An Optimization Pilot to Optimize An Early Palliative Care Intervention for Advanced Heart Failure...
Heart Failure NYHA Class IIIHeart Failure NYHA Class IV1 moreUsing a highly innovative methodology, the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST), the purpose of this randomized factorial pilot trial is to identify feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of components of an intervention (UPHOLDS) to improve quality of life of older adults with advanced heart failure. Using a 2x2x2x2 factorial design, 64 adults with advanced heart failure will be randomized to receive one or more palliative care coach-delivered components, based on Ferrans' Health-Related Quality of Life Model: 1) psychoeducation on palliative care principles (4 vs. 8 sessions); 2) financial coaching (yes vs. no); 3) one-time specialty outpatient palliative care consultation (yes vs. no); and monthly follow (1 monthly follow-up call vs. monthly follow-up calls for 24 weeks).
Narrative Intervention for Chronic Illness
Heart FailureHeart Failure NYHA Class III1 moreThe proposed study will test the NICI intervention. This study will gain insight into living with heart failure and learn if the NICI intervention is feasible and acceptable for people living with heart failure in both rural and urban locations. The study has two specific aims: Explore patterns and themes in illness narratives shared using thematic narrative inquiry to inform the tailoring content of the intervention (Phase 1). Establish the acceptability, satisfaction, and feasibility of an asynchronous narrative intervention for people living with HF in both rural and urban settings. Review trends and patterns in depression and anxiety outcomes in both rural and urban settings for efficacy. (Phase 2).
Effectiveness and Tolerability of LabiaStick#01 in Subjects With Symptomatic Non-hypertrophic Chronic...
Chronic Disease of SkinThe current study aims to investigate the effectiveness in clinical symptomatic control and tolerability of LabiaStick#01 in women with symptomatic non-hypertrophic chronic vulvar dermatoses.
Steroid Delivery to the Frontal Sinus Opening With a Bioabsorbable Implant vs. a Bioabsorbable Nasal...
Chronic Rhinosinusitis (Diagnosis)The purpose of this study is to compare how two different post-surgical treatments that both deliver steroids to the frontal sinus opening affect your healing after frontal sinus surgery.
Community Health Worker Intervention to Improve Post-Hospital Outcomes
Chronic Disease (Physical)Mental DisorderThis study tests an intervention designed to avoid 30-day readmissions following a medical hospitalization by patients who have co-occurring mental illness. The Intervention is delivered by community health workers in the inpatient setting and 30 days following hospital discharge to the community.

Multicenter Research Study to Build a Repository to Study Chronic Diseases in Indiana
Diabetes Mellitus Type IIBlood samples and health information (e.g., age at diagnosis, test results) are collected for the purposes of genetic research. The blood samples are assigned a number and stored in a repository for safe keeping until they are needed for a research project. Participants are persons who are healthy (not having high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol levels) or persons who have Diabetes Mellitus Type II(T2D) and live in Indiana. Participants complete a questionnaire at the time the blood sample is drawn. Visits are repeated at 2 and 5 years after initial contact. Researchers apply to the Fairbanks Institute for use of the blood samples and health information minus participant names and contact information. Their research is required to be related to find genes or substances made by genes that may be involved in Diabetes Mellitus Type II with the purpose of improving the investigators understanding of the illness potentially leading to the development of new diagnostic tools for identifying the illness, new treatments,or preventative measures.
Efficacy and Safety of AQX-1125 in Subjects With Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome...
Chronic ProstatitisChronic Pelvic Pain SyndromeThis is a randomized, multi-center, double-blind, parallel-group study, enrolling approximately 100 male subjects diagnosed with CP/CPPS to evaluate the effect of 12-week treatment with AQX-1125 (active drug) compared to placebo. The subjects will be randomized to receive orally once-daily either AQX-1125 (200 mg) or placebo in a 1:1 ratio across approximately 30 centers in North America (United States and Canada). The study will consist of a screening period of up to 3 weeks, a 12-week treatment period followed by a 4-week off drug safety follow-up period, and an ophthalmic safety follow-up call at 3 months and visit at 6 months post last dose, for a total study duration of about 41 weeks.
Diabetes Communication and Treatment Burden
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreThe objective of this proposal is to pilot test two types of pre-visit planning, where clinical staff reviews charts and talks to patients before their doctors appointments, to reduce the burden of diabetes care on the patient without increasing the visit workload during busy primary care clinics.
