Behavioral & Nutritional Treatment to Help CF Preschoolers Grow

Cystic FibrosisPancreatic Cystic Fibrosis

The primary objective of this NIH funded clinical trial is to conduct a multi-center, randomized, controlled trial comparing two interventions: a behavioral plus nutrition intervention to a nutrition intervention. This study will (a) determine the impact of the behavioral intervention on energy intake and weight gain; (b) examine the durability of the behavioral intervention's impact on growth (weight and height) one year following treatment; and (c) explore the relation between physical activity and growth.

Effect of Proton Pump Inhibitors on CF Pulmonary Exacerbations

Cystic Fibrosis

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common problem in cystic fibrosis (CF). It may lead to worsening lung function and more respiratory infections for a person with CF. This study will look at treating GERD with a medication, esomeprazole. The medication stops stomach acid from being made. The study will see if there are fewer respiratory infections and improved lung function in patients with CF when taking esomeprazole.

19F MRI of Ventilation in Subjects With Cystic Fibrosis Undergoing Treatment for Pulmonary Exacerbation...

Cystic Fibrosis

The purpose of this study is to use perfluorinated gas imaging to highlight regions of functional variation within the lungs of participants with cystic fibrosis (CF), and to correlate this with changes in spirometry, lung clearance index, and quality of life of CF subjects undergoing treatment for a pulmonary exacerbation.
