Pain and Anxiety Reducing During Dental Treatment in Children Using Video Game on Tablet Device...
PulpotomyDental Caries1 moreThe aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of two different distraction techniques (Audio Video Distraction /Video Game Distraction) in the management of anxious pediatric patients during dental treatment. Group A: pulpotomy in temporary inferior molar will be treated with using video game on tablet device with wireless joystick and wireless headphone Group B: pulpotomy in temporary inferior molar will be treated with using AV tablet and wireless headphone. Group C (Control group): pulpotomy in temporary inferior molar will be treated with basic behavior guidance techniques and without using any type of distraction aids. All of the children who experienced a pulpotomy in temporary inferior molar with/without distraction will be assessed by using a combination of measures: Simplified Wong-Baker faces(self-report), and "HOUPT" Behavior Rating Scale for Movement - Crying - Overall Behavior (nonself-report).
6-year Clinical Evaluation of Glass Ionomer Cements (GIS) With Resin Coating on Posterior Teeth...
Dental CariesThe aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term clinical performance of two highly viscous encapsulated GICs (EquiaFil and Riva SC) covered with two different coatings (Equia Coat and Fuji Varnish) over 6-year using modified United State Public Health Service (USPHS) criteria. A total of 256 restorations were made with EquiaFil and Riva SC. Equia Coat or Fuji Varnish was used randomly on the surface of the restorations. The restorations were evaluated at baseline, 6, 12, 18 months and 6 years after placement using modified USPHS criteria. The results were evaluated with Pearson Chi-Square and Mann Whitney U-test (p< 0.05).
Evaluation of Oral Hygiene Products in an In Situ Caries Model
Dental CariesThe study will evaluate and compare the potential anti-caries efficacy of a test regimen: placebo (fluoride free) toothpaste (twice daily use) plus fluoride mouthwash (once daily use), in comparison with brushing with a placebo toothpaste alone (twice daily use), to remineralize previously demineralized enamel specimens, as measured by Surface MicroHardness Recovery (%SMHR). This will be a single center, randomized, laboratory analyst blinded, placebo, four treatment, cross-over study in healthy participants. Participants will be assessed at baseline and at the beginning and end of each treatment visit to monitor clinical efficacy and safety.
Occlusal ART Restorations in Primary Molars Using 3 Different GIC
Dental CariesThe aim of this study is to evaluate the survival rate and the cost-effectiveness of occlusal-ART restorations using three GIC brands (Fuji IX, GC Europe; Maxxion R, FGM; Vitro Molar, DFL) in primary molars.
The Use of Pit and Fissure Sealants in Children Requiring Caries Related Dental Extractions
Dental CariesThe purpose of thus study is to assess the feasibility and inform the planning of a proposed definitive randomised controlled clinical trial to investigate the efficacy of sealing permanent molars in children requiring caries related extractions under a chair General Anaesthetic.
Radiographic Progression of Infiltrated Caries Lesions In-vivo
Dental CariesThis study is investigating the efficacy of caries lesion infiltration therapy as compared to the current preventative approach for early caries lesions.
Postoperative Pulpal Complications in Posterior Resin Composite Restorations Without Glass-ionomer...
Dental CariesThe purpose of this study is to observe the effects of glass-ionomer cement (GIC) lining on risk of pulpal complications in deep occlusal cavities with resin-based restorations.
Conservative Versus Non-conservative Treatment for Severe Dental Caries
Dental CariesThe purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of the conservative (pulpectomy) versus non-conservative treatment (tooth extraction) of primary molars affected with severe dental caries associated to oral health-related quality of life, anthropometric and clinical outcomes.
Radiographic Progression of Sealed and Infiltrated Caries Lesions in Vivo
Dental CariesThe purpose of this study was to compare with a clinical randomized controlled split-mouth design study the changes in the therapeutic effect of infiltrating versus sealing proximal caries lesions and placebo treatment after 1, 2 and 3 years. The outcome was lesion progression, evaluated by radiographic techniques.
Dental Anesthesia in Pregnant Women With Rheumatic Heart Disease
Rheumatic Heart DiseasePregnancy1 moreThe hemodynamic parameters of 31 pregnant women with rheumatic valve disease, undergoing restorative dentistry under local anesthesia with 2% solution of lidocaine, divided in two groups, with (Group LE) and without 1:100,000 epinephrine solution (Group LNE), were studied by 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring, intermittent blood pressure monitoring and continuous cardiotocography, during three standard time periods. A significant decrease in the values of maternal heart rate was seen during the procedure, in comparison with the other two time periods in the two groups, as well as, the occurrence of cardiac arrhythmia in 9 (29.1%) patients, being 7 (41.8%) of them in the group receiving epinephrine anesthesia. We conclude the use of 2% lidocaine in association with epinephrine proved safe during dental procedure in pregnant women with rheumatic valve disease.
