The Calgary Family Intervention Model (CAMM), one of the nursing models, is the first family intervention model in the field of nursing. The model focuses on improving, developing and maintaining the family's functionality in three areas. These three areas are cognitive, emotional and behavioral.
I-CARE 2: Mobile Telehealth to Reduce Alzheimer'S-related Symptoms in Hispanic Individuals
Caregiver BurdenAlzheimer DiseaseThis study is a randomized, controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the effect of Brain CareNotes (a mobile health application) on the burden experienced by unpaid Hispanic caregivers of patients with dementia and on the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) displayed by care recipients. Over 10 months, the trial will enroll 40 Hispanic caregivers of community-dwelling patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia (ADRD). Caregivers will be randomized to use the Brain CareNotes app or an attention control education-only app for 12 months, with usage reminders.

Mobile App Intervention for Informal Dementia Caregivers
Caregiver BurdenDementia1 moreInformal caregivers of persons with dementia (PWD) usually experience elevated levels of caregiving burden and potential depression. This project aims to develop and pilot-test a mobile app intervention for informal caregivers of PWD in Singapore. The project will have three phases in total including 1) phase 1 - to develop the app prototype and collect feedback from caregivers via focused group discussions. 2) a pilot RCT with 100 participants in total - 50 will be required to use the app for one month while another 50 will be on a waiting list for one month. and 3) in-depth interviews to seek users' feedback on the app for its future improvements. We hypothesize that the mobile app designed through a user-centered process would lead to high acceptance and high user engagement among local dementia caregivers. The 1-month intervention using the app developed subsequently would lower the reported depressive symptoms among local dementia caregiver. It will also improve their knowledge of dementia, caregiving efficacy, positive coping strategy, perceived positive aspects of caregiver and social support, and their mental well-being; and reduce their caregiving burden, and level of anxiety, compared to the control group.

The main question[s] it aims to answer are: What is the extent to which the VOCALE LBD+ intervention affects caregiving mastery scores at the end of the eight-week intervention What is the extent to which a change in caregiving mastery scores is retained four weeks after the end of the VOCALE LBD+ intervention Participants will be asked to participate in a fully online asynchronous VOCALE LBD+ intervention that involves a moderated web-based discussion platform, peer-to-peer support, didactic training, and problem-solving skill enactment.

Intervention to Improve Diabetes Outcomes in Older African American Women With Multi-Caregiving...
Type 2 DiabetesThis is a two arm, pilot randomized control trial (RCT) in which 60 African American women (AAW), 40-64 years of age, with HbA1c ≥8% and multi-caregiving responsibilities will be recruited from communities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and randomized to either: 1) an individual-based, social support, health educator-facilitated intervention to address multi-caregiving responsibilities (n=30), or 2) individual-based, health educator-facilitated diabetes education and skills training and general health education (n=30). All sessions will be delivered via telephone (i.e., landline, mobile device, smart device, etc.) by a health educator (i.e., nurse, social worker, Master's trained health educator) and is comprised of 12 weekly sessions and 3 booster sessions. Each session will last up to 60min. All study assessments will be administered by a Program Assistant at baseline, 3-months, and 6-months.
Using Technology to Support Care Partners for Persons With Alzheimer's Disease: Tele-STELLA
DementiaAlzheimer Disease2 moreThe purpose of this study is to test a revised psychoeducational intervention to help Care Partners for family members with dementia understand and reduce the distressing behaviors that come with progressive dementia. Tele-STELLA (Support via TEchnology: Living and Learning with Advancing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias) is a multicomponent videoconference-based intervention designed to facilitate effective management of behavioral and psychological symptoms common to the later stages of dementia. In the Tele-STELLA intervention, professionals ("Guides") meet with family members ("Care Partners") who care for persons with dementia. Working together, the Care Partners and Guides identify strategies to address upsetting behaviors. The goal of this intervention is to reduce upsetting behaviors and, thus, Care Partner burden.
