The purpose of this study is to examine potential treatment options for a condition in diabetics that causes tingling, pain, and numbness in the hands and /or feet, also known as diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

This study is designed to examine how pregabalin affects parameters of autonomic nerve regulation in correlation with change in pain, anxiety, and depressive symptoms in patients with diabetic neuropathy.

The purposes of this study are to: 1) find out if pregabalin relieves pain in subjects with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy; 2) find out if pregabalin is safe at a dose of 600 mg/day (taken twice a day); and 3) find out if changes in nerve function happen during the study.

Use of Cannabidiol for the treatment of Diabetic Neuropathic Pain.

Patients with type 2 DM who are following will be enrolled into the study. Two visits were scheduled for data collection, physical examination and laboratory testing of the patients: the first prior to initiation of alpha lipoic acid (ALA) administration (baseline visit) and the second at the end of the third month following initiation of ALA (2nd visit).

Background: shoulder-hand syndrome is considered a significant reason for the reduction of upper limb functions after stroke. Purpose: To investigate the influence of Myofascial Trigger Points (MTrPs) release and shockwave therapy on pain and functions of the upper extremity in stroke patients with diabetic neuropathy.

Type II-diabetic neuropathy is the most common and correlated problem with diabetes that deteriorates with the passage of time. Balance disorders are also resulting of movement strategy damage, biomechanical and mechanical disorientation. The balance disorder has been reported to be related to abnormal somatosensory feedback, which is utilized in the development of an interior depiction of body motion and position (inner model) in the central nervous system. The Biodex stability system offers a system that can deliver particular hip and ankle postural training strategy with external biofeedback as a monitor to enhance the reduced subclinical limitations of patients with diabetic neuropathy.

The intent of this study is to treat subjects with painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) who also have pain on walking and to determine whether or not pregabalin demonstrates improvement relative to placebo on the following: reducing DPN pain, reducing pain on walking, and providing other benefits associated with daily activities and quality of life.

This is a 2-part study. In Part 1 of the study, subjects will undergo a pain reporting training program in which a painful stimulus will be applied to the subject's hand, and the subjects will be asked to report how painful the stimulus is. Over the course of the pain training sessions, feedback will be provided to the subject about how accurately they are reporting their degree of pain, relative to the amount of pressure stimulus applied to evoke pain. Those subjects who have adequate pain reporting ability will be asked to continue into Part 2 of the study in which 3 different blinded study drugs will be administered to each subject, in a crossover design to compare whether or not the study drugs improve pain associated with diabetic neuropathy.

This is a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel group study of EpiCept™ NP-1 Topical Cream (amitriptyline 4%/ketamine 2%) in approximately 200 patients with pain in the lower extremities due to diabetic nerve pain.
