Role of Positron Emission Tomography in the Evaluation of Response to Sorafenib in Advanced Hepatocellular...

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Positron emission tomography (PET) with [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) evaluates cancer cell glycolysis(Warburg effect) as a surrogate for tumor response. The hypothesis of this study is that early changes in FDG-PET signal can predict sorafenib response in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Phase I/II Study of Postoperative Adjuvant Chemoradiation for Advanced-Stage Cutaneous Squamous...

Recurrent Skin CancerRecurrent Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lip and Oral Cavity4 more

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of linsitinib when given together with erlotinib hydrochloride and radiation therapy after surgery in treating patients with advanced or recurrent head and neck cancer. Erlotinib hydrochloride and linsitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving radiation therapy together with erlotinib hydrochloride and linsitinib may kill more tumor cells. Giving these treatments after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery.

Phase 1b Food Based Modulation of Biomarkers in Human Tissues at High-Risk for Oral Cancer.

Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer With Occult Primary Squamous Cell CarcinomaSalivary Gland Squamous Cell Carcinoma56 more

This randomized phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best way to give lyophilized black raspberries in preventing oral cancer in high-risk patients previously diagnosed with stage I-IV or in situ head and neck cancer. Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of lyophilized black raspberries may prevent oral cancer. Studying samples of oral cavity scrapings, blood, urine, and saliva in the laboratory from patients receiving lyophilized black raspberries may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and the effect of lyophilized back raspberries on biomarkers.

RF Ablation of Treatment of Metastatic Lesions in Patients Undergoing Antiangiogenic Therapy for...

Renal Cell Carcinoma

The purpose of this study is to look at the effects of a procedure called radiofrequency ablation on kidney tumors from patients who are undergoing antiangiogenic treatment. Antiangiogenic treatment is a type of treatment that inhibits formation of new blood vessels that are required for tumor growth. Radiofrequency ablation (RF ablation) involves inserting a needle into tumor tissue and administering heat to the tumor tissue that is sufficient to kill the tumor cells.

Feasibility Study of Short Term Fondaparinux (Arixtra) in Chemotherapy-Pretreated Ovarian Carcinoma...

Ovarian Carcinoma

The purpose of this study is to assess feasibility and safety of using once daily Fondaparinux Sodium (ARIXTRA®) in patients with ovarian cancer who are in 'clinical remission' (no clinical evidence of disease) after chemotherapy but at high risk of ovarian cancer recurrence.

Impact of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Imaging in Women With Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer...

Cervical CancerSquamous Cell Carcinoma2 more

The purpose of this trial is to improve the clinical management and outcome of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer by using positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) imaging. There is considerable debate worldwide regarding the utility of PET for staging cervical cancer. Although there are studies on the accuracy (sensitivity and specificity) of PET in cervical cancer, there are currently no prospective randomized studies on how PET information affects treatment decisions and outcomes.

Oregovomab With or Without Cyclophosphamide in Treating Patients With Stage III or Stage IV Ovarian...

Fallopian Tube CarcinomaPrimary Peritoneal Carcinoma3 more

This randomized clinical trial is studying the side effects of oregovomab and to see how well it works with or without cyclophosphamide in treating patients with stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer that responded to second-line chemotherapy. Monoclonal antibodies, such as oregovomab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether oregovomab is more effective when given together with or without cyclophosphamide in treating patients with stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer.

Treatment Study Using Bevacizumab for Patients With Adrenocortical Carcinoma

Adrenocortical Carcinoma

This is a Phase II study of intravenous Bevacizumab in patients with pathologically confirmed nonresectable primary adrenocortical cancer (ACC). Patients must have received no prior therapy. They will receive Bevacizumab as a single agent every 2 weeks intravenously until disease progression. This study will be open at multiple sites.

Arsenic Trioxide and Itraconazole in Treating Patients With Advanced Basal Cell Cancer

Skin Basal Cell Carcinoma

This pilot clinical trial studies how well arsenic trioxide and itraconazole work in treating patients with basal cell cancer that has spread to other places in the body and usually cannot be cured or controlled with treatment. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as arsenic trioxide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Itraconazole may help treat fungal infections in patients with basal cell cancer. Giving arsenic trioxide with itraconazole may work better in treating basal cell cancer.

Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular CarcinomaHepatocellular Carcinoma (Fibrolamellar Variant)1 more

This trial is a phase II, single arm, open-label, single center study to assess a reduced-intensity conditioning regimen, bone marrow transplantation and high dose PTCy in recipients of a partial liver allograft from a Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)-matched or -haploidentical living related donor in patients with HCC. The primary objective of this trial is to characterize recurrence-free survival at 1 year following bone marrow transplantation among recipients of prior partial liver transplantation from the same donor.
