Early Nutritional Intervention in NPC Patients Undergoing Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy
MalnutritionNasopharyngeal CarcinomaThis single center, open-label, randomized controlled clinical trial was designed to investigate whether early nutritional intervention with oral nutrition supplements in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing chemoradiotherapy will improve nutritional status, quality of life and treatment tolerance.
Treatment of Basal Cell Carcinomas With Methyl Aminolevulinate and Daylight
Photodynamic TherapyBasal Cell CarcinomasPhotodynamic Therapy (PDT) is an effective treatment of basal cell carcinomas (BCC) however the inconvenience of clinic attendance and discomfort during therapy are significant drawbacks. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of daylight-mediated PDT of BCC.
The Effect of Telephone Counseling on the Compliance and Satisfaction for Advanced HCC Patients...
Hepatocellular CarcinomaSorafenib is an oral multikinase inhibitor with antiproliferative and antiangiogenic effects used as systemic treatment in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. Although sorafenib has demonstrated many clinical benefits in patients, its adverse cannot be ignores. This drug occasionally causes severe adverse events (AEs), which include hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR), hypertension, diarrhea, anorexia, fatigue, weight loss, and so on. Although most adverse events are reversible, they can significantly impact a patient's quality of life and occasionally result in dose reduction or discontinuation of therapy Patients are also more likely to remain on treatment if they are guided over the difficult initial 4~6wks of therapy during which time the development of adverse events following sorafenib treatment initiation are most likely to occur. Patient education, proactive management and establishing and maintaining open communication between patients and the nurse are crucial to the effective management of these adverse events. This study design is a randomized controlled trial and 64 patients will be randomized to one of 2 groups in a 1:1 ratio. 32 patients will be enrolled into the controlled group and the rest of 32 patients will be enrolled into the intervention group. The intervention group will be received the routine telephone calls of six times at intervals of once a week during 10~15 minutes (from a well-trained nurse) The purpose of this study is to confirm whether an effective intervention that telephone counseling and education by a nurse can increase drug compliance for patients with HCC who is taking Sorafenib and is to use for developing individual educational program as a fundamental data that can be applied for patients taking Sorafenib after investigating patient satisfaction by "The Satisfaction with information about Medicines Scale(SIMS)" tool.
Randomized Control Trial (RCT) of Early Palliative Care for HCC
CarcinomaHepatocellularThe purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effect of early palliative care consultation on quality of life, use of hospital resources, end-of-life care and survival among Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) patients with advanced End Stage Live Disease not eligible for potentially curative or local area therapy. Half of patients will receive early palliative care at diagnosis of HCC and other half will receive palliative care when all standard therapy treatments have been exhausted.

Clinical and Biological Digestive Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Data Base From the French National Network...
Digestive Peritoneal CarcinomatosisTo access to good quality biological samples is a prerequisite for high level translational research. The BIG-RENAPE study has been established by the French hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy centers involved in the management of peritoneal surface malignancies. The main BIG-RENAPE study aim is to create a large multicentric and prospective repository for biological and tissue samples, which will provide a source of materials for a wide array of health related research studies - BIG-RENAPE Biobank-based research: i) validating known and promising biomarkers; ii) identifying new predictive and prognostic factors; iii) evaluating the impact of current health care strategies; iv) standardizing diagnostic and therapeutic management through guidelines; v) developing new drugs. The BIG-RENAPE Biobank is certified according to NFS 96-900 as a service of processing, storage and transfer of high quality biological (plasma, serum, buffy coat) and tissue (formalin-fixed-paraffin-embedded) samples. Biospecimens are collected at each stage of diagnostic and therapeutic care. The patient and his derivates are anonymized and registered in a national web database reporting disease status, treatments, surgical procedures, pathological diagnosis, quality of life's assessment and long term follow-up. All participants have given their informed consent before any sample. The BIG-RENAPE study was approved by the local Ethical Committee, based on the assessed compliance to French regulatory rules.
Exercise for Patients With Renal Cell Cancer Receiving Sunitinib
Renal Cell CarcinomaIn this randomized, controlled trial the investigators evaluate the effects of an exercise program lasting for 12 weeks on the physical performance, the cardiovascular function (24h blood pressure, rest blood pressure and hear function) and the fatigue and mood of patients with renal cell carcinoma undergoing a therapy with Sunitinib.
Influence of Thyroid Hormones on the Woundhealing Process
Thyroid NeoplasmsThyroid CarcinomaMain goal of this clinical investigation is to investigate different cytokines in wound fluids of euthyroid vs. hypothyroid patients. As a primary endpoint we want to evaluate if different cytokine levels in euthyroid vs. hypothyroid patients exist and to what extent these cytokines differ. Our targeted cytokines are: IL6, IL10, TNFa and MCP-1. From the literature these 4 factors seem to be the most reasonable to measure and to focus on. Additionally we focus on these 4 factors for financial reasons, technically there wouldn't be a problem to measure more, which is correlated with higher costs. Besides, more than 6 factors would mean larger amounts of sample fluids needed, which would cause technical problems. These factors don't have to change in the same direction. Secondarily, we believe that differences in cytokine profiles of hypothyroidism vs. euthyroidism will correlate to differences in duration and clinical characteristics of the wound healing process.
Xihuang Capsules Prevention of Recurrence in Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma After Hepatectomy...
Hepatocellular CarcinomaStudy Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xihuang Capsules prevention of recurrence in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatectomy. Study Design: The study was A Multicenter, Randomized, Controlled, Open-Label, Parallel-Group Clinical Trial. Patients will be randomly assigned to Xihuang Capsules group or the control group by the proportion of 2: 1. The total sample size: 1000 cases. Study Process: The study is divided into three phases: the screening phase, treatment phase, follow-up phase. To complete screening in two weeks, patients who fit the criteria were randomly assigned to Xihuang Capsules group or the control group. In two weeks after hepatectomy, Xihuang Capsules group received Xihuang Capsules (2g,bid), Continuously taking to cancer recurrence or death.Control group was not received Xihuang Capsules. In the first month to three years after treatment, Conducting visits for once every three months,to evaluate the efficacy and safety with hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence rate in the three years after hepatectomy as the primary outcome. When entering the follow-up phase, Keeping in touch with patients withdrew from the study for a clinic or telephone follow-up every three months. From signing informed consent till the end of the study, inspecting the adverse events and concomitant medications for all subjects in each visit.
Exercise Training and Behavioral Modification for the Improvement of Physical Activity in Head and...
Head and Neck CarcinomaHypopharyngeal Carcinoma14 moreThis clinical trial evaluates the tolerability of a physical activity program in head and neck cancer patients who are undergoing cancer treatment. The goal of this trial is to give patients exercises prescribed by a physical therapist that they are able to complete regularly at home. Increasing physical activity may help patients reduce fatigue, improve mood, increase physical performance, and decrease joint pain.
