Effect of Neem and NaOCl on Postoperative Pain and Amount of Endotoxins

PainPostoperative Pain3 more

The aim of this study is to compare the effect of Neem (azadirachta indica) and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite as root canal irrigants on the intensity of post-operative pain and the amount of endotoxins in necrotic teeth.

The Impact of Prehabilitation Bundle on Perioperative Outcome for Frail Elderly Patients Undergoing...

ComplicationPostoperative1 more

This study aims to study the efficacy of a preoperative "bundle" of interventions, which consists of preoperative physiotherapy, nutritional support and cognitive exercises on elderly frail patients undergoing major abdominal surgery, and evaluating their outcomes. There will be two arms, intervention and control.

Different Anesthetic Managements of Esophageal Resection and Reconstruction

AnesthesiaEsophagus Cancer1 more

Anesthetic management and fluid therapy is crucial in esophageal resection and reconstruction, which is associated with high incidence of postoperative morbidity and mortality. This study aims to investigate the effect of goal directed fluid management on the postoperative outcome of esophageal resection and reconstruction.

Comparative Evaluation of Post Endodontic Pain Following Root Canal Treatment With Two Rotary System:...

PainPostoperative Pain Pathologic Processes Postoperative Complications Signs and Symptoms

Today, dentists tend to use rotary systems. Despite the increasing diversity of these systems as well as a few studies on the prevalence of pain after root canal treatment by rotary systems, And in particular, comparing the amount of pain after treatment, between systems RECIPROCAL AND FULL ROTATION single-file, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of applying canal preparation by the system, Neolix and WaveOne, on the prevalence of pain after endodontic treatments.

Effect of a Post-operative Protocol of Early Mobilization on Functional Recovery and Postoperative...

Rectal Cancer

Major abdominal oncology surgery is associated with substantial postoperative loss of functional capacity, and exercise may be an effective intervention to improve outcomes. The aim of this study was to assess efficacy, feasibility and safety of a supervised postoperative exercise programme in patients undergoing immediate internal pudendal artery perforator flap reconstruction for irradiated abdominoperineal resection defects. We will perform a open label, parallel-arm, randomized trial in patients who underwent immediate internal pudendal artery perforator flap reconstruction for irradiated abdominoperineal resection defects in a tertiary university hospital. Patients will be randomized to an early mobilization postoperative programme based on supervised aerobic exercise, resistance and flexibility training or to standard rehabilitation care - bed restriction for 5 days. The primary outcome will be inability to walk without human assistance at postoperative day 5 or hospital discharge. The secondary outcomes will be incidence of surgical complications, ability of walk assessed for the 6-minute walk test, incidence and intensity of fatigue measured by Piper's Revised Fatigue Scale, improvement of quality of life measured by EuroQuol-5D-5L Questionnaire, Incidence of deep venous thrombosis.

Combination Chemotherapy With or Without Bevacizumab in Treating Patients With Nonmetastatic Breast...

Breast CancerCardiac Toxicity1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, fluorouracil, epirubicin hydrochloride, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. It is not yet known whether giving combination chemotherapy together with or without bevacizumab is more effective in treating patients with nonmetastatic breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying how well giving combination chemotherapy works compared with giving combination chemotherapy together with bevacizumab in treating patients with nonmetastatic breast cancer.

Pancreas CancerPancreatic Fistula

Pancreatic fistula (PF) represents the Achille's heel of pancreatic surgery and is the main cause of postoperative morbidity since it can determine the onset of others complications such as abdominal abscesses, surgical wound infections, sepsis and bleeding, that can sometimes be fatal. During a previous study conducted at the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome, Department of General Surgery there were identified cut-offs of amylase levels on the abdominal drainage fluid dosed in I postoperative day (POD1) and III postoperative day (POD3) which can significantly predict PF and in particular clinically relevant fistulas as well as abdominal collections and biliary fistulas, if related to some specific findings of the abdominal CT routine performed in POD3. The aim of this research project is to validate the cut-offs of the amylase levels on drainage fluid identified during the previous research in order to identify patients at risk of clinically relevant PF and to validate the use of abdomen CT without contrast in POD3 in patients with increased risk of biliary fistula.

Effects of Preoperative Anxiety and Depression on Short-term Postoperative Recovery in Early Gastric...

Postoperative ComplicationsAnxiety2 more

This study aims to investigate preoperative anxiety, depression, and coping strategy of the patients undergoing laparoscopic gastrectomy for early gastric cancer and their effects on short-term postoperative recovery measured by Quality of Recovery-15 (QOR-15). The findings of the study would improve the perioperative management of early gastric cancer patients.

Comparative Study of Antiperistaltic vs Isoperistaltic Billroth II + Braun Anastomosis for Postoperative...

Gastric CancerPostoperative Complications

Postoperative gastroesophageal reflux is one of the most common complications of distal gastrectomy. With more attention paid on it by surgeons, several new operation methods have been practised. Among all these, distal gastrctomy with Billroth II + Braun anastomosis was reported to be an useful method to decrease postoperative reflux rate. Meanwhile, the direction of anastomotic peristalsis has also been reported to affect the anastomosis and thus make difference in reflux rate. We design this study to investigate the potential effect and the superiority of antiperistaltic vs isoperistaltic Billroth II + Braun reconstruction in distal gastrectomy.
