Comparative Effects of Dual Task and PNF on Balance ,Cognition and Motor Function in Chronic Stroke...

Stroke

The aim of this study is to compare the effect of dual tasking and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation on balance, cognition and motor function in chronic stroke patients. It will be randomized clinical trial.

Influence of Cognition on Activity and Participation in People With Stroke

StrokeCognitive Change4 more

If a subject agrees to participate, the primary investigators will collect some basic information including age, height, and weight. Intake of some general questions regarding health will be performed and each subject will complete some tests that measure walking speed, cognition, and balance. During these tests participants will be asked to stand from a chair, walk up & down a staircase, walk over objects in a forward, backward, and sideways directions, walk around objects in forward and backward directions. After completing those tests, participants will be asked to repeat them while doing another task such as counting out loud, naming objects, or passing an object from one hand to another.

Radiosurgery Treatment for Spasticity Associated With Stroke, SCI & Cerebral Palsy

Spasticity as Sequela of StrokeSpastic Cerebral Palsy2 more

A scientific study is being done to test a special treatment for people who have spasticity or tight muscles. This treatment is called "stereotactic radiosurgery dorsal rhizotomy." It uses very accurate beams of radiation to target certain nerves in the back to help loosen up the muscles. In this study, people are put into two groups by chance: one group gets the real treatment, and the other group gets a "fake" treatment that doesn't do anything. This fake treatment is called a "sham." Doing this helps make sure the study is fair and the results are true. After the people in the study get their treatment, the researchers will watch and see how they do. They will check if their muscles are less stiff and if they have any side effects. By looking at the results from both groups, the researchers can find out if the special treatment really helps people with spasticity. Patients who got the "fake" treatment will be eligible to receive the "real" treatment after 6 months.

A Clinical Trial to Study the Effects of Bobath Therapy With and Without EMG Biofeedback Therapy...

Stroke

Stroke is a leading cause of disability worldwide. It has a negative impact on the cognitive and sensorimotor functions. Motor recovery becomes essential in rehabilitation phase to make the patient independent in activities of daily living along with improved lower extremity function, balance and gait. Studies show that both EMG Biofeedback therapy and Bobath therapy is effective in improving lower extremity function. Out of those studies, to the best of the investigators knowledge, no study has been conducted to find out the efficacy of EMG Biofeedback therapy along with Bobath therapy on lower extremity functions, balance and gait in stroke patients. Therefore the purpose of the study is to find out the comparative efficacy of EMG Biofeedback therapy along with Bobath therapy and Bobath therapy alone on lower extremity functions, balance and gait in patients with stroke.

Sodium Valproate Improves Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke

Acute Ischemic Stroke

This prospective pilot study is intended to clarify whether the use of sodium valproate in patients with acute ischemic stroke can improve clinical outcomes, and to explore the mechanism: whether valproate could increase peripheral anti-inflammatory CD177+ neutrophils levels. Patients with acute ischemic stroke included in the study will be randomly assigned to low-dose sodium valproate group, high-dose sodium valproate group and placebo group. Besides receiving conventional treatment for stroke, 10mg/kg sodium valproate, 20mg/kg sodium valproate or normal saline were given intravenously for 3 consecutive days, respectively. The investigators evaluate whether sodium valproate can improve clinical outcomes and increase peripheral CD177+ neutrophil levels.

ACTive Exoskeleton for Unilaterally-Assisted Locomotion (ACTUAL)

Stroke SequelaeGait1 more

Walking difficulties are common symptoms after stroke, significantly reducing quality of life. Walking recovery is therefore one of the main priorities of rehabilitation. Wearable powered exoskeletons have been developed to provide lower limb assistance and enable training for persons with gait impairments by using typical physiological movement patterns. Exoskeleton were originally designed for individuals without any walking capacities, such as subjects with a complete spinal cord injury. Recent systematic reviews suggested that lower limb exoskeletons could be valid tools to restore independent walking in subjects with residual motor function, such as persons post-stroke.The aim of the study was to identify the end-users needs and to develop a user-centered-based control system for the TWIN lower limb exoskeleton to provide an efficient post-stroke rehabilitation of gait. The investigators thus carried out the development and validation through evaluation sessions performed on healthy clinical experts and persons with stroke to evaluate TWIN-Acta usability, acceptability, and barriers of usage. A phase two includes a pilot study of efficacy of using the TWINActa for gait rehabilitation for persons with stroke.

Neuromodulation Using Vagus Nerve Stimulation Following Ischemic Stroke as Therapeutic Adjunct

Acute Ischemic Stroke

This is a randomized open-label, with blinded outcome pilot study to evaluate the effect on inflammatory laboratory values and explore clinical outcomes in patients who present with ischemic strokes due to large vessel occlusions and are treated with either current accepted management, or accepted management in addition to transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation.
