Effect of High Carbohydrate vs. Low Carbohydrate Diet in Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes MellitusDiabetes Mellitus1 more

The experimental approach in this study intends to investigate the role of hepatic glycogen content on nocturnal regulation of endogenous glucose production including the relative contributions of glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis and the extent to which this differs between subjects with type 2 diabetes and subjects without diabetes. Both participants with type 2 diabetes and participants without diabetes will be studied after consuming either a low carbohydrate (no glycogen loading) or high carbohydrate (glycogen loading) diet.

A Study of an Insulin Management System in Participants With Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes

Type 1 DiabetesType 2 Diabetes

The purpose of this study is to investigate the user experience of an integrated insulin management system (IIM) in participants with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The IIM system is comprised of an insulin injection pen with a data transmission module and blood glucose meter which are connected to a mobile phone application. The application will be used to record and track diabetes-data related information.

The Genetic Effects of rs7903146 and Dietary Intake on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Risk in a Healthy...

Health BehaviorBlood Glucose3 more

This study investigates the association of genetic effects of rs7903146 and dietary intake on type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) risk in a healthy population. T2DM risk was assessed through glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) concentration in 73 subjects. Dietary intake was assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ).

Sympathetic Activity and Cardiometabolic Complications

Catecholamine; OverproductionCatecholamine; Secretion6 more

Recent studies on catecholamine physiology have shown a direct correlation with arterial hypertension, overcoming the exclusive role in the diagnosis and follow-up of chromaffin tumors. Nevertheless, in literature, few studies explore and reveal the utility of testing metanephrines for the evaluation of sympathetic activity and its associated cardiometabolic complications in patients with essential hypertension.

Gut Microbiota in Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases

Arterial HypertensionAtherosclerosis Occlusive Disease7 more

It is an observational study in patients with chronic noncommunicable diseases (i.e. cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma ) and control group with no signs of these conditions. The study has a prospective part planned for 2021 and a retrospective part which includes the patients enrolled between 2018-2020. The aim of the study is to investigate gut microbiota composition, its metabolites, levels of inflammatory and other markers of the disease in prospective groups (arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and control patients) as well as in retrospective groups (chronic heart failure with preserved and reduced ejection fraction, obstructive atherosclerosis of any vascular bed, arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and control patients). Also we are planning to investigate the association between gut microbiota composition and its metabolites, levels of inflammatory and other markers of the disease in retrospective and prospective groups.

A Post-Marketing Surveillance Study on NesinaAct® Tablet Use Among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Participants...

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The purpose of this post marketing surveillance (PMS) study is to estimate the proportion of all adverse events (AEs) including serious adverse events (SAEs) and serious adverse drug reactions (SADRs) in participants who are treated for type 2 diabetes mellitus under NesinaAct® tablet therapy (alogliptin/pioglitazone) once daily by physicians in the real-world clinical practice setting over a period of 26 weeks.

My Dose Coach Mobile App to Support Insulin Titration and Maintenance

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 - Insulin-Treated

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate an electronic application (app) designed to help people with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) adjust their insulin doses. The app is called My Dose Coach. This research study is being done in 2 phases. Specifically in Phase 1, the study is assessing the role of the My Dose Coach app in helping participants make insulin adjustments to get their blood glucoses to the target level that is planned for with the diabetes team, called the dosing or titration phase, when first starting insulin. In Phase 2, the study is assessing the role of the My Dose Coach app in helping participants keep blood glucoses in the target range, called the maintenance phase.
