Gait Asymmetry Assessed Using Portable Gait Analysis System
Ankle OsteoarthritisKnee Osteoarthritis3 moreTo date, detailed analysis of movement patterns in orthopaedic conditions are mainly performed in research projects. Because these tests are time consuming, they are not feasible in clinical routine or in standard examinations. Novel technologies allow capturing detailed movement patters within a few minutes. The aim of this regional study is to compare aspects of movement tasks measured using a mobile gait analysis system to those measured using laboratory based systems and to determine aspects of gait patterns relevant for different orthopaedic conditions. Moreover, the researchers will investigate if these relevant aspects can be altered using surgical treatment or manual therapy.
Splinting for Dupuytren's Contracture Release
Dupuytren's DiseaseThis study is comparing two different kinds of splints for patients who have had a surgical contracture release of dupuytren's disease. It compares a static splint and a dynamic splint.
Ultrasound B Mode Imaging and Elastography
Dupuytren's ContracturesA Pilot Study on Ultrasound B mode Imaging and Elastography during administration of Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) for Dupuytren's contracture.
Is wGRS Associated With DD Recurrence?
Dupuytren ContractureRationale: Retrospectively reviewing the participants of the GODDAF database, revealed a significant association between the weighted genetic risk score and Dupuytren disease recurrence. However, a significant dose-response relation was not found. This might be caused by underestimating the recurrence rate, due to the retrospective nature of determining recurrence. Therefore, we want to do a follow-up measurement of the GODDAF participants, to see whether they suffered from recurrent disease. Objective: We aim to determine whether the wGRS is associated with recurrent DD. Study design: An observational study, in which the participants of the GODDAF study are followed up. Study population: Patients affected by Dupuytren disease, aged 18-96 years, who were previously included in another study on the genetic basis of Dupuytren disease. Intervention (if applicable): NA Main study parameters/endpoints: The main study parameter is the presence of recurrent Dupuytren disease.
Post Approval Commitment Study
Dupuytren's ContractureAn agreement has been made to conduct a post-approval commitment study that provides supplementary information relating to the use of Xiapex® as well as other non-pharmacological treatments for Dupuytren's contracture by health care professionals in a real world clinical setting.
Joint Stiffness Following Knee Replacement Surgery
Joint ContractureOur primary research question is to find out whether there is a genetic component to the development of joint contractures following knee surgery, through the application of lab techniques.
Creating a Tissue Bank of Knee Capsules
OsteoarthritisKnee Joint ContracturesA contracture is a pathological condition limiting range and function of joints. Contractures of large and small joints alike will affect one's ability to independently perform daily activities such as eating, dressing or walking. Current treatments for contractures include physical stretching, the use of assistive devices or, rarely, surgery. Despite prolonged treatments, patients with contractures rarely regain complete mobility. Progress in preventing and treating contractures will be possible only through an understanding of the biological and molecular processes involved. Our group has established and validated an animal model to study the histological events and the molecular mechanisms involved in joint contractures. We have provided evidence for capsule stiffness, characterized cartilage degeneration, and identified four genes whose expression is altered in the cartilage of a knee joint with contracture. The work we propose in the current study aims at finding genes and pathways in the joint capsule associated with knee joint contractures. The results will identify new avenues for treating the large number of patients suffering from contractures.
Functional and Morphological Characteristics of Neck Muscles in Acrobatic Skydivers
Neck Muscle IssueSternocleidomastoid; Contracture1 moreAn observational cohort study, following the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology(STROBE) guidelines. Two groups will be examined, a group composed by spanish acrobatic skydivers and a control group composed by general physically active population(GPAP).
Youth Throwers Respond to Stretching
Shoulder Posterior Capsular ContractureThe purpose of this study is to document the rates of youth baseball player demographics, incidence of arm pain, usage of different pitch types, and degree of internal rotation contracture in the throwing versus the non-throwing shoulder. We followed a subgroup of players for a year to see if a particular stretch would help reduce the internal rotation contracture.
