Effect of a Nutritional Supplement on Mental Wellness in Adults

Trillions of microbes reside in human gut and constitute "gut microbiota". Composition of these microbes and substances produced by them play an important role in human health and wellness. The goal of this study is to determine if a unique orally consumed triglyceride supplement will impart mood benefits. Investigators hypothesize that a part of the fatty acids will be released in upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract and can be absorbed and reach different organs via systemic circulation (blood), including to the brain, and provide health benefits. Rest of the portion would reach the colon and may modulate gut microbiota and provide health benefits via the gut-brain axis (a bi-directional communication between emotional and cognitive centers and the gastrointestinal system). These health benefits could include alleviation of stress, occasional anxiousness and low mood. Participants with self-reported low mood will be randomized to two groups - one group will receive triglyceride supplement in softgel form and another group will receive a placebo (softgel with no active substance). Investigators will evaluate the effect of consumption of triglyceride supplement compared to Placebo on occasional low mood, occasional anxiousness, stress, sleep and general health by measuring changes from baseline.

There is an urgent need for educational and psychological adjustment to stimulate the post-stroke patients' motivation to actively carry out rehabilitation. Studies have shown that interventions based on character strengths are widely used in chronic disease patients abroad, and have achieved the effect of improving the physical and mental health. However, research on individualized character strengths in stroke patient intervention is limited, and more clinical evidence is needed. This study is based on personality theory and the application of character strengths-based STEP programme (CSSTEP) in stroke patients. The investigators hypothesized that the CSSTEP programme could help stroke patients to improve mental state, cognitive function, and better gait performance, suffer from less post-stroke depression, enhance their post-stroke self-confidence.

Mindfulness in High Risk Pregnancies

Anxiety, depression and stress are common during pregnancy. These have been found to negatively impact mother and child outcomes. When anxiety, depression, and stress are present in pregnant women, it is therefore important to manage them to improve the outcome of the mother and her child. Although pregnancy itself has been shown to increase anxiety, depression and stress, these issues are further elevated in high-risk pregnancy groups. Mothers at risk of preterm delivery (less than 37 weeks gestational age), have been found to have higher rates of depression, anxiety and stress compared to uncomplicated term pregnancies. In addition, anxiety, depression and stress symptoms themselves increase the risk for preterm delivery, creating a vicious cycle for this high-risk group. Mindfulness is a tool that has been during pregnancy to reduce depression, anxiety, and stress. Many studies have found mindfulness to be an appropriate management option in normal term pregnancies. To date, there have been no studies that have looked at Mindfulness as a tool for mothers admitted due to risk of preterm delivery. This study will explore the impact of teaching mindfulness skills to inpatient mothers at risk of preterm delivery and studying its effects on maternal depression, anxiety, and stress. This study involves providing Mindfulness strategies during the mother's inpatient admission for the risk of preterm delivery for four consecutive weeks. Participants will be enrolled through informed consent. All participants will be given pre and post participation questionnaires to examine the impact of mindfulness on anxiety, depression and stress. The participants will also be encouraged to maintain a weekly mindfulness log. The results of this research may lead to future studies looking at the impact of mindfulness practice for high-risk pregnancies. This will also help open up the possibility of offering such courses for inpatient and outpatient high-risk pregnancies in the future.

Improving Preschool Outcomes by Addressing Maternal Depression in Head Start

Within a research network of Head Start centers in Massachusetts, an efficacy trial of a stepped-care intervention (SCI) to address maternal depression, using intervention components that both prevent depression and help those in major depressive episode (MDE) engage with care, will be conducted. Both the prevention and engagement components of the model have strong, supportive randomized trial evidence for both their efficacy and safety; but they have yet to be synthesized and tested within a coordinated intervention, applicable to a broad population base. Stepped-care interventions are commonly used in mental health service projects, in which the intensity or type of service is calibrated to the severity of illness.

Paramedical Tele-education on Moderate Depressive Episodes

Considering that one out of five people may experience depression during the course of their life, and that compliance to anti-depression medication is often not optimal. Psycho-educational interventions are recommended in international clinical practice guidelines for the management of depression. They are the first step in the treatment protocol. Psychoeducation in the treatment of depressive episodes has been shown to be an effective intervention because it reduces depressive symptoms, the risk of relapse or recurrence and improves adherence to treatment. In France, there are only one approved psycho-education programme, but it concerns a population of patients under psychiatric care. No psycho-education programme has yet been carried out or evaluated in France on depressed patients followed up in primary care by their General Practitioner. Recent changes in our healthcare practices, which have required adaptation to the pandemic context, have led to the development of the use of telemedicine. This study aims to evaluate a new and 100% remote educational program adapted to patients ongoing moderate depression and focused on medication adherence, economic gain and patients and professional satisfaction.

the investigators will use 4 technology based tools (combinations of youtube videos, links to online resources, tiktok videos, and other media) in a study of 96 Sexual and Gender Minority Youth (SGMY) to determine the effectiveness of them in helping youth to seek out mental health help. Participants will be divided into 1 of 16 groups and will interact with other participants anonymously on Discord. Each group will have access to 1, 2, 3, or all 4 of the tools which are categorized by a specific subject (except for one group who will have no access to the tools in order to compare this outcome against those who use the tools). There will be a survey before starting the Discord portion which will last 4 weeks, and a survey afterwards.

Survivorship Care for Women Living With Ovarian Cancer: (POSTCARE-O)

This study will enroll 120 women living with ovarian cancer following completion of initial treatment. Our objective is to test an intervention designed to provide support during the survivorship transition for this population, who live with a high degree of morbidity related to the illness and its treatment as well as a high risk of recurrence. Study participants will be randomly assigned to receive survivorship care using the POSTCare-O process or usual care. The primary outcome is quality of life at 12 weeks after intervention.
