After EOVIST
Hepatocellular CarcinomaIn this research study, the investigators are looking to see if MR imaging with Eovist performed 24 hours after the injection of Eovist helps improve the identification and characterization of focal liver tumors.
[18F]-AraG for the Detection of T-Cell Activation in Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Patients...
Advanced Lung Non-Small Cell CarcinomaMetastatic Lung Non-Small Cell Carcinoma7 moreThis trial studies how well [18F]-AraG works in detecting T-cell activation in patients with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other places in the body (advanced), who are undergoing PD-1/PD-L1-directed therapy. [18F]-AraG is a "radiotracer" which attaches to immune cells directed at the cancer and shines a light that can be seen using a special camera, called a "positron emission tomography" or "PET" scanner. [18F]-AraG may improve the ability to detect a response of the cancer in the body to immunotherapy.
NCI UNC Project ESCC
Esophageal Squamous Cell CarcinomaBackground: Esophageal cancer is a common cause of cancer deaths. Most cases of this cancer are esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Many of these cases come from two parts of the world with high-risk. One of these is in East Africa and include the country of Malawi. Researchers want to learn what factors explain the high risk there so we can understand better what causes this cancer in people everywhere. Objective: To learn more about causes and outcomes of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma using Malawi because of the large number of cases in that country. Eligibility: Adults at least 18 years old who have ESCC and live in a certain region of Malawi Adults in the same age group and location who do not have ESCC Design: Participants will be screened at a hospital in Malawi. Participants will have a 1-hour interview. They will answer questions about: Demographics (age, ethnicity, education) Place of residence Medical history and family medical history Drug, alcohol, and tobacco use Hot beverage consumption Indoor air pollution Occupation Food habits Farming Gastrointestinal health Participants will have their teeth and fingernails examined. Participants will be asked to give samples of blood, urine, saliva, toenails, and for the cancer cases, a small piece of their tumor. Participants will have 4 phone calls a year for 2 years to ask about their health....
Ultrasound and Biomarker Tests in Predicting Cancer Aggressiveness in Tissue Samples of Patients...
Bladder Papillary Urothelial CarcinomaStage 0a Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma6 moreThis research trial studies two types of tests, an ultrasound test and a biomarker test, to see how well they predict how aggressive (invasive) bladder cancer is in samples from patients with bladder cancer. The aggressiveness of a tumor means how likely it is to invade the body and spread. The ultrasound test uses a fluorescent dye and stimulates cells under a microscope to see how they respond. This may allow doctors to predict how likely the cancer cells are to spread in the body. The biomarker test uses laboratory testing of samples from patients to study genes and other molecules that may predict the cancer invasiveness. Comparing two different ways of predicting cancer aggressiveness may help doctors identify how well they work, and may eventually allow doctors to predict aggressiveness without needing to take a biopsy.
Circulating Tumor DNA in Patients at High Risk for Lung Cancer
Cancer of the LungLung Cancer4 morePatients who are about to undergo a diagnostic or therapeutic bronchoscopy or thoracic surgery without a distant history of cancer will have their blood drawn for measurement of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) to validate the utility of molecular diagnostic assays for the early detection of lung cancer.
Sentinel Lymph Node Identification in the Axilla of Women With Breast Cancer Using Ultrasound and...
Breast NeoplasmCarcinoma5 moreThis study evaluates a new method of testing the lymph nodes in the armpit of patients with breast cancer for tumor involvement. All participants involved in this study will undergo an injection of a small amount of iron dissolved in liquid followed by an ultrasound of the axilla that will make previously invisible lymph nodes visible, allowing them to be sampled in an outpatient setting.

Comparison of Efficacy and Safety Between Medical Radiation Protectants (FORRAD®) and Trolamine...
Nasopharyngeal NeoplasmsRadiodermatitisRadiation therapy remains the principal treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Although intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) has been widely used in China nowadays, radiation dermatitis is still common. It has an impact on pain and quality of life, and if severe, may lead to interruption of the radiation schedule for the patient. Trolamine (Biafine; Genmedix Ltd, France) is commonly prescribed at the beginning of radiotherapy for preventing acute radiation-induced skin toxicity in China. However, as long as grade ≥2 radiation dermatitis is developed, trolamine is not allowed to use any more. Medical Radiation Protectants (FORRAD®) is a new kind of topical agents for prevention and treatment of radiation dermatitis. It could be used during the course of radiotherapy, even when grade ≥2 dermatitis is developed. This randomized phase II study is aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of Medical Radiation Protectants (FORRAD®) for the prevention and treatment of acute radiation-induced dermatitis of grade 3 or higher during IMRT for patients with NPC, compared with trolamine.
Quality of Life Assessment in Daily Clinical Oncology Practice for Patients With Advanced Renal...
Renal Carcinoma MetastaticKidney Neoplasms1 morePhysician mainly use RECIST progression-free survival (PFS) and NCI CTCAE safety as a guide to evaluate treatment efficiency. In contrast Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) assessment is often restricted to clinical trial. It could be of particular interest to evaluate HRQOL in daily clinical practice in order to adequately choose and manage first line therapy, especially since HRQOL at diagnosis was shown to be a prognostic factor of overall survival in advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). A systematic collection in daily clinical practice of the HRQoL data using standardized questionnaires could strengthen management of symptoms : improve symptom control, improve patient-clinician communication, satisfaction with care and well-being of the patient and in fine the overall survival. The objective of the QUANARIE Study is to assess the use of HRQOL assessment in daily clinical practice for patients with mRCC treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) using electronic patient reported outcome (PRO). Indeed, the goal is to make the HRQoL data accessible and exploitable in real time to clinicians, to help medical professionals to optimize their practices by adopting a holistic and personalized approach based on patient reported outcomet.
