Psychological Impact, Metabolic Control, and Biological Stress Markers in Diabetes: Intervention Study With Affect School and Basal Body Awareness Background: Depression is common in patients with diabetes and is associated with impaired metabolic control. Alexithymia has been associated with depression, anxiety, stress related disorders and diabetes mellitus. Affect School (AS) is an intervention that may reduce depression and alexithymia according to previous research. Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBA) is a stress-reducing technique. Purpose: Our aim is to: 1. Analyze the prevalence of depression and anxiety and the personality variables alexithymia and self image in diabetes patients. 2. Explore correlations between these variables and risk factors, including biochemical markers for diabetic complications. 3. To evaluate an intervention with AS and BBA in patients with diabetes that scored high in psychometric self-report tests and at the same time showed impaired metabolic control. Method: A randomized controlled trial of 350 people with diabetes, 18-59 years, 56% men, 44% women. Base-line study: from medical records and the National Diabetes Registry - waist circumference, BMI, blood pressure, type and duration of diabetes, diabetes complications, other diseases, medications, exercise habits and smoking. Tests - A1c, blood lipids, cytokines, hormones, beta-cell antibodies, c-peptide, midnight cortisol (salivary). Self-report tests of psychological and personality variables: HAD, TAS-20, SASB. Intervention: patients with A1c ≥ 8 and anxiety (HAD ≥ 8), depression (HAD ≥ 8), negative self-image (SASB: AFF <284) or alexithymia (TAS-20 ≥ 61) were randomized to AS or BBA. AS: 8 group sessions followed by 10 individual sessions. Instructors were a primary care physician and a psychotherapist. BBA: 9 group meetings and 6 individual sessions with a physiotherapist as instructor. Post intervention: Self report tests, A1c, cytokines, hormones, cortisol.

The purpose of this study is to assess whether intensive case management interventions by a diabetes team, led by an endocrinologist and certified diabetes educator, can prevent <31 day readmission in previously identified high risk patients with diabetes.The procedures of the study will focus on managing the patient's diabetes and diabetes education while in the hospital, decreasing the patient's risk for hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in the hospital, and assist in the patient's diabetes management plan for a safe discharge.

Finding markers to identify these at-risk individuals is therefore an important scientific objective in order to avoid/delay the development of heart failure. The protocol will be proposed to type 2 diabetic patients hospitalized for insulin therapy upon admission to the diabetology department and healthy volunteers.

The primary question it aims to answer is: Does a self-administered 75-gram oral glucose tolerance test with virtual follow-up visit increase the rate of postpartum diabetes screening within 12 weeks of delivery? The aim of TRANSLATE is to implement genetic information directly into patient care to improve diagnosis and treatment of non-autoimmune diabetes. This project is the first large-scale implementation of systematic genetic testing within a common, non-communicable, chronic disease in Denmark, and will spearhead efforts to advance personalized medicine in Denmark. The project will contribute to establishing technology, workflow, and evidence on how to implement and communicate actionable genetic information to clinicians and patients in a generalized format. These developments are pivotal for personalized medicine to reach broader clinical application.

Patients with type 1 diabetes aged 15-65 years without major complications will be randomized either to usual care or to a structured group education program, with 6 four-hour weekly interactive sessions devoted to diabetes management. The principal endpoint will be the variation of HbA1c at 12 months from enrolment. Secondary endpoints will include quality of life, treatment satisfaction, fear of hypoglycemia, incidence of hypoglycemia.

In a previous study, the investigators established the dosage of foetal glycated hemoglobin (FGH). It represents the mean of blood sugar 4-6 before the delivery. The investigators also compared the FGH of newborn of women with and without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and determined that newborn of women with GDM had significantly higher FGH that newborn of women without GDM. In this study, the investigators want to compare the FGH of newborn of GDM women randomized to a group reaching the Canadian Diabetes Association recommended blood glucose objectives treatment (fasting: 5.3 mmol/L and 2-hour after meals: 6.7 mmol/L) to a group reaching lower blood glucose objectives (fasting: 4.8 mmol/L and 2-hour after meals: 5.9 mmol/L)
