PECS I Block for Breast Subpectoral Implant Surgery

PainPostoperative

Breast augmentation surgery can cause important postoperative pain, especially when bilateral subpectoral implants are used. The investigators hypothesized that a technique of regional analgesia, the pectoral nerve block type I (or "PECS I block") would reduce pain within the first twenty-four hours and, in turn, morphine consumption and associated side effects. This is a randomized, controlled, double-blind study which compares intra and postoperative analgesia with or without PECS I block in breast surgery.

Ondansetron's Opposite Effect on Postoperative Analgesia of Acetaminophen

Postoperative Pain

The purpose of the study is to determine whether the effect of ondansetron on the analgesic effect of acetaminophen. Because 5HT3 blockers prevent the analgesic effects of acetaminophen and also reduce opioid consumption

Ultrasound-guided Rectus Sheath Block In Children

Postoperative Pain

Inguinal hernia repair is one of the common day-case surgery in children. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of ultrasound guided rectus sheath block and intravenous tramadol on peroperative anesthetic requirement and postoperative analgesia.

Effect of Single Dose Ketamine and Magnesium on Postoperative Pain in Patients Undergoing Bariatric...

Obesity

Opioid sparing analgesia is extremely important in the post-operative obese population. With more and more obese patients entering the operating room a multi-modal approach to analgesia is crucial. Finding effective alternatives to opioid therapy is the rationale of this proposal. Literature involving ketamine and magnesium in bariatric surgical patients is very sparse.

Post-Operative Pain

The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of the sublingual Sufentanil Tablet (ST) 30 mcg to the sublingual Placebo Tablet (PT) for the short-term management of moderate-to-severe acute post-operative pain in patients after abdominal surgery.

Transversus Abdominis Plane Block Versus Ilioinguinal Nerve Block for Pain Management in Inguinal...

PainPostoperative

This study compares efficacy of transversus abdominis plane block and ilioinguinal nerve block for postoperative pain in patients undergoing inguinal herniorraphy with spinal anesthesia. One-third of the patients will receive standard postoperative pain regimen(control group), one-third will receive a transversus abdominis plane block (with ultrasound guidance) and the last group will receive an ilioinguinal nerve block(with ultrasound guidance) in addition to standard postoperative pain regimen. This study is a Randomized prospective open-label controlled study.

Dose Dependent Effects of tDCS on Post-Operative Pain

Total Knee Arthroplasty (Postoperative Pain)Total Hip Arthroplasty(Postoperative Pain)

The proper control of acute and chronic pain is one of the most important areas in health care. Despite the profound advances in neuroscience over the past 20 years, the investigators still largely use opiate narcotics, much as was done in the Civil War. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most common orthopedic procedures performed 1. While knee pain is often a complaint that precedes TKA, the procedure itself is associated with considerable post-operative pain lasting days to weeks. Adequate postoperative pain control is an important factor in determining recovery time and hospital length of stay. New analgesic strategies are needed that can be used adjunctively to existing strategies with the potential to reduce reliance on opioid analgesia. Several novel brain stimulation technologies including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) are beginning to demonstrate promise as treatments for a variety of pain conditions. Electricity has no metabolite or other residue, and can be delivered with minimal discomfort and without problems associated with drug-drug interactions. In two independent preliminary pilot studies, the Investigators have shown that tDCS can reduce post-operative PCA use by as much as 46% while simultaneously reducing subjective pain ratings. The present study aims to determine the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on post-operative pain, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) use, and post-surgical complications during the 48-hour post-operative period following total knee arthroplasty.

Comparison Between Perineural and Systemic Effect of Dexamethasone as an Adjuvant for Prolongation...

AnalgesiaPain1 more

The addition of dexamethasone (DxaM) to local anesthetic may significantly prolong the duration of a block in total knee arthroplasty. The aim of this study is to determine whether this is a systemic or local effect.
