The Relationships of Cyber-bullying and Bullying With Mental Health Among Taiwanese Adolescents...
DepressionBackground and significance: Though the problem of bullying among adolescents is evidently increasing and of a serious social concern, it is often undetected until serious outcomes have surfaced. In recent years, along with the rapid expansion of the Internet, social network services (SNS) and smart phones, "cyber-bullying" has been growing. Compared to the traditional bullying, cyberbullying is unique in nature and potentially more hazardous in terms of invisibility, lack of control, where it enables communication with a broad range of people at any time and place. To explore deeper understanding of the magnitude and the impact of the bullying among adolescents in Taiwan to inform public policy and future health intervention programs may be beneficial not only to Taiwan but also to Asia as a whole. Many Asian countries now suffer the similar problems of bullying among adolescents, since these countries share similar characteristics of development (spread of internet, SNSs and smart phones). Goal and objectives: This study aims to explore Taiwanese adolescents' experiences, perceptions, opinions and mental health regarding cyberbullying and traditional bullying to inform the development of questionnaire in the quantitative phase of mixed methods study. Study design: A qualitative study design with in depth interviews will be adopted. Target population and study setting: Senior high school students will be recruited from Taipei city, Taiwan. Sample size and sampling method: Participants will be sampled by convenience sampling until thematic saturation is attained, probably around 50 students. Data collection: Face-to-face in-depth interview with semi-structured questionnaire will be used. Data analysis: All interviews will be voice-recorded, transcribed, analyzed by thematic analysis procedure. Analysis process will include familiarization, coding, searching for themes, reviewing the themes, defining, naming themes and writing up or weaving the analytic narrative. Triangulation and supervision will also ensure credibility and balance in the process.

Registry for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease With Anxiety and Depression in China
COPDAnxiety1 moreAnxiety and depression are common comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the exact prevalence is not known in China. COPD patients with anxiety and depression tend to have more severe symptoms and worse prognosis, but the related evidences are not strong enough. The study aim to investigate the prevalence and long-term outcome of anxiety and depression in COPD.
Cognitive Markers of Response to Treatment in Resistant Depression
DepressionPatients with depression are frequently treatment resistant. Clinical manifestations of depression are various, but cognitive dysfunctions are commonly present. Many factors are involved in treatment resistance. As no biological marker is available, clinical markers could be considered in predicting response to antidepressive treatment. The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between the cognitive changes and the remission of depressive symptoms in patients with recurrent depression (Stage 2 of Thase and Rush classification). To explore the dynamics of cognitive dimension associated to clinical and functional remission, the investigators will observe neurocognitive functioning before and after introducing a new antidepressive therapy.
Glycemic Index/ Load and Mental Disorders
DepressionAnxiety1 moreA total of 300 adults would be included in the present cross-sectional study. glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) would be assessed by using a validated self-administered dish-based semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Validated Iranian versions of Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and General Health Questionnaire-12 would be used to assess anxiety, depression and psychological distress.

Quality of Life in Chinese Working and School Age Population With MDD
Major Depressive DisorderRemissionMajor depressive disorder (MDD) is a common mental illness with high prevalence and global burden. Previous studies revealed that over 70% patients in remission still had decreased quality of life, severe function impairment, low positive mental health score and poor coping ability. However, few studies focus on working and school age patients with MDD. A GBD survey showed that over 40% MDD patients are 15-50 years old. Therefore, we initiate the present multi-center cross-sectional survey to investigate the associations between clinical symptoms, cognitive function, occupational/study ability, and quality of life in Chinese working and school age population with MDD who are in remission.
