Postpartum DepressionCovid192 more

Postpartum depression (PPD) represent around 15% of birth in developed countries. The context of the COVID-19 epidemy represents a possible source of additional emotional distress. The objective of this study is to determine the screening prevalence and risk factors of postpartum depression, among women who deliver in fourth hospital in the North of France in the context of the COVID epidemy.

Echo: Optimizing a Group-based School Intervention for Children With Emotional Problems

Anxiety Depression

The present study (Echo) will promote much needed research and innovation that optimize service provision in first line health services for the alarmingly high number of school children who suffer from clinical and subthreshold levels of anxiety and depression. The effect of different versions of an evidence-based intervention for this group of children will be tested using a cluster randomized design involving 40 schools across Norway. The aim is to create a framework that allows more evidence-based psychosocial interventions to be provided at a lower cost to society. Echo will provide knowledge about three main evidence gaps for children: (1) The effect of school-based preventive interventions on anxiety and depression; (2) The effect of feedback informed systems, and; (3) the effect and cost-effectiveness of digital health interventions using online sessions and virtual reality technology.

Prenatal Depression Prevention Effects on Parenting and Young Child Self-Regulation and Functioning...

Postpartum DepressionChild Development2 more

Poor parenting practices and compromised child self-regulation when a child is 2 ½ - 4 ½ years old are foundational in promoting their later healthy development and adaptive functioning. This project will test whether targeting depressive symptoms with a prenatal preventive intervention prevents disruptions in well-regulated parenting and child self-regulation known to affect families with depressed mothers. This project may have great benefit to society, as preventive interventions delivered prenatally have the potential to influence long-term trajectories of parenting practices and child development which, in turn, can chart a course for future child health and well-being.

Multimodal Biomarkers of Electroconvulsive Therapy in Severe and Treatment-resistant Depression...

Depressive DisorderBipolar Disorder

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a widespread and safe stimulation method that has been used successfully for decades in psychiatric diseases such as severe or therapy-resistant depression. Unfortunately, ECT still has stigmas attached to it. The latter often leads to reservations among those affected and perturbs optimal and guideline-based therapy. Despite the demonstrated effectiveness of ECT, prediction of treatment response is still not possible. This is due to the limited knowledge about the biological mechanisms of action of ECT, especially on an individuum level. Thus, the DetECT study intends to recruit 134 inpatient subjects of the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry with severe and/or treatment resistant depression receiving ECT to perform weekly psychometry and blood draws before and after ECT sessions one, seven, and twelve. The subsequent biopsychological analysis comprises omics, physiological, neurocognitive, and psychometric measurements. The multimodal data collected will be used to identify data-driven clusters associated with ECT mechanisms and outcome.

Psilocybin for Psychological and Existential Distress in Palliative Care

DepressionAnxiety2 more

The goal of this multi-centre phase I/II open-label, single-arm study is to determine the safety, feasibility, therapeutic dose, and preliminary efficacy of psilocybin microdosing to treat psychological distress among patients with advanced illness. Forty patients will receive psilocybin drug product (1-3mg per day, Mon-Fri) for 4 weeks to be administered via oral capsules by the participant. Feasibility (recruitment rate, rate of intervention and follow-up completion), safety (rate of adverse events), dosing, and preliminary efficacy (depression, anxiety, overall well-being, and global impression of change) will be measured.
