The investigators prospectively studied the results of wound closure after abdominoplasty with randomized use of PrineoTM and conventional suturing to assess the possible difference in outcome between these two methods.Follow-up visits to the outpatient clinic were scheduled at 2 weeks, 6 months and 12 months after surgery. A panel consisting of three plastic surgeons and three plastic surgery residents assessed the wound and scar appearance during the three follow-up visits.

The object of this study is to analyze fresh human skin samples using several up-to-date technologies to get parameters on the mechanical, biochemical and structural distribution of the main components of the capillary-tissue unit. Our working hypothesis is that both structural components of the dermis are not evenly distributed along parallel planes. The investigators further hypothesize the the distribution patterns determine functional and mechanical differences along dermal layers.

The investigators propose utilizing a simple telemedical protocol to allow patients to substitute the first post-operative visit with a remote survey that includes essential post-operative history, vision measurement, and photographs, all of which can be provided using a personal computer, tablet, or smart phone. The investigators have selected for this purpose a subset of oculoplastic procedures involving the eyelid and lacrimal system that have well-reported low rates of serious complications, since high-risk procedures will likely always require close, in-person care. The investigators hypothesize that telemedicine follow-up for the first post-operative week after low-risk oculoplastic surgery will decrease the time burden on patients without compromising their satisfaction or increase the risk of late post-operative complications.
