Impact of Cancellation of Non-urgent Surgical Cases on Patients During the COVID-19 Pandemic
SatisfactionPatient1 moreA questionnaire is developed based on the literature and clinical experience. Initial testing will be performed on 20 patients. The first and second sectors include patient demographics and patient clinical diagnosis/scheduled surgery, respectively. The following sectors examine the process of delivering the cancellation/re-scheduling; care after cancellation and whether the procedure conducted elsewhere or not; and the impact of cancellation on patient health, career, and financial aspects.
CORE Study COVID-19
Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)This is a Brazilian version of the Clinical Characterization Protocol for Serious Emerging Infections (ISARIC/WHO ). This is a standardized protocol for the rapid, coordinated clinical investigation of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Patients with acute illness suspected to be caused by emerging will be enrolled. This protocol has been designed to enable data to be prospectively collected.
Physiology and Structure of the Small Airways in Patients With Chronic Airflow Obstruction or COVID-19...
CopdCOVID-192 moreThe purpose of this research project is to study small airways physiological function in patients with chronic obstructive lung disease or COVID-19 and explore the relationship with in-vivo microanatomical small airway structure as measured by OCT. Correlating endobronchial assessment with multiple breath nitrogen washout and impulse oscillometry will allow the characterisation of the relationship between small airway structural findings and these validated investigations. A small volume lung wash, endobronchial brushings and the collection of a limited number of endobronchial cryobiopsy samples will be performed to better understand the endobronchial environment of the small airways through inflammatory studies. Following the completion of any such work, residual samples will be stored in a "bio-bank" to enable the completion of future work. Understanding the relationship with symptom-based quality of life scoring questionnaires and a functional assessment of exercise capacity will help elucidate the clinical impact of in-vivo small airways findings.
Epidemiological Investigation of COVID-19 in Laos Using a One-Health Approach in Human and Animals...
Influenza -Like IllnessCovid19The Respiratory infection COVID-19, due to a new coronavirus, SARS-CoV2, appeared in December 2019 in several people who attended the wildlife market in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. While COVID-19 has spread to nearly 200 countries and caused two millions infections, Lao PDR detected its first confirmed case very recently, on March 20, three months after the start of the outbreak in China. As of April 12th, 2020, Lao PDR has only recorded 18 confirmed cases, a very low number compared to other countries around the world. However, several key factors suggest that Lao PDR could be much more affected by COVID-19 because of the following reasons: (i) The multiple and massive trans-border movements between Lao PDR and China. (ii) The similar biogeographical and socio-ecological characteristics with South-Western China. (iii) The detection of a high diversity of Betacoronavirus sequences in several species of bats in Lao PDR. (iv) The numerous markets selling high volumes of local wildlife including bats and pangolins. LACOVISS project aim at investigating, using a ONE-HEALTH approach, this unexpected epidemiological pattern of SARS-CoV-2 in Lao PDR by bringing together an interdisciplinary team of experts in the field from IRD, the University of Caen, the Center of Infectiology Lao-Christophe Mérieux (CILM) and the National animal Health Laboratory (NAHL) in Vientiane. The study will focus on a community-based cohort of 1092 households, including 5400 study participants, followed-up between March 2015 and February 2019 for influenza-like illness investigation and causative agents detection (LACORIS project), located in the Vientiane metropolitan area. The COVID-19 progression in Lao PDR, and track SARS-CoV-2, will be followed retrospectively and prospectively, in all potential actors in SARS-CoV-2 circulation, including humans, domestic animals, and wildlife. The LACOVISS project will undoubtedly bring new insight in SARS-Cov-2 and SARS-CoV-like circulation in Lao PDR as well as valuable information on the natural history of COVID-19, and on the modalities of the spillover into humans, which are still largely unknown.
Case Series Study to Detect SARS-CoV-2 in Semen of COVID-19 Patients
SARS-CoV-2A descriptive, clinical series, single-centre, national, biomedical study to determine the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in sperm samples from positive PCR patients for COVID-19 and to evaluate the presence of the virus in the sperm samples after a negative PCR for COVID-19
Prognostic Value of Flow-mediated Dilation in Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients
Covid19SARS-CoV InfectionThis study will evaluate the associations between vascular parameters and clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized with COVID-19. The vascular function and structure of individuals with COVID-19 admitted to the General Hospital of the University of Sao Paulo will be assessed in the first 72 hours of hospitalization. Then, participants will be followed up until hospital discharge/death. Logistical regressions will be run to evaluate if vascular function/structure can predict ICU admissions, intubation, thrombosis or death.
Physical Activity Level in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease During COVID-19 Pandemic
Covid19Chronic Kidney DiseasesIn the literature, there are no studies evaluating fear of COVID-19, anxiety, depression, physical activity, fear of movement and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease during COVID-19 pandemic. The investigators will evaluate these parameters in patients with chronic kidney disease and compare the findings of healthy individuals during COVID-19 pandemic
PAtterns and Extension in COVID-19 Related Interstitial Pneumonia: CT Analysis
Covid19The hallmark of the L phenotype is the vasoplegia, as confirmed by the rapid change in density and distribution of CT findings from the supine to the prone position. The benefit of a prone position in awake, nonintubated, spontaneously breathing Covid-19 patients has been emerging as potential tool to improve oxygenation and to prevent the access to ICU. No evidence of radiological modifications related to Aim of our study is to evaluate CT changes in terms of extension, distribution and prevalence of findings, in the supine compared with the prone position.
Clinical Study of Pregnant Women With COVID-19
Covid-19A new pandemic, COVID-19, has spread rapidly around the world. She does not spare pregnant women. Little is known about the clinical course of pregnant women infected with COVID-19. As of April 1, 2020, six case series and one case report for a total of 61 pregnancies affected by COVID-19, all from the pandemic epicenter in China, except for one state case report -Unis, have been published. These preliminary reports suggest that pregnant women are not more seriously affected than the general population and show a certain gap with what we have observed in the care of pregnant women at HUS. For these reasons, additional information, especially from parts of the world other than China, as the severity of the disease can vary from country to country, is urgently needed to determine whether pregnant women with the disease of COVID-19 will not present with severe pneumonia to COVID-19.
