Depression and Suicide

This is a rater-blinded, randomized controlled trial. All patients will receive esketamine for treatment of Major Depression with Suicidal Ideation (MDSI). Subjects will be randomized (1:1) to receive CBT (computer-assisted) or TAU alone following esketamine.

iCBT With TMS in Patients With MDD

Major Depressive Disorder

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a common mental health diagnosis. While there are many approaches to the treatment of MDD, current treatments of MDD often do not substantially reduce depressive symptoms among those in need of care. Prior research suggests that combining cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychopharmacology can produce optimal treatment outcomes compared to the use of either treatment individually. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is one promising brain stimulation approach used to treat MDD, especially among patients with treatment-resistant symptoms. Like psychopharmacological interventions, TMS may produce optimal treatment outcomes when paired with CBT. However, standard TMS protocols are time-intensive, typically requiring daily doctor visits for one hour of six to eight weeks. Therefore, an internet-delivered CBT protocol may augment the effects of TMS without substantially increasing patient burden. To that end, the present study assesses if a combined TMS and internet-delivered CBT protocol may produce superior treatment outcomes compared with TMS alone.

Comparative Effect of Training on Postpartum Depression

Postnatal DepressionSelf Efficacy

New mothers experience postpartum depression after childbirth, which commonly include mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Resistance training (RT) is one of the most popular methods of exercise for improving physical fitness. This study will be a randomized clinical trial. It divide into two groups. Data will be collected from Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Family Health hospital, Johar town. Data will be taken from 36 postpartum females. Participants will be divided into 2 groups 18 women in each group: 1st group will be treated with resistance training group and 2nd group will be active comparison flexibility training group. In this study Exercises self-efficacy scale, Epidemiological studies Depression scale and MAPP-QOL (Maternal Postpartum Quality Life Questionnaire) will be used as subjective measurements.

Impact of Ketamine On Depressive Symptoms In Patients Undergoing Lumbo-peritoneal Shunt Insertion...

DepressionAnxiety

Postoperative depression is a perioperative psychological complication that severely affects patient recovery and quality of life. In extreme cases, it may lead to suicidal behavior. Postoperative depression can be seen in various surgical operations . High rates of anxiety and depression have been reported in cohorts of patients with IIH, though it is not clear whether there is any direct relationship. Worse outcomes in terms of disability level and symptom resolution have been observed in IIH patients who have a known co-existing psychiatric illness compared to those who do not .

Optimizing Attentional Bias Modification

Depression

Depression has been associated with an attention bias towards negative information. Attention bias modification (ABM) interventions explore potential benefits of training attention away from negative or threatening information and towards neutral or positive information. The goal of this study is to examine the effectiveness of an ABM intervention that includes a preceding mindfulness training among a sample of individuals who self-reported mild-to-moderately depression symptoms. The main question this study aims to answer is: • Do individuals who participate in an ABM intervention have a greater reduction in attention bias towards negative information and depressive symptoms when compared to a control group? Participants will be asked to participate in 3 days of brief mindfulness training exercises preceding an ABM intervention session that lasts 1.5 to 2 hours while wearing electroencephalography (EEG) equipment. Researchers will compare the ABM intervention group to a "sham" intervention group to see if the ABM intervention reduces negative attention bias above and beyond brief mindfulness training.

A Trial of GH001 in Patients With Treatment-resistant Depression

Treatment-resistant Depression

The aim of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 2b clinical trial is to investigate the safety and efficacy of GH001 (containing mebufotenin [5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine; 5-MeO-DMT]) in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). The study is comprised of a 7-day double-blind (DB) part (Part 1) and a 6-month open-label extension (OLE) part (Part 2). Patients will be randomized to receive GH001 or placebo in a 1:1 ratio. The primary endpoint is the mean change in the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) from baseline to Day 7.

Intradermal Acupuncture Versus Sham Acupuncture and SSRI for Treating Adolescents With Major Depressive...

Major Depressive Disorder

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a prevalent mental illness characterised by influencing the health and quality of life of patients, often manifesting in individuals under the age of 18. It has been wildly confirmed that acupuncture alone or in combination with the applicable adjuvant therapy for MDD can not only relieve patients' physical symptoms, but also enhance sleep quality. Intradermal acupuncture, as an acceptable and long-lasting treatment modality, is the focus of this research. This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of intradermal acupuncture in the treatment of MDD.

Effect to the Photobiomodulation in the Burning Mouth Syndrome

Burning Mouth SyndromeQuality of Life2 more

Introduction: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a pathology with a low prevalence, affecting between 0.1% and 3.7% of the general population, the ratio between women and men is between 3 and 7:1. It is clinically characterized by a burning pain sensation, recurrent daily for more than 2 hours a day, persistent for more than 3 months and in a way that increases throughout the day and decreases at night, without presenting clinically evident causal lesions on the surface of the oral mucosa, nor changes in clinical sensory tests. The description of the symptomatology varies according to the patient and may be related especially to psychogenic factors. Patients report dry mouth/xerostomia and taste alterations, such as metallic or bitter taste. The most frequent location is on the tongue (tip and lateral borders), but it can also include the anterior palate, gingiva and lips. Since the etiopathogenic factors that produce BMS are not clear, it is difficult to make advances in therapy. The available treatments aim to control the multiple factors related to BMS, thus reducing the symptoms described by patients. Among them, the literature describes low level laser photobiomodulation. The success of the use of low level lasers for treatments in oral medicine is due to their biomodulatory activity and their ability to penetrate tissues. The analgesic action of laser radiation is due to the inhibition of nociceptive mediators and the release by the Central Nervous System (CNS) of endogenous analgesic substances such as endorphins, which hinders the transmission of the painful stimulus. It has been verified that low power laser radiation therapy can be effective in reducing symptoms in patients with BMS. Importantly, low power laser therapy is non-invasive, well tolerated by patients. Objectives: To confirm the hypothesis that the application of low power laser in the areas of oral burning can improve the symptomatology of BMS. Material and methods: We propose a clinical study in 38 patients with idiopathic BMS, prospective, randomized, double-blind. The study universe will be constituted by patients attended at the Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery and Implantology Unit of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), quality of life (OHIP-14) and subjective sensation of dry mouth xerostomia inventory (XI) questionnaires will be applied to all the patients, and the amount of saliva will be quantitatively determined by means of the unstimulated global saliva test (TSG-I) using a millimetric absorbent paper strip, at the beginning, at the end of treatment and at the re-evaluation at two and six months.
