Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate vs. Entecavir in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients With Partial Virologic...
Chronic Hepatitis BEntecavir, a potent antiviral agent, has been widely used for treatment-naïve chronic hepatitis B patients. However, about 20% of patients showed partial virologic response after 2 year of entecavir therapy (33% in HBeAg positive, 10% in HBeAg negative patients). Tenofovir is a nucleotide analogue with more potent antiviral activity. In addition, there is no cross resistance between the two drugs. Therefore it is assumed that tenofovir would be effective in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B patients who shows partial virologic response (detectable HBV DNA by real time PCR after 12 months of treatment) despite treatment with entecavir. In this study, we will compare the efficacy of switching to tenofovir with continuing entecavir in patients who shows partial virologic response to entecavir.
Tenofovir in Asian Chronic Hepatitis B Patients
Chronic Hepatitis BTenofovir (TDF) has been demonstrated to have potency antiviral against the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in various multiple-centre trials, with no cases of resistance encountered. However, its efficacy and resistance profile in the Asian population, which constitute the majority of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, is unknown. Compared to other nucleoside analogues, TDF has been associated with relatively high rates of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance. It would be interested to see if this could be reproduced. The investigators plan to report the serologic and virologic results of our 140 nucleoside analogue-experienced patients who were commenced on TDF.

Hepatitis BChronicThis study will compare the efficacy and safety of 2 different durations of treatment with pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) alfa-2a in participants with Hepatitis B e Antigen (HBeAg)-negative chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV). It will also compare PEG-IFN alfa 2a treatment alone and in combination with lamivudine (LAM). The anticipated time on study treatment is 1-2 years, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

Chronic Hepatitis BThis study is a multi-center, randomized, open-label and positive controlled Phase II Clinical trial to assess efficacy and safety of Ypeginterferon alfa-2b, once a week, in 3 dose-groups: 90mcg, 135mcg and 180mcg, respectively, for treatment of chronic hepatitis B characterized by HBeAg positivity, with Pegasys 180mcg/week as positive control. It is aimed to establish a dose response and safety relationship sufficient to allow the subsequent design and conduct of Phase III trials, and generate pharmacokinetic data of Ypeginterferon alfa-2b in hepatitis B patients to satisfy regulatory requirements.

Adefovir and Lamivudine for Entecavir Resistance (ALTER Study)
Chronic Hepatitis BEntecavir has been one of the option for treatment of lamivudine resistant chronic hepatitis B (CHB). In case of entecavir resistance, adefovir could be used. However, sequential monotherapy may result in multidrug resistance. It is thought that adefovir and lamivudine combination therapy reduce the risk of adefovir resistance, thereby continued therapy will lead to suppression of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA to be undetectable in patients with entecavir resistance. This study aim to evaluate the efficacy of adefovir and lamivudine combination therapy in CHB patients with entecavir resistance.
