Efficacy of the Use of Silver Diamine Fluoride and Sodium Fluoride Varnish for the Treatment of...

Dental Caries in Children

The goal of this observational study is to identify the efficacy of silver diamine fluoride 38% followed by sodium fluoride varnish 5% in a population with untreated dental caries age range 4 to 12 years old. The main questions to answer are Efficacy of treatment of active tooth decay with the treatment protocol of 38% silver diamine fluoride and 5% sodium fluoride varnish. Clinical evaluation of tooth decay treated with 38% silver diamine fluoride and 5% sodium fluoride varnish in quality of hardness, color change and caries progression. Explore the association of treatment with 38% silver diamine fluoride and 5% sodium fluoride varnish with: i. Reduction of oral pain caused by the presence of carious lesions. ii. Improvement in gingival oral health. iii. Changes in general nutritional status through measurements of height, weight, hemoglobin levels and nutritional survey. The participants will be identified, charted (with nutritional surveys and parameters), as well as treated and compared in a six- and twelve-month period, where researchers will clinically identify the association between the use of this protocol and the efficacy of such, as well as other related nutritional aspects.

In Vivo Assessment of the Tooth-Resin Composite Interface Using Optical Coherence Tomography

CavityCavities of Teeth

The aim of the study is to compare the short-term marginal integrity of two preparation techniques for Class I composite restoration using two visual assessment techniques, the FDI World Dental Federation and US Public Health Service assessment criteria. In addition, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) will be used to assess the marginal integrity of the restoration.

Early Caries Lesion Management Observational Study

Initial CariesArrested Dental Caries3 more

The purpose of this observational study is to assess the effectiveness of Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus (CRFP) compared to other tooth-specific treatments (silver diamine fluoride (SDF), sealants, or other FDA-approved treatments) in preventing progression to cavitation in patients with at least one early non-cavitated dental caries lesion. The study will also evaluate the effectiveness of CRFP in comparison to no tooth-specific treatment control groups, including whole mouth treatments such as: 2.26% fluoride varnish, 1.23% fluoride foam, and 5000 ppm fluoride prescription toothpaste; and no treatment, on caries arrest and in preventing progression to cavitation in patients with at least one early non-cavitated dental lesion.

Clinical Investigation of a New Bulk Fill Composite Resin in the Restoration of Posterior Teeth...

Dental Restoration Failure of Marginal IntegrityDental Caries5 more

Polymerization shrinkage remains one of the primary disadvantages of composite resin restorative materials (tooth-colored fillings). To minimize the effects of polymerization shrinkage in the restorative treatment, the 3M ESPE company has developed a composite resin called Filtek Bulk Fill Posterior Restorative. Its decreased polymerization shrinkage and properties allow the material to be inserted in one single increment, expediting treatment. This clinical trial is designed to evaluate the performance of the new bulk fill composite resin in Class II (two-surface posterior) fillings.

Kovanaze Vs. Articaine in Achieving Pulpal Anesthesia of Maxillary Teeth - Pediatric

Caries,DentalApical Periodontitis

The primary goal of the study is to compare the success rates of pulpal anesthesia (defined as ability to complete the intended dental procedure without the need for rescue anesthesia) between Kovanaze nasal mist and Articaine needle anesthesia.

Celtra Duo Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Machining (CAD/CAM) Dental Crown Study

Fractured ToothDecayed Tooth1 more

This investigation will be a clinical trial to study the performance of a newly developed high strength ceramic material for crowns. The ceramic has been approved by the FDA for patient treatment. A computer technique will be used to fabricate the crowns in a single appointment without the need for a temporary crown or second appointment. Two adhesive resin cement techniques will be used to hold the crown to the tooth and they will be evaluated for creating sensitivity to the tooth. The purpose of the study is to measure how well the high strength crowns function over an extended period of time.

Maintaining Oral Health With Bio-products

Dental CariesDental Erosion

This study will follow a randomised, double-blind, cross-over design. Participants will use mouth rinses containing plant extracts and/or fluoride, as well as a mouth rinse containing only water (placebo). They will use oral appliances containing sterilized enamel and dentine slabs, which will be later collected for analyses. The cross-over design will allow participants to use all rinses, allowing for a comparison between the rinses within each individual.

Hydrogen Peroxide Fumigation in Dental Office Environment

Bacterial InfectionsDental Caries1 more

The study's null hypothesis posits no significant difference in bacterial levels in the dental office environment before and after implementing hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) fumigation. The study comprised 30 participants, 18 females and 12 males, all diagnosed with moderate caries decay (ICDAS 3 and 4) in their mandibular molars, averaging 42.2 ± 8.3 years in age. Sample size calculations for 30 microbiological plates in each group utilized G*Power software (Kiel University, Germany), factoring in prior research, with a significance level of 0.05, effect size (d) of 0.72, 95% confidence interval, and 85% power. Aerobic bacterial content in the dental office air was assessed using the Koch sedimentation method. The study employed 60 Petri dishes with Columbia Agar and 5% Sheep Blood. During caries treatment, thirty plates were opened and sealed 40 minutes later, while another set of thirty plates was opened and closed 60 minutes post-fumigation. Measurements were taken 1 meter above the ground and 2 meters from the patient's mouth. After 48 hours of incubation at 37°C, microbiological contamination was calculated as CFUs (colony-forming units) in one cubic meter using the formula: L = a × 1000 / (πr² × k). Fumigation involved a 20-minute treatment with 6% hydrogen peroxide biosanitizer (Saniswiss, Switzerland) via a compressed air device (Fumi-Jet, Kormed, Poland). The process included 3 minutes of fumigation and a 17-minute waiting period for the chemotoxic effect, with 45 ml of 6% hydrogen peroxide sprayed in a 20 m² room.
