Fractional Photothermolysis for the Treatment of Burn Scars
ScarThe aim of our study is to determine the effect of fractional photothermolysis laser in the treatment of burn scars.
Prevascar in African Continental Group Scarring
ScarringThere is considerable variation in scarring, within and between people, and between different ethnic groups. Individuals with more pigmented skin are more prone to severe scarring than those traditionally termed white. Prevascar is being developed by Renovo for use as a potential treatment for reducing scarring. Renovo's histological analysis of wounds and scars in human non drug studies demonstrates an increase in wound and scar width in subjects of African Caribbean ancestry over a 12 month period. It is hypothesised that IL-10 may be a potentially beneficial therapy for the reduction of scarring in Non Caucasians of African-Caribbean ancestry. This Renovo clinical trial will be carried out primarily to establish the effects of four doses of Prevascar on 1cm incisional and excisional scars in subjects of African Continental Group ancestry, as compared to placebo, and to further investigate the safety and tolerance of intradermally injected Prevascar in wounds.
Treatment of Caesarean Scar Pregnancy
Caesarean Scar PregnancyThe aim of this study is to further demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of transvaginal resection of pregnancy tissue in the treatment of Caesarean Scar Pregnancy (CSP).
Acticoat Absorbent and BCT Antimicrobial for STSG Donor Site on Thigh
Wound HealingWound Infection3 moreThis study aims to compare the effectiveness of two wound dressings, Acticoat Absorbent (AA) and BCT Antimicrobial (BCT) on Split Thickness Skin Graft (STSG) donor site.
Microneedling Therapy With or Without Amnion Bilayer Sheeting on Scar Tissue
ScarsHypertrophic1 moreThe aim of this study is to compare the outcome of microneedling therapy with or without amnion bilayer sheeting on post-burn hypertrophic scar tissue. A clinical trial will be conducted with 17 samples, from September to December 2021.
Influence of a Silicone Gel (Dermatix®) on Thoracic Scar Formation After Harvesting of Autologous...
CicatrixHypertrophic1 moreSo far the evaluation of scar treatment was based on subjective criteria. The patient groups were divided into treated versus non-treated. In this study we use patients undergoing ear reconstruction with autologous rib cartilage. The thoracic scar of harvesting the rib cartilage is routinely reopened after 3 month during second stage of reconstruction. Therefore we have a ideal model of clinical, physiological and histological scar evaluation in a homologous patient group. All patients randomly treat one half of the scar with a silicone gel (Dermatix). The other half is untreated as an internal control.
Comparison of Different Umbilical Port Entry Techniques in Terms of Cosmetic Results
CicatrixInvestigators selected participants who operated by laparoscopic technique due to any gynecologic indication according to random number table. The ten mm trocar was inserted supraumbilical, infraumbilical and intraumbilical. The verres needle was not used in all of patients. One month after we evaluated umbilical scar by used vancouver scar scale and compared results of vancouver scar scale.
Comparison of Fast-Absorbing Sutures for Mohs Surgery
CicatrixThis study is being carried out to assess equivalence of scar outcome for two absorbable sutures used for wound closure on the face in dermatologic surgery: rapidly absorbable polyglactin 910 (VicrylRapide™) and fast-absorbing plain gut (5-0 fast). This is important because absorbable sutures are commonly used in Mohs surgery for epidermal closure, yet there is no evidence indicating if any of the sutures above allow for a better cosmetic outcome (less erythema, edema, and scarring).
Bleb Vascularity Change After Subconjunctival Injection Bevacizumab
Bleb VascularityConjunctival ScarringThe occurrence of conjunctival scarring finally leads to the obstruction of the fistula tract created by the filtering surgery. Vascular endothelial growth factor is thought to be a key role in the formation of conjunctival scar, which play a pivotal role in the wound-healing process. So it seems that the recombinant human anti-VEGF antibody could inhibit angiogenesis, and reduce the conjunctival vascular formation in the wound-healing process after glaucoma filtering surgery.
